"Of course," Jude smiled, watching as an orange butterfly delicately drifted through the air, "Yeah, we'll definitely go. And it's real pretty when it's windy out– just miles and miles of yellow flowers swaying."
"Of course," Jude smiled, watching as an orange butterfly delicately drifted through the air, "Yeah, we'll definitely go. And it's real pretty when it's windy out– just miles and miles of yellow flowers swaying."
Nyx nodded, blue eyes tracking the butterflies with a soft smile on his face. "Okay!" He replied happily, kissing Jude's cheek softly.
Jude smiled for what seemed to be the hundredth time that day, and was met with a familiar fluttering in his stomach. "Can I uh…ask you something?" He said to Nyx, looking at him fondly.
Nyx looked up at him and nodded a little bit. "Sure." he replied. He turned again to watch the butterflies, watching them lazily drifting around the room.
"Do you…get, like, the fluttering in your stomach, sometimes?" Jude asked, running his hand through his hair and letting out a soft laugh, "–Butterflies. It's funny, 'cause you give me butterflies, and well– we're in a room of butterflies."
Nyx looked up at Jude, and considered Jude's words for a moment. "Oh. Well. I…I guess i do." he said slowly, smiling up at Jude. "I didn't know they were called butterflies, though."
"–It's what they would feel like, I think." Jude lightly shrugged, smiling as butterflies drifted like falling flower petals around them, "It's nice, though."
"Why would you eat butterflies, though? And have them end up in your stomach? That just sounds gross." Nyx wrinkled his nose.
"No– y'don't ea–" Jude laughed, shaking his head amusedly, "No one eats butterflies. We just call it that." He smiled warmly, looking at him, "It's just…what it feels like, you know– when you kiss someone or…whatever."
"Oh." He looked at Jude, nodding slowly. "That makes sense." He reached up to run a hand through Jude's hair, smiling a little bit.
Jude let out a long sigh, looping an arm around his waist as Nyx looked at him with his bright blue eyes and his little smile. "You gettin' hungry yet?" He asked, noting that it was a little after twelve.
Nyx leaned against Jude contentedly. "Mm…not really." he replied, watching the butterflies with that same wide-eyed, happy awe in his face.
"M'kay, tell me when," Jude said with a nod, his eyes trailing a fluttering Monarch butterfly that sat to rest on a bright pink flower petal, "There's this little cafe I like to go to for lunch; it's in Little Italy."
Nyx nodded a little bit, watching as the butterflies flew around them, smiling softly. "Okay." he replied simply.
"Oh– look at this one," Jude gestured excitedly, pointing at a long-winged butterfly with black and white stripes, "It's like a…zebra."
Nyx watched the butterfly. "Ooh. Pretty." he commented, leaning his head on Jude's shoulder and smiling softly as he watched the butterflies around them.
"Very pretty," Jude nodded, reaching out to touch its paper-thin wings. It fluttered and took off from the little branch it was perched on, softly moving through the air. "Which one do you think is prettiest?"
"I don't know." he replied, looking at all of them. "Maybe those blue ones?" he pointed to one of the larger ones, its wings a beautiful iridescent blue color.
"Mhhm, those are cool," Jude smiled, watching as it busied itself with the pollen of a flower, "Shimmery."
He nodded, watching the butterflies. "I'm hungry now." he said after a few more minutes, looking up at Jude. "Can we go get food?"
(should Nyx ask about babies while they're at the restaurant?)
"Yeah, for sure," Jude nodded, taking his hand and slowly moving towards the door, waving a silent goodbye to the butterflies. "I can't wait to see you try coffee."
(sure, maybe after they eat?)
Nyx cocked his head slightly as he followed Jude. "Coffee?" he asked curiously, raising an eyebrow at Jude and wondering what that meant.
(kk)
"Oh yeah," Jude nodded with a cheeky smile as they walked the path back to the parking lot, "I love coffee. It's a drink– ugh." He shook his head, smiling widely, "It's kind of bitter– but with sugar and cream its liquid heaven, for me."
He shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Mm." he replied softly. "I guess I'll have to try it." he gave Jude a quick smile.
"Sure, first time for everything," Jude nodded, smiling as they passed the penguins from the beginning of their visit.
