"Welcome to Dueling Class," said the teacher, who stood on the training mats, holding a megaphone. She was behind a wall of indestructible glass, placed there after an incident one year that injured the crowd as well. "My name is Coach Wilson, also known as the superhero, Jambaree, but obviously, I've retired," she continued, glaring at the students who continued to talk. "Know I don't take nonsense in this class. I see you open your mouth, you automatically drop and give me fifty, got it?" She paused and glanced at her clipboard, searching for the first dueling pair. "Alright, we do this by pairs. Every duel is two minutes. Whoever pins the other down by then wins. And one more thing…"
A black-haired boy with a bored face walked into the dueling room and stood next to Coach Wilson, giving the other students borderline threatening looks.
"This is my nephew, Hyunwoo," Coach Wilson announced. "He'll be joining you for the rest of the year, and he'll also help run Dueling Class. Now, our first duel."
Cicada nodded and waited to hear the pairs. Dueling was her other favorite class, it was always a blast.
Ferran stared off into space. Drama at home. Drama at school. Drama in my dorm. I am by far the chillest person here.
Alex quietly chuckled to himself as he thought this is gonna be fun
Riverpaw shuddered a little. She was meant to be healer, not a fighter, wolf form be darned. She looked around at all the students, most much large and stronger-looking than herself. "M-maybe if I let myself g-get pinned, it'll be fine. Oh, stars, p-please don't let me get paired with one of the bigger kids."
"Let's uh, give some of you a warm up. Evie and Hyunwoo, Cicada and Riverpaw. Dueling floor, now," Coach Wilson ordered, gesturing to the two separate dueling mats she was standing in between. Hyunwoo moved from her side to stand on one of the mats, not even doing so much as to stretch.
Alice rolled her head around as she stood by and watched in excitement.
Cicada walked over to the mat and quickly stretched. It was a just her warming up.
(On the teacher's sheet, she would be called Evangeline. Just saying. I sorry, that's just me being picky.)
Evie's stomach flipped. Hyunwoo looked so intimidating. She looked nervously at Cicada for help.
