sorry i looked over and saw andy biersack texted me so?
make sure you look at my messages on the previous page!
My desperate frown transforms into a a grin. "Bold of you to assume I would've given you a choice. I'm kidding, I'm glad you're staying," I joke as we went on our way back to Yuki's cabin. what now aloe I i you need to help me
i'm crying
Yuki and Celia walk ahead of you while you follow Kaiholo closely. Something was clearly on Kaiholo's mind, and he was debating saying something to you until he finally broke.
"Jen, I have something to admit to you."
Concern flushed his face as he fidgeted, scratched the back of his neck, and did everything he could to stall the next few words.
"I know where you're from, and I can take you back."
i smack him
"Jen, I have something to admit to you."
My heart rate shoots up as a firework of anxiety explodes in my chest. He could literally say anything at this possible moment, but what he says next is not what I expected at all.
"I know where you're from, and I can take you back," he says cautiously, clearly just as scared as I.
"How do you know where I'm from? And how could you possibly take me back?" I question, blinking in surprise.
Kaiholo drops his hands as he sighs, a wave of anxiety shooting through his veins as well.
"The creature I am, or something, I don't know, but I can travel between two universes, and," He pauses, a drop of sweat dripping down his forehead.
"This is all my fault." He mutters, turning his head away from you. "I've been digging my grave since the very beginning and I shouldn't have gotten you involved, God, I'm so stupid."
"Are you going to tell me what you did exactly or are you still pitying yourself? I'm not mad or anything," I retort, stepping over a rock. I frown at his small pity party, but mostly because I am impatient and need him to be straightforward for once. I gaze ahead, wondering if Yuki and Celia can hear.
"Iā¦" Kaiholo starts, stuttering, "I can't, I can't tell you." He stops walking to turn to you and sighs heavily. "You deserve to go back, to have a few questions answered."
Before you can think of a response, Celia comes stumbling back towards you two.
"Guys, you need to get back, Yuki's drinking again!"
Again?
I feel a twinge of panic as I realize I didn't know how to deal with alcoholics. We rush to the cabin to spot Yuki sitting at dining table with a an empty bottle of beer next to him and a half drank one in his hand. He raises it to his lips and takes more gulps. From the looks of it, he may already be drunk. How the hell do I avoid angering him?
"Yuki?" I say, approaching him cautiously. I take a risk and sit down next to him, with Celia standing by me, defeated. "What's going on?" I utter. I didn't know what to say, but I didn't want to offend him.
Yuki takes another swig from the bottle as the bags under his eyes admit more than his words ever did.
"Just a few drinks, nothing wrong with that, right?"
Celia shakes her head and leans to you, whispering, "He's not supposed to even have alcohol here, he's supposed to stop drinking."
Kaiholo sighs heavily, muttering whatever to himself as Celia grabs the empty bottle and places it in her bag, a clank sound in her bag hinting that there's another empty bottle in there already.
"He's not supposed to even have alcohol here, he's supposed to stop drinking." I nod my head to Celia, showing her that I heard her.
"It happens," I quickly mouth to her before turning back to Yuki. His speech is already slightly slurred. "Would you wanna tell me why you're drinking?" I asked, trying hard to keep a gentle, reassuring tone.
Yuki slams the bottle onto the table, the loud noise causing Celia to jump and gasp, her voice was shaky, suggesting she had started tearing up by now.
"No, actually, I don't want to tell you. Do you," He points to Kaiholo. "want to tell me why you're always nervous whenever we discuss what happened to Jenny? And do you," He points back to you. "want to tell me why I would ever in my life allow a damn human into my house?"
"And do you want to tell me why I would ever in my life allow a damn human into my house?"
I take a deep breath before replying, trying to regain myself. I straighten my back and blink away the tears, realizing I didn't handle someone yelling at me very well. His slam still rings through my ears, and his eyes glare at me in such a hostile way, I'm not even sure if he's the same Yuki I talked to only a couple hours before. Maybe he's just hurt over his family? I tell myself that no matter what I say, he will only respond with anger at this point. He's drunk and clearly being irrational.
So what do I say?
"Can I tell you a story instead?" I blurt out, going off a limb that my idea will somehow work. Prepare for backlash.
"A story?" He repeats, disgust and hatred filling his tone. "What story could you tell me? You've got no fucking memory."
Celia flinches at his words, terribly wanting to say something to diffuse the situation, but unable to. She grew more and more small as she shrunk into the wall, eventually sitting with her knees propped up to hide her face.
I smirk and continue talking despite his clear disapproval to hear my story.
"Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a girl named Celia. She had this gorgeous red hair and sparkling green eyes, and her energy, don't even get me started on her energy, because she has more than you and I combined. But, that's what makes her so lovable." At first my voice is shaky and I stutter here and there, but the longer I talked, the more relaxed I became. "Alas! There's another boy named Yuki, and he has the bluest hair and brightest skin, and he has glasses right in front of his blue and green eyes. He's the sweetest person you'd ever met, but don't get me wrong, Celia and Yuki had their issues. But this story isn't about their problems.
