"As much as I'd love to watch them waddle around all day, there are other animals." Jude reminded him, holding his hand as he walked towards the signpost, which had a few other signs pointing down different paths. "We can come back if we have time at the end," He smiled.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx nodded, walking with him towards the signpost. "Hmm. Alright." he replied, kissing Jude's cheek softly. He sighed softly. "What animal's next?"

Jude let out a short breath, studying the signs. "This is the way to the animals of Madagascar," He said, pointing to the sign on his left, and then to his right, "This way to the animals of the African Plains."

"As much as we can, yeah. There'll be more exhibits as we walk around, and we've got maps everywhere." Jude smiled, glancing at the map of the zoo also posted, "But which one should we go to next?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

He bounced a little bit, then bit his lip. "I…uhm…I don't know. You pick." he replied, still ecited and unable too hide that he was." he grinned excitedly.

Jude smiled, sighing before he loosely gestured to the left. "Madagascar it is," He said, starting down the path under a canopy of leaves above.

"You know," Jude started, "I don't always have to choose." He smiled at the towering trees above, shading them from the sun as they walked to the next exhibits, "I notice that you sometimes don't wanna pick between any options I give you."

@ElderGod-Icefire

(won't be super active tonight sorry)

Nyx frowned a little bit. "Oh. Uhm." He ran a hand through his hair. "Okay?" He said slowly. He wasn't sure what Jude wanted him to do about that.

(all good!! its also my last week of school so acckkk its chaotic)

"I'm just saying, you can make these little choices, too." He shrugged, his eyes being drawn to a small crowd of people gathering at the edge of the different habitats, looking at the animals on the other side of the glass. "Ooh, a lemur," Jude smiled, pointing up at the animal in a tree and its great brown eyes staring back.

"Wh– I'm looking," Jude chuckled, weaving through the people and muttering the occasional "Sorry," and "Excuse me."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx didn't seem to notice the other people, moving right up to the enclosure to look at the lemurs, his blue eyes bright and happy and curious.

"Hmm, lemurs," Jude smiled, waving at the one closest and staring straight at them. He couldn't see the board of information from where he stood, so just settled on admiring the animals in front of them.

"You think everything is cute," Jude said, watching as they climbed from branch to branch, wide-eyed and oblivious to the attention they received.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx stuck his tongue out at Jude. "Do not." he replied. "I don't think children are cute. I think they're loud and obnoxious." he looked at the lemurs again.

Deleted user

"But not all of them," Jude smiled, wondering what Nyx would have been like as a child. "–Like, what about that one?" He suggested, pointing at a sleeping baby in a stroller, with its button nose and rosy cheeks, "Even I can admit that one's cute."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx looked at the baby, cocking his head a little bit. "Well…maybe. But that one is small. And quiet." He replied, shaking his head slightly.

Deleted user

"Well– yeah. That one doesn't know how to make as much noise, it's only a baby." Jude softly laughed, watching a toddler waddle up to the glass, gasp in delight at the sight of the lemurs, and run back to their parents. How could he not want to smile at that?

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx shrugged a little bit, looking at the toddler for a moment. It's not fair. He thought. Why didn't I get that? Why didn't I get to be loved and cuddled and wanted and taken to the zoo instead of being in the same four concrete walls…?

Jude softly tilted his head to the side, resting it against Nyx's shoulder. "Don't worry," He smiled, "Not all of New York is kid-infested. We've got rats and roaches, instead."
