"I'm fine." He says curtly, letting go of the angel with a bit of hesitance. Yeah, I screwed up big time. I messed up and now he won't like me. Avery thought, freaking out in his head.

"Are you sure…?" Atticus slowly managed to sit up, aware of the trail of dried blood behind him. How long was I out for…? How long was he out for…? He turned his attention to Avery and didn't scoot any closer but reached out his hand to examine Avery's face and head.
"Very, very, very sure! We can stay here for a bit until the hunters leave or something!" Avery blurted out, resisting the urge to hide his face in his hands.
"Okay…" Atticus pulled away slowly. "So, um… where are we…?" He felt his voice quiver and tried to clear his throat to stop it.
"A small pocket dimension, my brother had the ability to make them so I asked him to make one for me, just in case." He managed to jumble out.
"Oh…" Atticus trailed off, unsure if he should ask about Avery's brother. "He sounds like a really great brother…" He eventually stumbled to his feet and offered a hand to help Avery up.
Avery took the hand, "He was." He murmured sadly, Angel's death still fresh in his mind as if he was killed yesterday. "You remind me of him, just a lot less… Obnoxious."
"Aren't brothers supposed to be obnoxious to each other…? I'm sorry," Atticus attempted a weak joke, trying to lighten the heaviness in the room as he helped Avery to his feet. "I, I should go find some towels to clean up the mess I've left," Atticus attempted to change the subject, waving his hand vaguely at the trail of dried blood and dirt he tracked across the floor and turning on his heel to walk away.
Avery started to reach out his hand when Atticus' back turned, he quickly pulled it back and stood up. He needed to make food for them, he hopefully still had some tea and crackers in the pantry…
Stupid idiot! Atticus cursed himself as he wandered over to a closet, hopefully containing towels of some sort. Though, when he opened up the closet door, he had to leap out of the way, letting out a scream of surprise as an ironing board fell out of the closet, nearly hitting him. With his fight or flight response triggered, and considering they had just escaped from hunters who pinned him down and wanted to kill him, Atticus fled down the hallway, escaping into a random room.
Avery was grabbing some dried meat when he heard a scream, his protective instincts going into overdrive. "Atticus!" He yelled, racing down the hallway and coming upon a small room with the door flung open. He walked into the room quietly, looking around and calling out. "Atticus? Are you okay?"
"Yeah… I'm okay…" Atticus's muffled voice called from the cramped space of a wardrobe he had managed to weasel his way in. Slowly, one door on the wardrobe sqeaked open just enough for Atticus to look out. "Sorry… I panicked…" he was still panting from the adrenaline rush he had just recieved, but didn't open the wardrobe door any further. His thoughts were a complete, jumbled mess at this point.
Avery bit his lip, walking deeper into the room. "Can I go in there with you? Maybe it'll make you feel better…" He offers, standing in front of the door.
Atticus slowly pushed the door open further. "Are you sure…? You don't have to…" his voice quivered and faded out as he felt his face flush and was grateful for the darkness of his hiding place.
Avery nodded aggressively. "I'm sure, now scoot over." He says, not in a rude manner. He sat down in the corner, draping a blanket he had found over Atticus.
"O-Okay…" Atticus squeaked out as he made room for the siren to join him in his interesting hiding spot. "Sorry… instinctive reaction just sorta… kicked in…" He apologized to Avery.
Avery pat Atticus's head and blushed a bunch. "It's okay, I would have done the smae thing. I actualy have done the same thing…"
