I Have decided to post this here too. I like the idea and would love it in two different settings.

I’m thinking something set in modern times, an arranged marriage happens between a rich man and a young woman of middle-class. The woman hates the man she was forced to marry but slowly comes to love him the more she gets to know him…

Arabella Griggs was born into a decent middle-class family. As the only female in her family of two brothers she was charged with the duty to marry for the betterment of the company. Her father found the son of a rich company owner for her to marry and they were promptly set up.

She hated the man who was now her husband. She couldnt stand him or her father for doing something so unfair towards her… she didn’t care if her father’s company fell through, she wanted to marry for love, not for the company.

So my character is the female she is down below. Character profiles aren’t needed but if you’d like one you may add your character in. And they don’t have to be as detailed.

Name:

Arabella Griggs

Age:

19

Gender:

Female

Sexuality:

Straight

Species:

Human/Caucasian

Powers:

None

Appearance:

Thin, pale, and lanky, Arabella stands at 5’6 in height. Her long facial features include two almond green eyes, a long, pointed nose, and soft, thin lips. Her mid-length, Auburn hair has often led to strange looks and glares. It’s rather short for a female of her standings.

Her small frame is nearly skeletal and she is always sickly, a result of her sheltered life indoors.

General Attire:

For parties she bares the dresses and fabrics of a mid-class lady. Often fitted to Victorian-style dresses and classy outfits.

Her everyday outfit always consists of some sort of business casual attire and has never changed. She is not allowed to wear shorts or other recreational clothings.

Personality:

Strong-willed and easily excitable, Arabella is a doer. She strives to make something of her life before her father can arrange it for her. She is highly energized by social outings but finds business to be boring. She would rather become a painter, but is told by her more traditional father that the idea is silly.

Social Standing:

Middle class. Sure she’s no noble or from an important family but she’s in good standings.

Backstory:

As the first-born daughter of a rising businessman who is found not-so-popular, Arabella is considered the one to change her families fortune and fate by marrying into a rich family. The stress of that upon her drove her away from her father’s wishes. She would rather explore and paint than become the trophy wife to some top businessman.

Her father kept an iron fist and a tight gaze on her childhood, picking and hiring her friends carefully. He set her up for etiquette courses which she aced with flying colors. But it all was dull and boring. She now spends days on end outside, trying to regain her locked up childhood.

Other:

Her father is seeking an arranged marriage for her to benefit his company. She is highly creative and loves the ideas of the mythical and magical creatures that are said to reside in the forests. She wishes to visit it someday.

His back has a bit of scarring from various things. He has a fit, slim body, with a good amount of musculature. He has pointed ears, due to his Fae heritage. He has no facial hair.

(He is beautiful! I love him! Also, I like the idea of getting to know his backstory as we role play! I purposely leave some stuff out of mine to be discovered as we go!)

@ElderGod-Icefire

(thank you so much! Alright!

Sure, sounds good! This is kinda an awkward question, but, er…would they have done what is, ah…traditionally done on the wedding night? oh my God this is an embarrassing question)

@Toxic_Persephone group

(XD you mean like the ‘honeymoon’? I’d say uhhhmm maybe not idk, they both don’t wanna be married much less get in a bed with each other XD. Or maybe they do and it’s extremely awkward for them at times???)

Arabella felt like crying. It had only been a few days since their marriage and she was still upset over it all. Her mind flickered through all of her confused and tangled thoughts as she sat on the bed, her knees pulled to her chest.

Yes Asher was handsome, and yes his family was helping hers but everything felt so fake. She could tell he disliked her, she disliked him back. She could feel the awkward air between them as they pretended to be the perfect couple in public.

But the truth was she didn’t love him and he didn’t love her. He was cold towards her and it hurt. She felt alone, and quite frankly attention starved.

