"Oh, that's cool," Aubry replied as she stuffed the cash in the register and dug out his change. "Here you go. Enjoy!"
Brooke walked out, now wearing a black shirt with a pale pink, purple, and blue logo spread across her chest reading "Coffee Island". Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and a hat matching her shirt sat atop her head. A black apron bearing the same logo as her shirt was tied around her waist.
She smiled at Jake as she walked out. "What'd you get?"
He swallowed thickly. "I uh… got a iced mocha and muffin.."
(Didn't he get an iced chai?)
"Sweet! The muffins here are the best, I'm sure you'll love it," Brooke exclaimed, beaming at him.
(Shoot he did.. Sorry I'm multitasking so)
(Lol. He did. We could just say he was too flustered to remember or something…)
(Yeah I guess lol)
"It certainly looks delicious…" He gave her a shy smile. "You look nice."
Brooke scrunched her nose up. "I do not. I'm wearing my work clothes," she argued.
"You look nice in anything, Brooke," he insisted. "Also, I'd be a bad boyfriend if I thought you looked nice at your best but not at your worst."
"Oh… Well, thanks…" Brooke said quietly, blushing. She reached back to absentmindedly comb her fingers through her ponytail.
He coughed. "Yeah. Um. So… I'll pick you up when you're shifts done I guess."
Brooke nodded. "I get off at two, so any time around then should work," she said, giving him a small smile. "Thanks for driving me."
Jake moved his arm behind his head, embarrassed. "What was I supposed to do? I couldn't have just left you to find other means of transportation…"
"But you still didn't have to drive me," Brooke argued, almost playfully. "I'm glad you did, though. Which is why I thanked you."
"Anytime," he promised, sincerity showing clear.
(Shoot, I thought I posted my response, like, 12 minutes ago…)
Brooke smiled, simply looking at him for a moment. She really loved him, and she was so glad they had moved forward with their relationship. A sharp pain in her side made her look to her left, glaring at Aubry.
"What?" she clipped.
Aubry chuckled. "You've gotta work, sweetheart."
"Right…"
(AHHHH I'M SORRY
Went to go eat
Also these two are so cute like)
Jacob cleared his throat. "Right. I don't want to prevent you from working so… I'll see you later."
(Lol, that's fine. I literally just got back from washing dishes.
And that is so true! They're adorable and fluffy!!!)
"Oh, yeah. Well, bye, Jake. See you later, I guess," Brooke said with a small wave and a smile.
(Do you want to skip until later, or just let them go through Brooke's whole shift?)
(Ahhh
Okie I'm here and maybe
Skip until later?)
(That sounds good.
Do you want to start, or should I?)
(You can start
Sorry for the wait…)
(Np. I dunno how much longer I can be on. I forgot I had to work.)
Brooke texted Jake as soon as her shift was over.
BROOKE: Hey, my shift's over. Can you pick me up?
(Okie dokie)
His phone buzzed, and he grabbed it to see the message. Hurriedly slipping his shoes on, Jake texted her before walking out the door.
JAKE: On my way.
(Whelp, I'm back.)
Brooke smiled when she read Jake's text. He'd be there to pick her up soon.
She quickly changed back into her "street clothes" and grabbed a caramel mocha with extra whip and a scone for the wait.
