Riverpaw winced a little and looked at him sadly. "Th-that sounds….u-unpleasant. Are you okay?"

"yeah I'm fine." he shrugged

He raised an eyebrow, about to say, Dramatic much? when he noticed the change of color in her irises and narrowed his eyes. The serpents around him hissed threateningly like they were daring her to attack. What the hell is she?

Riverpaw's first instinct as a healer, and a naturally good-hearted person, was to try and hug him, but she didn't want to be rude or intrude his personal space. "U-um, mind if I a-ask your name?"

"Name's Alex Mercer." he held out a hand for River to shake "nice to meet you."

She shook his hand, being quick to put it back in her lap. "R-Riverpaw Wolfe. Nice to m-meet you too."

Jocelyn cackled. A barrage of dark swords pelted the mat, starting just in front of her and heading towards Hyunwoo. She threw back her head and laughed. As she did, a necklace flipped out from where it was tucked under her shirt.

"This is a warm up!" he exclaimed. "Holy shit—" The serpents leaped forward, opening their mouths, revealing sharp venomous fangs, and literally swallowed the swords. "I'm pretty sure it's been longer than two minutes, coach!"

Riverpaw looked away, nodding to Alex. "Yes please, a-anything to distract from the fight."

"Coach, isn't time up?" Alice spoke up. She wanted the fight to end now.

Riverpaw gasped and scooted back, looking up at the armor. Immediately, she shifted into her wolf form and curled her tail protectively around herself. "W-woah. Th-that's…cool."

he sat back down and the plates of obsidian faded into nothing.

Coach Wilson knew it had far past two minutes, but she was curious in Evie's abilities. She narrowed her eyes and wrote something down on her clipboard before calling off the duel gone wrong. "Cut! Next, Ferran and Aeraphina."

Cicada sighed I relief as the duel ended. But she knew Jocelyn might not let up.

Alex stared at Jocelyn hoping that she would calm the fuck down.

Alice was still tense, waiting for Jocelyn to turn back into Evie.

Jocelyn scowled. There was no way that she was letting up now. She had just tapped into Darkness. Black fog steamed out from beneath her shoes and swirled around her ankles before spiraling outward, attempting to coat the entire arena floor.
