Cicada saw the pup charge and created a thick wall of fire around herself. She shot one of her fire balls at the pup, any defense River might have would be forced down.

(Just for future reference @camiestrange, that could technically be counted as godmodding, as I didn't agree that Hyunwoo was sent backward. Just make sure to watch for that next time. It's okay though.)

"That's what I'm talking about!" he jeered, tucking himself in a roll and landing on the ground on his feet. "I knew you had it in you. What else?"

Riverpaw barely dodged the fireball, but felt her 'shield' weaken completely. She panicked a little when she saw the fire wall, but she kept running. "Dodge!" At the last second, Riverpaw turned and ran around the wall, looking for an opening somewhere.

(Sorry. Evie just had it all built up. Her first blow is always the strongest. But like her others aren't too weak or anything. Just in comparison. Sorry!)

"Don't," she said. Jocelyn was beginning to resurface. "You don't understand…"

"Everyone has a little Evil Queen, c'mon, bring it out," he teased, standing up. "What was that? Aerokinesis? Telekinesis?"

There was no opening in the wall. Cicada had been perfecting this almost all summer. The pup would have to jump through the fire.

Evie clapped her hands onto her temples and moaned through gritted teeth.

"I haven't even done anything yet. What's with the groan?" he asked.

"See? You can't get through can ya?" Her best friend, another fire-user, was always so eager to help her learn how to fight against fire magic. "If you wanna get to me, you're gonna have to-"
"Jump through!? Th-that'll hurt so bad! Especially now that my shield's gone!" Riverpaw took a deep breath. She could always wait until Cicada got tired enough to lower the wall, but this girl was clearly much stronger than her, who knows how long she could keep this up?
"Don't think, j-just-" Riverpaw held her breath as she stopped, turned, and jumped straight at the fire. "Stars, that's hot!"

"Jocelyn, don't…"
"Too late!" Evie transformed and Jocelyn took her place. She smiled sweetly at Hyunwoo and waved. "Hi."

Cicada wasn't surprised as River jumped through the flames. As she jumped through Cicada made an opening behind her and stepped out. She encircled River by closing the opening. She was shockingly not tired yet.

Riverpaw skidded to a stop, shaking her fur. "Ow, ow, w-wasn't too bad, but ow-wait…uh oh." Riverpaw turned around, eyes wide as she realized she'd been tricked. "Oh…well. I-I can't get enough speed in here t-to jump through without it hurting.." She sat down and sighed, then looked around one more time, trying to think of something.

Cicada looked over to Coach Wilson. She called out, "I think this means I win right? She cant exactly get out…"

Really she didn't want to risk hurting River anymore.

"I-I could try to use another e-energy shield to make a big enough hole…" She stood up and tried, but, as she expected, it didn't work. The ability was too weak now from the first time, and the fire was probably too strong anyway. Oh well. "O-okay, I-I give up! Please let me out!"

Cicada let the wall down and smiled apologetically at River, "Sorry about that. I needed to test it out on someone."

(She changes form. Like, completely different personality wise, but you have to really know her to understand the difference between Evie and Jocelyn. Mostly, their personality is how you can tell. And their voices. Does this make sense?)

(So really what you're saying is Hyunwoo will have no idea either way that she transformed into Jocelyn?)

"Cut," Coach Wilson called out to Cicada and River. "First duel has been concluded, our winner, Cicada. Next pair, London and Kamryn."

Riverpaw's ears dropped to her head as she looked at the floor. "Y-yeah, that's fair. G-good match." She shifted into her human form, her tail and ears still out, and smiled at Cicada.

(No, he will. Just probably not right off the bat. Give it, like, a minute at most and he'll know.)

(Okay then.)

He raised an eyebrow, not afraid to admit he was unimpressed by the sudden character change. "Hello to you too. Thought we already established names."
