He frowned a little bit. "Ewww." He replied, wrinkling his nose. "That sounds gross. And scary." He replied.
He frowned a little bit. "Ewww." He replied, wrinkling his nose. "That sounds gross. And scary." He replied.
"Mhhm," Jude agreed, turning the corner and moving down a long street, knowing that they were in the Bronx. "It's an urban legend– like I said, but yeah–" He smiled, "Gross."
Nyx let out a soft chuckle, smiling over at Jude. "Hmm. Alright." He replied, shifting in his seat. "Are we almost there??"
(Ooh so what if Jude brought Nyx into the petting zoo first, and Nyx sees all the small children and goes "what are those creatures??")
"Yes," Jude said with a knowing smile, "I can see the parking lot– up there." He nodded further north of their overcrowded street, practically feeling the excitement radiating off of Nyx beside him.
(hah yes– 'they let them roam free?')
Nyx shifted again, hardly able to keep still. "Yes!" He exclaimed, peering ahead as if he could somehow see the zoo ahead of them. He bit his lip.
(Hahahaha yesss)
Jude pulled into the zoo's crowded parking lot with a growing smile on his face, shutting the engine off and releasing his seatbelt. He checked his pockets for all the things he needed; wallet, phone, and now keys, before turning to face Nyx, "You ready? There's gonna be a lot of people."
Nyx bit his lip, then nodded. "Just, uhm…don't leave me alone? Or I'll probably get lost?" he smiled over at Jude, biting his lip a little bit, taking a deep breath.
"Relax, I'm not gonna ditch ya," Jude said, smiling before he gave Nyx a quick kiss. "And…there are signs everywhere, it'll be okay." He opened his door and got out of his car, feeling a comfortable satisfaction at the shafts of warm sunlight beaming down.
He chuckled softly, nodding and getting out. "You better not." he replied, coming around the car to take Jude's hand, smiling up at the other male. "Thank you." he looked at the entrance to the zoo excitedly.
"It's…whatever," Jude muttered, shyly smiling as he looked down at the ground. They walked towards the admission, absentmindedly swinging their hands as he wondered how he'd found someone who could smile at him so brightly.
(well Jude, you found him in a pod inside of your father's company. That's how)
Nyx wrinkled his nose a little bit. "It's not whatever, but…fine." he replied, shaking his head a little bit. He kissed Jude's cheek, bouncing a little bit as they walked, so excited for the zoo.
(wow!!! can we get a round of applause!! For Pressing a Few Buttons™: Jude Crowe, ladies and gents)
"It's not a big deal, really." Jude smiled, "–I want you to be happy." He greeted the clerk handling admission and paid for their tickets, thanking them and grabbing two maps as they squeezed through the entrance.
(lmaooo)
Nyx smiled. "I'd be happy without this. The zoo. But…thanks." he replied, looking around as they entered, blue eyes wide and excited.
"Okay," Jude breathed, glancing around the zoo for some signs, bustling with life. Tourists and locals moved through the twisting paths, children squealing with delight as they chased a yellow butterfly. "Hmm, petting zoo?" Jude suggested, pointing at a fenced-off area in the shade where rabbits, guinea pigs, chicks, and baby goats roamed freely.
Nyx looked at the petting zoo, biting his lip a little bit. "Uhm…okay." he said, excited to see any animals at all that he could see.
Jude smiled, giving Nyx's hand a reassuring squeeze before moving towards the little gate with him, the sound of squealing children and chatting parents taking pictures, filling the space with smiles. "Come on, you get to hold and pet them."
He spotted the children, and his eyes narrowed in suspicion. "What are the little two-legged…things?" he asked slowly, looking at Jude and wrinkling his nose a little bit. "They're very loud."
"Two-legged?" Jude echoed, scanning the straw-covered floor for what he meant. A curly-haired toddler squealed at a bunny, promptly running back to his parents, screaming through his giddy laughter. "Which ones? I don't see them."
Nyx pointed at the toddler. "The screaming ones." he replied, wrinkling his nose a little bit as his gaze tracked another toddler through the enclosure.
Jude scanned the ground for any animals that might be making noise. “I don’t hear any—“ He started, then his eyes landed on a squealing child, and he turned to Nyx in disbelief, “Wh— you mean the kids?”
Nyx wrinkled his nose again. "Is that what they're called?" he replied, eyes tracking the child as it came closer, then he looked at Jude again.
Another wobbly child came wandering past them, waving at them after picking up a bunny nearby, "Hello!!"
Jude let out a bewildered laugh, "Yeah– they're children." He told him, amazed that he was really clarifying that.
Nyx frowned. "And…what are they?" he asked, cocking his head at the little child, then looking at Jude, curious and unsure.
"What are they?" Jude echoed, baffled that Nyx genuinely didn't know. "They're– children." He repeated, "They aren't animals; they're people. Young people. Offspring."