"One day, Celia was being attacked by an dreadful orc. The orc was terrifying, and the poor girl nearly died! But, before you know it, someone came to the rescue. I bet you know who. That's right, Yuki himself, saved Celia. They became the closest of friends. But, that's not the only person Yuki saved. Despite his past with humans, he saved one named Jenny. He was a hero to even those he hated. And that's why Celia and Jenny stayed with him, and that's why they're here now. To help their friend, even when he was drunk."
I inhale deeply as I wait for a response from Yuki. If he didn't calm down from that, I hope my 'story' at least helped Celia.
Yuki stared at you, including Celia, and Kaiholo's silence indicated he was listening closely. When you finished, Celia stood up and hugged you, pushing you a few steps backward as she sobs into your shirt.
Yuki's eyes break away from you as he sits down.
"Doesn't change anything. They're still gone, and it's my fault."
He doesn't open another bottle, though. Instead, he crosses his arms and stares out the window, his puffy eyes hiding his tears. Kaiholo walks up to you and Celia and tries his best to comfort her, bending down to give her a gentle hug as well.
To my relief, he doesn't insult my story telling skills or something of the sort. "Doesn't change anything. They're still gone, and it's my fault," Yuki says, crossing his arms.
I rest my head on my hand and draw random circles on the table. "So what if it's your fault? You pitying yourself and putting yourself through misery won't bring them back either. Like you said, it doesn't change anything. But with the idea that nothing you do will bring them back, why not choose a happier path over a sad one?"
Yuki refuses to look at you, or anyone for that matter, as he shrugs. After a few moments of silence, he stands up, leaving the room.
"Whatever, I'm done for the day."
He slams the door, leaving Celia shaky and sighing heavily.
"He doesn't like to admit when he's wrong." She mutters, the tension in her muscles still high as she sludges over to the kitchen, preparing some more tea.
"It's best to let him cool off for now."
Kaiholo inhales and exhales deeply, knowing there's still an unanswered question that's been hanging in the air.
"He doesn't like to admit when he's wrong. It's best to let him cool off for now," Celia says in a small voice.
I sigh, turning my body towards her and Kai. "At least he knows he's wrong. And he stopped drinking. That's all that matters." I wish I had some magic word that could help Yuki, but sadly, I couldn't do anything. All that's left is a heavy depressing feeling that hung in the air.
I look to Kai, feeling a bit bitter. "If you can switch universes, than I can always come back here if I don't like what I see, right?"
Kaiholo turns to you, nodding reassuringly.
"Of course, I mean, you got here somehow. In fact, I travel back and forth often." He says, the tension slowly lowering.
"So, what do you say?"
He mutters, a tinge of hope filling his voice.
I whip my head to Celia. "Could you get me a pen and paper?" She eyes me, confused, as she gives me my supplies. I click the pen and proceed to write a heartfelt I'll-be-back thank-you letter to Yuki. After, I stand up and give Celia a tight hug.
"Thank you for taking care of me. But I have to see where I came from. And you gotta stay here and take care of Yuki for me. I'll see you soon, alright?" I inhale and step to Kai, who is waiting patiently. "I'm ready, Kai."
Celia says her goodbyes as she thanks you for talking to Yuki.
Kaiholo walks you through the forest in silence, causing you to wonder how far it is until you get to the other universe. In fact, the walk has been growing quite long. You blink your eyes.
Wait, when did the forest turn back to green?
You reassess your surroundings, immediately noticing the differences in the two worlds. You and Kaiholo follow a street until you reach a bunch of buildings. After walking down the trash-filled street, Kaiholo leads you into a sort of bar.
"Three Links" were the words that hung on the sign.
Kaiholo led you inside, bringing you to a man that sat on the bar. His hair was dark and his skin was a sickly pale color. He wore a white button-up and suspenders, along with black pants. Kaiholo tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around, giving the both of you a sly smirk.
"You hardly lasted two days!" He chimed, turning to Kaiholo, who's appearance had completely changed. When did that happen? How did you not notice? How much of a daze are you in?
Kaiholo's spider body was gone. Instead he stood on two human legs, now only about 6 feet. His blindfold was replaced by black sunglasses.
My mouth is wide open as I stare at human Kai in a gray button-up and black pants, complete with a stylish belt and black sunglasses. Believe it or not, I'm more used to the good ol' spider boy. At least he isn't a foot taller than me now.
Despite the familiar environment, I am shocked by how normal it feels. Everything is more modern and the grass was green. Ha! Take that, Yuki! I'm not completely insane!
I acknowledge the stranger in front of me. "Who are you?" I accidentally say aloud.