It wasn’t a surprise when Asher entered the bedroom without so much as a glance her way. She dropped her head and pulled the blankets around her.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Asher paid no attention to the girl in his bed. His wife. God, it still sounded so strange to think of. His wife. He hadn't ever wanted to get married. Not to…not to someone his parents picked, anyway. Not to a girl whose family married her off to climb the social ladder. He walked tk the window, untying his tie and putting it in his closet. Arabella had one as well, a large walk-in closet. He sighed softly, dragging a hand through his black hair, then pulling off his jacket and setting it on the back of the chair.

Arabella was pretty, he'd give her that much. But he could tell quite easily that she didn't like him. Certainly didn't love him. Which he understood, and he was fine with it. So long as his parents didn't start demanding he have children, this could all work out fine.

Her eyes watched him with a slight glare, a very soft huff leaving her lips as she laid down and drew the blankets around her small body. She had already changed into a comfortable nightgown for the rest of the day and she didn’t plan on getting up anytime soon. No, she wanted to sleep until it was dark and then stay up all night in the living room painting.

Arabella took one glance at her husband before she closed her eyes, a bitter taste in her mouth. He could have at least given her a small greeting or acknowledged her presence. But no, instead he walked into his closet and disappeared from sight.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Asher changed into more casual clothes, and came back out. He glanced at the bed. Ah, she was asleep. Fine. He left the room, turning off the overhead lights and closing the door behind him. Of course, his "casual" clothes were more formal than most people's, a long sleeved button up and slacks. He went into his office, and opened up the computer, typing out an email to one of his associates. He finished the email, and sighed softly, stretching as he looked around his office. He had slept on the couch on their wedding night. He hadn't been able to stomach the idea of sharing a bed with her that night. Especially if she had tried to…well. Do anything. He hadn't been able to handle that idea. So he had showed her the bedroom, waited until she was asleep, then moved to the couch, just in case.

She scoffed and got up, deciding to go for a walk around the backyard. She grabbed her jacket and slung it on, pulling her hair into a messy bun and sliding on her flats. Her father would greatly disprove of how she looked but she didn’t care anymore. She was at least free of him and his strictness.

At least her ‘husband’ ignored her so she could do what she wanted. Hell, she could probably go out and get drunk off her ass and he wouldn’t care. So, as she passed him with a book in her hand, her eyes trailing over his pointed ears and handsome face, she waved.

“I’m going outback to read. I can’t sleep.” She told him coldly.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Asher looked up, eyes flickering over her for a moment. "Okay." He said in response. "Is everything all right?" He questioned, standing and walking over to her. He was much taller than her, seven inches taller in total. He looked down at her. God, she looked so different from…he couldn't think of that now. "If something is irritating you, please tell me so i can fix it." He knew he sounded very formal. He knew he sounded… uptight and distant. But he wasn't sure how elsr to sound. If he tried to sound loving, it would just come across as forced and fake. Which it would be.

@Toxic_Persephone group

Arabella looked up at him and fought the urge to scowl. “No, I am fine. I just can’t sleep is all. I thought I would waste away today just because I could but I can’t sleep.” I can’t stop thinking about what it would be like to love your husband…

“If you need me for anything, I’ll be outside.” She replied cooly, looking him up and down. The fae was beautifully built and incredibly handsome. She was almost sad she couldn’t have fallen for him before they married. Maybe she wouldn’t hate him as much

@ElderGod-Icefire

Asher nodded. "Alright. You know, if you need or want it, i have some sleep medication that would help you to fall asleep." He said. "It's in the cupboard in the bathroom." He sighed softly, dragging his hand through his hair again, making the black waves stick up a bit, rather than lat flat, combed. He straightened the cuffs of his shirt with a soft sigh. What would it be like if we actually loved each other? If we weren't… this? He almost wished that he could have had the chance to court her, to fall in love with her, before marrying. But they hadn't gotten that chance. Likely, this would be the rest of their lives. This stilted, cold conversation. Not touching each other. Laying in bed beside each other, hardly able to so much as glance in the others direction.
