Saul spun his blade in his hands. “Specialist training today, Anya?”

" yup!" she said

He nodded. “Alright, let’s see it.”

anya gave him her best, never using her powers. anya smiled " hows that?"

Saul nodded with approval. “It looked good. Your speed and strength are there. You’ve improved greatly.”

" thank you saul." she said. " im really hoping to be able to protect eve, even if my magic goes out.."

A smile tugged at his lips. “I know. Farah… may be a bit harder to convince.”

" i know" she fake whined.

Saul scratched the back of his head with a grin. “She only means well. I know you both want the same thing. For Eve to be safe.”

" i was surprised when she came out there.. but we would have lost you guys if we didnt.."

Saul cleared his throat. “Yes… I haven’t gotten to thank you.”

" its nothing. its the new generations job isnt it?"

Saul arched his eyebrows a bit, mimicking a micro expression his wife and daughter often used. “Are you calling me and Farah old?”

"no! no not at all, im just saying, your training us to help, eventually we'll step in completely. whats the use if we cant protect you now?"

Saul looked away and nodded. “Yep, you called us old.”

" im sorry." she said and gave a defeated face

Saul laughed. “Anya, I know. I understand you wanting to help. It’s just… Farah, she…”

" doesnt like her daughter with someone who puts her in danger?" she finished his sentance

Saul pressed his lips together. “That’s a part of it.”

" and my teacher.." she mumbled

“Another part,” Saul confirmed.

".." anyas head lowered as her anxiety spiked up again " what if i really am not good enough like everyone says.."

Saul frowned. “Who says you’re not good enough?”

" a lot of people, specially people who knew me the longest. i cant focus a simple flame before it explodes.."

Saul inhaled slowly. “That’s not your fault. Obviously whoever first taught you was flawed.”
