"And why would I tell you that? To get more people executed?" She countered, raising a brow.
"And why would I tell you that? To get more people executed?" She countered, raising a brow.
“I can’t say that won’t happen, but it may be able to save your own skin,” Santiago responded calmly, throwing a glance over to Alec.
She sighed, thinking through everything. Rylan saw Commander Cardoso's gaze harden at her comment. She turned back towards Santiago.
"I don't work with the Patriots." Rylan finally answered. "I haven't worked with anyone for a long time."
Santiago nodded slowly, then turned towards Alec. “Is there anything else we could try?”
Alec stepped towards her.
"All those crimes," He started, his gaze icy and dangerous. "You couldn't have done them alone. Destroying a whole base of fighter jets. Getting into Republic airships."
"Commander, don't doubt me." She replied, a small smile playing on her lips.
Alec snarled and brought his boot down hard on her wrapped up leg. Rylan let out a yelp of pain as Alec kneeled down.
"Answer our questions." He growled, pushing himself back up. He turned towards Santiago. "Get the slides of the Patriots."
Santiago’s eyes widened, and the grimace and guilt showed through at the pained sound. He nodded quickly and stood, going to a laptop that was outside of the cell and bringing it in. He typed on the keys for a moment before pulling up a slide show like document of photographs.
She closed her eyes as her leg throbbed. Alec hit her shoulder with the bottom of his gun.
"Do you recognize any of these people?" He motioned towards the screen. An image of a eighteen year old boy with copper curls and sky blue eyes came up.
"No." She answered.
The next image was of a very muscular girl with sandy blond hair. The girl she fought at the Skiz fight. Alec glanced down at Rylan. "Never seen her in my life."
Another one was of a dark skinned girl with green eyes. "Nope."
They went on and on until they reached the end.
“See? She doesn’t really know anything that you think that she knows. Her heart rate never increased, which meant she wasn’t lying,” Santiago explained, tapping a few keys on the laptop.
Alec nodded once and he returned his gaze to Santiago. "Continue to ask questions."
He walked out of the room and stood next to the guards.
Santiago nodded and set the laptop aside. Once he knew they were alone, he sat down, a bit closer to her this time. “You have to give him at least something, or he’s going to hurt you worse,” he said. He reached over and gently felt around the injury on her leg, checking to see if it was re-opened.
She grimaced in pain, but nodded. "I don't have anything. Your commander hates me. . . more then he should."
“Sorry. Any reason why?” Santiago asked. He quickly moved his hand away from her, resting it on his lap.
"I have no clue." Rylan sighed, tucking a strand of dark hair behind her ear. Bruises and cuts lined her cheeks, and faint circles hung under her eyes.
Santiago sighed and reached over, resting his palm on her cheek. “They really need to let you rest. I’ll go talk to Alec, and also see if I can get you some pain medication. Sound good, compañera?”
She reached up and put her hand against Santiago's. Rylan nodded. "That sounds good. Thank you."
“Good,” Santiago said, smiling. “I’ll be back as soon as I can be.” He got up, lowering his hand back to his side. He went to the door and slipped out. “That’s all for now, sir. She seems to sleep deprived to think right, maybe we can get more from her once she rests.”
Alec nodded. "Go rest as well, Santiago. We'll continue this in the morning."
He turned towards the guards and continued his conversation.
She watched Santiago leave the room and rested her head against the wall. Rylan looked around and saw the cameras in the room, one in each corner. So far, they were turned off. Her eyelids felt heavy, and after a few minutes she fell asleep.
Santiago nodded and walked down the hall towards the medical area. He approached one of the nurses. “Are there any pain pills you can give me, ma’am? I have the worst migraine right now. Probably just the weather, huh?” He said, flashing a smile. The woman laughed and nodded, telling him to wait a moment and she went away to get them.
(Should we jump to morning or is there something else you have planned for right now?)
( we can jump to the morning )
(Alright, cool.)
Santiago had woken up bright and early. He had a small pill bottle of high strength pain pills in his pocket. He made his way to the cell area, running his fingers through his wet hair. He took a small tray of food from the guards, saying that he would take it in to give to her. He went into the cell and shut the door behind him. “Morning, compañera!”
She woke up and looked around the room. The lights were still as bright as they were last night. Rylan didn't even know what day it was.
Santiago walked over to her and sat in the other chair, setting the tray of food down. “I don’t know how good that is, but the good news is, I got some pain pills.”
