Jade landed at the edge of town. She hopped off elated and hugged Dawn. She walked back into town, time to go work on her alchemy.
Jade landed at the edge of town. She hopped off elated and hugged Dawn. She walked back into town, time to go work on her alchemy.
Zodiac broke into a grin and jogged over to them, her dark hair whipping in the wind. "Did you get back just now?" She asked, finally making it towards the two, stopping and putting her hands on her hips as her dragon, Realm, bounded over. He nuzzled his snout against her hand as she continued to face them.
Aurelius turned when Charlie greeted Zodiac. He waved at the girl and moved over to allow her to physically be closer to the conversation.
"Anyway… yeah… I'm always worried to death about Nox. I think she's adorable, but all everyone else sees is a big scary dragon with wings darker than the night."
"Yeah I just got back a few minutes ago" He greeted Zodiac, turning to welcome her into the conversation "Jekyll may be quick but he's not the strongest for sure so if he can't get away fast enough I don't even want to think about what would happen" He said
Zodiac patted Realm's head as she listened to Charlie and Aurelius talk. "Another attack on the dragons?" She asked, a serious expression replacing her smile.
Jade continued walking as she passed a group of people talking. She doesn't know many people in the town very well and doesn't really know how to introduce herself.
"No, no," Aurelius reassured her, "We're talking hypothetically. I had to rescue a wild dragon from being killed recently, and it just got me to worrying about Nox."
Zodiac nodded, her gaze relaxing. "I've heard from people that their have been more attacks on the wild dragons. If only I could go out there and help myself. . . but the elders won't let me." She sighed, shaking her head faintly.
"I try to help as much as I can when I'm gone" Charlie says "I'm sure they'll let you go someday" He said reassuring Zodiac
"It's not because of your age, though. It's because of who your parents are," Aurelius explained, "They're probably afraid of losing you too. But if you're anything like your parents, you hold great strength, and the Elders are missing out on having you on the team."
"Thanks, Aurelius." Zodiac replied, grinning and blushing faintly from the compliment. Was that true? Just because of her parents, they didn't want her leaving the village?
"Agreed, both you and Realm would do great" He says smiling lightly. A slight breeze blows his blue hair into his face and he pushes it back up. "Besides although I leave a lot I start to miss this place." He says looking to the village "That's why I always come back" He shrugged
"And that's why I only leave on smaller missions," Aurelius admitted, "I don't think I could handle being so homesick. I'd certainly have to go with a group."
"We missed you, Charlie." Zodiac smiled, nudging him playfully as she glanced over and watched Realm bound around the fields. She bit her bottom lip as she thought, wondering if she could convince the elders to let her go with Aurelius and Charlie. They would most likely say no. Maybe Cain would say yes? She doubted that too.
Jade sighed as she walked up to her house. She walked to the back to see if she could harvest anything from her garden.
Charlie chuckled "Yeah yeah I missed you guys too" He responded he looked over at Jekyll who was currently rolling around, getting covered in grass
"Looks like Jekyll's happy to be back, too," Aurelius said, eyeing the big dragon who was rolling in the grass. He sighed a little.
"I feel like there's something the elders aren't telling us, though…"
Zodiac leaned back against her own dragon, nodding in agreement with Aurelius. "They always seem to be keeping things from us. . . maybe something in the villages." She added, this thought further fueling her excitement of exploring.
The giant red dragon had slowly started to close his yellow eyes, the sun warm against his red, gold, and black scales. The massive beast released a loud prrum which sounded like a faint rumble of thunder. The ground seemingly vibrated around him. He remained in the field, awaiting his rider's return. He already knew what Cain was doing at the moment, trying to drink his sorrows away. Something his rider did now and then.
The dragon released a loud sigh. The tip of his tail twitched every now and then as he remained laying in place. His head slowly turned to the side, taking note of the small group. He had noticed the smaller dragon, which was soon joined by several other dragons. Even compared to the dragons present, Jun was a giant compared to them all. However, his size came with age. He himself could not even remember his own age.
Small streams of black smoke started to rise from his nostrils as he continued to observe from his spot in the field.
Jade looked through her garden picking up anything that was ripe. Dawn was waiting outside the front door, having been ban from the garden after an incident a few weeks ago. Jade returned to the front she looked to Dawn and smiled, ~When are you going to talk to others?
Jade looked at Dawn, "What do you mean? I'm fine by myself ya know."
Dawn rolled her eyes, ~No you're not. You're a social creature, and I do not count.
Jade let out a small whine, "Do I have to?"
Dawn snorted, ~Eventually.
"Hmm I obviously haven't spoken to them in a while so I don't know" He answered thinking about it he looked over to Jekyll who was now running around the field "He's always happy unless I refuse to play with him" He chuckled
Zodiac looked over and laughed as her own dragon, Realm, bounded over to Jekyll and jumped onto him, engaging in a playful fight. The dragon let out happy roars as she ran around, kneeling in the high grass and getting ready to pounce on Jekyll at any moment. Realm's dark scales glinted in the sunlight as she let out another energetic growl. Ever since Zodiac had met her, she thought that they reflected one another's personalities. Both free spirits, playful and adventurous.
Charlie watched the playful dragons, Jekyll being smaller in size and mass mostly bounded around trying to avoid Realm's attacks. He looked over and saw a large red dragon, laying and looking over at them. I'm pretty sure that's Cade's dragon he thought. He hadn't really talked to Cade much in the past but he knew Zodiac looked up to him and talked to him a lot.
Jun continued to watch the younger dragons as they ran about, playing like massive puppies. The red beast seemingly gave a chuckle as he observed them. Ah, there had been a time he himself had run about and romped with others. However, that was in his own, younger years. Now, as age came, Jundofaalsahqoshul, grew, becoming the beast he was now. Age meant little to a dragon though, when as a dragon, you could live for what felt like an eternity.
The red beast's tail remained curled around his side, yellow eyes glowing slightly. His pupils were mostly round, the spines along his back flattened, showing the red dragon's relaxed state. Jun shifted his paws slightly, his movement seemingly causing the earth around him to shiver ever so slightly. The giant beast's head turned, feeling eyes land upon him.
Those yellow orbs for eyes soon fell upon the one gazing at him, a young human. Jun recognized Zodiac swiftly and her dragon. The others and their dragons, Jun had either only heard a little bit about, or seen the wandering about. The red beast stared directly at the one who was looking at him. The dragon's yellow eyes seemingly stared right into the boy's soul, as if reading him.
Jun continued to let his eyes remain locked, before finally turning his gaze elsewhere.
Charlie saw the dragon looking at him. He didn't look away, he felt entranced by the dragons stare. He looked away from the dragon and continued watching Jekyll and Realm playing together. He was glad to be back and hoped to stay for a while before his next trip, Charlie was normally one they would go to for long trips usually to deliver some sort of message. His quick dragon could get to a destination fairly quickly but sometimes he just left on his own.
