Aurelius looked over to Farron. "Yeah… It's fine."
But it was not fine. He was terrified and in pain, and he was doing his best to not show it, because if he cracked under pressure, that would definitely lower everyone's morale.
Quincy tightly wound the bandages around the wounded area. The applied pressure should stop most, if not all bleeding. definitely keeping an eye on that one. She moved down to the one on his lower calf.
Aurelius winced a little as Quincy tended to his wounds. He hoped that this would be enough to stop the blood flow, because he'd already lost a good bit.
"Uh… thanks, Quincy," he muttered.
(I just thought about something while I was researching how to properly portray blood loss and very early stage hypovolemic shock. Does anyone else feel faint when getting their blood pressure taken and the cuff tightens around their arm? It makes me feel like I'm going to pass out, and idk if that's normal, because no one ever talks about it.)
(Ummm, I'm not sure.)
Quincy gave him a quick smile before finishing up on his calf. She sat back wiping her hands on her riding pants, "No problem. I would rather no one else die today."
"Did you see what happened?" he asked, referring to Valkyrie in particular, "I still can't believe it."
He wove his fingers together and hid his face in his hands.
"What happened? Did she turn against us?" Quincy moved back to Jade packing the supplies back into it's holding bag.
"Why else wouldn't she be here?" he asked, "She has no reason to stay back and help the village. She's never been the heroic type. I should've just let it go. She was going to let me get away, then I lashed out, so she did this." Aurelius was shaking his head. "I just can't understand why…"
Quincy shrugged as she sat against Jade, "I don't know. Everybody has there reasons, but I do feel hurt she chose that weird dude over her friends."
"Weird dude?" Aurelius asked, "Who…?"
He thought for a second. Still no one came to mind.
The man who couldn't talk to his dragon? Nox asked.
"Yeah, the one who kept trying to kidnap Mara," Quincy said, "It seemed like he was the one who lead the attack."
"Oh yeah… That guy. I was so focused on Val that I kind of forgot about him," Aurelius admitted.
His head was a little cloudy, though he didn't want to admit it.
Quincy moved back over placing her hand on his forehead to check for a temperature, "I don't blame you. You had other problems to worry about."
"I mean, if we want to get technical, I'm partially to blame for her turning. But also, the reasoning she gave was still unjustified. She's lost it. She can't get over the death of one person she loved. And trust me. I know how that feels, but never, not in a million years, would I have turned and helped in slaying a whole village."
Aurelius wiped a little sweat from his forehead. "Gods, I feel terrible."
Quincy pulled her hand back, "You look terrible too. Stop talking and get some rest. I did what I could for now. Now do yourself a favor."
Aurelius nodded. Nox walked over and curled around him to try comforting him, but he was still feeling like his whole world was ending. In a way it was. That village was the only place he'd ever lived.
Quincy returned back to leaning against Jade. The village had burned, how many like it had burned before? How many were yet to burn? Quincy didn't want more villages to burn. No one should go through that. Oh, who was she kidding. She sounded like a hypocrite. Had she not watched as her family burned people who thought dragons and humans could live in harmony. Had she not once lit a flame and heard their shrieking voices only to be shielded by her elder brother. No she was just as guilty.
Farron sighed, “Once you’re better, Aurelius, we should head north, there’s people there that can help us.”
"We don't have to wait that long. I just need to rest a little. I'm really tired," Aurelius replied, leaning back against Nox. He looked at his arm. A few splotches of blood had surfaced through the bandages.
Quincy looked to Aurelius. she got and sighed at the bandages, "We aren't leaving until you stop bleeding. And if that takes a week so be it."
“Luckily it won’t take long to reach cover, maybe a few days at most.” Farron said, shrugging a shoulder.
"I really shouldn't have attacked," he muttered, "I'm sorry."
Aurelius checked on his leg. It seemed like it may have stopped, but he wasn't entirely sure. Still, he was starting to feel worse and worse.
Quincy pulled out a new set of bandages and started to wrap up the old ones even tighter this time, "You followed your gut. And if you seriously don't get some rest soon your recovery time will be doubled."
"O-okay," Aurelius said.
He laid down against Nox's belly and tried to sleep, but the mixture of anxiety and pain kept him from doing so, even though he was worn out.
Quincy thought for a moment before reaching into her bag and grabbed a small pouch. Inside was a powder that she poured a little into her hand. she went back to Jade to grab her water flask. Using the closest thing to a cup she could find, Quincy mixed the powder into the water and brought it Aurelius, "Here."
“We should all rest, that’s probably the best option right now. I can keep watch for now.” Farron suggested.
