“Thanks, Rick.” Tanrial gave the man a smile before heading back over to the others, placing her hands in her pockets.
“Thanks, Rick.” Tanrial gave the man a smile before heading back over to the others, placing her hands in her pockets.
"Hey, thanks," Mike said when he noticed her again. "So, I kinda forgot where we were gonna put you in the plan. Was it same as me, with the bulldozer? I think so, since we were both part of the team that was gonna recover the kids."
(off to bed, seeya tomorrow ^^)
Tanrial nodded, "That would make the most sense, yeah. I can't actually remember us discuassing where we were going to be but, that works."
(Seeya ^^)
(Ooft, forgot to mention I won't be active little to at all tomorrow due to school dance rehearsal/concert stuffs. Sorry, see you as soon as I can! ^^)
(all good, see you when I see you! ^^)
Mike folded up the map as the rest of the leaders started heading back to their armies. "Yeah, we figured out that Bernon would go with the Night Stalkers, but…" he lowered his voice. "…I think we actually forgot about you and me. Oh well, I probably would have suggested that we go with the 'dozer anyway." He stuck the map in his pocket and picked up the lantern from the table. "Looks like everybody's almost ready. Let's go wait for them by the tavern."
Tanrial nodded as they made their way over to the tavern, avoiding people who were hurriedly running around to prepare, "Do you think we can pull this off? I mean, we have enough people to hopefully take out Ryker's forces but it's the kids I'm worried about…"
"We're the best people for the task since we know the layout of the base, we've met the kids before, we befriended them at least a little, and we've seen firsthand how twisted Ryker's plan is." Mike spoke with firm confidence. "It looks like Rick's going in with us to help fend off what's left of security, so he should be able to buy us plenty of time to round up the kids, explain what's going on, and get them out of there. Besides, remember Wren and Casper? They said they'd help us. The others are more likely to listen if two of their own siblings stick up for us."
“I guess you’re right. At least we have people on the inside that can help us out, that should make things a lot easier… even though this whole thing isn’t easy.”
"We can do it." Mike gave her a little smile and waved at Bernon as he came over. "Hey Bern. How you doing?"
"Good," Bernon said. "You guys?"
“All good for us. Everything is in order so let’s kusf hope we can pull together and do this.” Tanrial smiled slightly.
"Agreed."
Just then the rest of the leaders arrived with their troops. It was quite a crowd, all told, and they made for an intimidating sight. Mike turned to face them and spoke quietly but clearly. "Okay. We've got some ground to cover, and we gotta do it fast. We gotta stay quiet, too, so spread out a bit and don't call out to each other unless in emergency. Ruin, I want you and some other strong men to tow the tractor there since we can't turn it on yet." He pointed at the low hills framed against the rising moon. "I did some scouting yesterday and I found a channel of lower ground we can travel on to get through the hills. Trouble, you guys go first. Let's head out."
(off to bed, seeya tomorrow ^^)
"Remember to stick to the plans, too. Only abort where necessary. Let's get going." The troops headed out, the darkness gladly covering them while they quietly made their way through to the channel that Mike had told them about.
(Seeya ^^)
(I'm not sure how much I'll be on today since it's Thanksgiving for us (do you guys celebrate Thanksgiving?) and we have to meet with relatives. I might be on this evening briefly but, I'm not sure. Seeya tomorrow ^^)
They traveled for a good hour in silence, warily keeping close to each other so they didn't be come separated as they passed through the shadows beneath the trees. Every torch had been put out for the moment, and every lantern had its shutters closed. The only light came from the small group hauling the bulldozer, as they needed to be able to see the path ahead.
Eventually they traversed the final hill and stopped in a small valley just outside of Ryker's property. Trouble came back from the front to find Mike and spoke in a low voice.
"All quiet down there. No fires or signs of movement."
"Good. Let's get started then." Mike said. He turned to Thranion, who was nearby. "Thranion, we need those Night Stalkers now. Have them sneak right into the center of the property if they can and give us some x-rays of what's down there. Bernon will go with them to relay the results."
(That's fine, sorry I haven't been on today I have like 3 assignments and a folio to write before next week so I'm super busy. Happy Thanksgiving to you and no, we don't celebrate it. Seeya soon ^^)
Thranion nodded, "Gotcha. Come on Bernon." He inclined his head and headed off to a small group standing in the shadows not too far away. They all wore hoods over their heads and Thranion muttered something to the closest who nodded once in acknowledgement but didn't say anything. The man that Thranion had spoken to, turned to the others like himself and seemed to be having a silent conversation with them before they headed off towards the base.
(Don't worry about it! ^^ Hope your assignments go well!)
Bernon waved goodbye and followed the Night Stalkers through the trees, doing his best to be as stealthy as they were. Okay, he mentally said to Tanrial. I'm connecting right now, just to make sure there's no…I don't know, interference around here. I could totally see Ryker inventing a magical signal-jammer.
Me too. If he doesn't have one then he's probably inventing one. She said back.
"Right, there doesn't seem to be anything interfering with our mental communications but that doesn't mean Ryker hasn't set up anything else along those lines."
"Okay, good to know. Everybody watch your step in there." Mike folded his arms and started to pace back and forth restlessly. "Guess all we can do now is wait for them to get back."
Okay, Bernon said. We're right over the base. Stand by for a report soon.
Got it.
The Night Stalkers had another of their creepy silent conversations before they split up. They barely made any sound, scouting carefully and quickly for anything that would be of use. There were small, concentrated bursts of dark blue light that arose on occasion before the group came back to Bernon.
Group of about fifty men stationed around some machine. Another two patrol groups around the room the machine is stationed in.
Bernon nodded and passed the information on to Tanrial. That makes sense. How about the two entrances?
(arrgh so my computer suddenly started running updates (I'm actually using my sister's laptop to write this) and now I have to go to supper, so…..>.< Sorry! I'll see you tomorrow I guess!)
Back one is has been boarded up but shouldn't be too hard to hard to break down. The other has about three guards stationed by the door and another three patrolling near by.
(Ooft, alrighty. I've got assignments to write anyway X_X Seeya tomorrow!
Okay. Thanks. Oh, one more thing, then we can head back: are all the kids asleep in their rooms? Bernon hoped so, but he knew there was a good chance that at least Eric would still be up and about.
The man that came into the tavern the other day is missing, same with another two.
