“I do remember. You play piano beautifully.” She hummed. “I didn’t mean to listen in on that day but I’m glad I did.”
“I do remember. You play piano beautifully.” She hummed. “I didn’t mean to listen in on that day but I’m glad I did.”
Asher smiled a little. "Yeah. Thanks." he replied. He nodded. "Don't worry about it, it's fine."
“You should play more often. You’re really good.” Arabella turned to face him, smiling sweetly. “It’s only me here to listen, and even that can be changed so you’re on your own while you do so. I can lock myself away in here or in our room or even outside so you can play.”
Asher smiled back at her. "Maybe I will." he replied. "As for that…I don't mind if you listen. Really, I don't."
“I just want to make sure you’re comfortable. I am a rather new and sudden addition to your household. It must be strange to share your space with another.” She replied quietly, reaching for his hands.
Asher smiled a little, and let her take his paint-spattered hands. "It's fine, Arabella. Really." he replied with another gentle smile.
She returned the smile with one of her own, tugging him down for a quick peck on the lips. “I just want to make sure you’re alright with me here, Asher.”
Asher smiled, returning the kiss. "Mhm. I am." he replied.
Arabella felt her uneasiness slip away once more. Asher was a kind and loving man. She knew he would accept her and yet her fear and anxiety tried to make her think otherwise. “Let’s take a break and do something else.”
Asher ran a hand through her hair. "Alright. What do you think we should do?"
Her eyes slipped closed for the briefest of moments, a warm smile gracing her lips. “Anything as long as it’s with you. I want to get to know you better.”
Asher smiled. "Alright. Didn't you say something about cookies?" he asked, looking at her.
Her eyes went wide and her face lit up. “Yes! I wanted to make some for our neighbor! She was very kind!”
"Alright. Let's go, then." Asher replied, smiling at her still.
Arabella nodded, brushing a strand of her hair out of her face and wandering out of the room, humming a happy tune. “I wonder what kind we should make?”
Asher followed her. He let out a soft hum. "Hm. I'm not sure." he replied.
“I have one or two memorized, but I want to try something different.” She rambled, going off on a few tangents about the recipes she did know.
"Alright. Well…we have recipe books somewhere, I'm sure." Asher replied.
“I hope so. Oh! Maybe sugar cookies! Those are always so good!”
Asher smiled. "Ooh, those do sound good." he agreed.
“Should we add frosting or no? They’re good either way.” She chattered, looking up at him with a soft smile. “Of course we should maybe clean ourselves up a bit. You’ve got paint all over your face and arms.”
Asher smiled. "I don't know about frosting." He replied with a soft laugh. "As for paint…" He looked at himself. "I'll take a shower."
“No frosting then. Just the cookie!” Arabella laughed gently and smiled brightly at him. “I’ll have to do the same. A shower sounds nice anyways.”
Asher chuckled. "Alright. And you can do it first, then, if you want."
She shook her head and nudged him gently. “You go first, Asher. I’ll be alright.”
