“I literally got caught but okay, dawg.” I pull on my own gloves that I probably have, and follow closely behind Jean, scanning the building in front of me.

"Front door's free," Anubis utters into the bluetooth as Jean gestures for you to follow him. As you enter the building, the sounds of the outside world disappear, the doors closing as the ground changes to tile. Jean's already got his gun drawn, pointing it wherever he looks.
"Stairs are good to go, but the door looks heavy. Be careful it doesn't make too much noise." Anubis mutters again. Jean sneaks past the elevators to the stairway. The door handle was one of those heavy bars that click closed. Jean squints at it before gently placing a hand on the handle, pushing it open. The click resonates in the hallway as Jean holds the door open for you, then carries the door until his finger couldn't fit in the crack. The click closed echoed in the hall again, but not very loudly. Jean still squints at the door.

@icecubes

I follow Jean through the door, trying to walk in a way that my steps are soundless. He quietly tries to shut the door. The door clicks, and I wonder if there's better ways of closing it to reduce noise even more. I wait for Jean to continue leading.

The two of you climb up the stairs. As Jean turns the corner after 2 flights, he pauses, turning his head to look behind him. He looks confused, as if he's searching for something.
Anubis's voice plays in your ears. "What's the holdup?"
Jean stares into what seems to be thin air for a few more seconds before shaking his head.
"Nothing. Let's go."
He continues the next flight before finishing, approaching the entrance door.
"Wait-" Anubis's voice causes Jean to pause, fingertips just on the door handle.
He stands in silence for a few seconds, waiting for Anubis's confirmation.
"Okay, you're good."
Jean opens the door and enters, letting you follow behind. Anubis's voice shouts in your ear before you have any chance to react.
"Jenny, behind you!!"
Someone grabs you from behind, holding you against them as you feel the pressure of metal held on the side of your head. Jean turns around to see what was happening, pointing his gun at whoever grabbed you. The man holding you yells at Jean.
"Don't move, or I'll shoot! Drop your weapons."

@icecubes

I instinctively freeze and run through every possible solution. Everything I could do would run the risk of death, and the thought sent a chill down my spine. Somehow, though, I felt a sense of peace. Maybe it was the amnesia, since I only was truly alive for a short amount of time.
I stare into Jean in hopes he knew what to do. I still have my gun, but could I get to it fast enough?

"Paterson, she has nothing to do with this. Let her go."
Paterson chuckled, the tone obviously fake.
"Right, two strangers with weapons approaching my office, and one of them has nothing to do with this. You expect me to let her go? At least you can crack a joke."
His grip on you tightens as Jean refuses to put down his gun.
"Who are you?"
Jean stares at you for a moment before speaking.
"I'm here to bargain. Let her go and I'll spare you. I've already got backup on it's way, you won't stand a chance."
Paterson doesn't release you.
"Drop your gun and then we'll talk."
Jean hesitates, gazing back at you before disarming, holding his hands up, and then placing his gun on the ground.
"Alright, now we're getting somewh-"
Anubis bursts through the door, gun pointed. "Drop it, Paterson."
Paterson turns to the sound, giving Jean the opportunity to grab his gun again and point it.
It happened slowly. You could feel Paterson turn his head and notice Jean. You could feel Paterson's muscles tighten as he debates on his decision, but as Jean fires, so does Paterson.

The sound of typing resonates in your ears before you're fully conscious. Furrowing your brow, you inhale as your eyes gradually open, the blurry vision only enhancing your confusion. The computer light stings your eyes, but most of it remained covered thanks to his silhouette. The window suggested it was late at night, but something felt wrong. He sipped his drink- maybe coffee, maybe not- as he continued typing, seemingly unaware of you. But he had to at least know you were there, right? I mean, you woke up in his bed.
But…
What are you doing in his bed?
What was the last thing that happened before you fell asleep? What do you remember?
The lack of memory was becoming an annoying pattern, but you figured Anubis might be able to answer your questions.
"Why am I here?"
The typing stops dead in its tracks as he whips his head around at you.
"Oh, hey. How'd you, uh, sleep?"
His demeanor said more than he did.
"Answer the question."
He scratched his arm as he looked to the ground.
"Well, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you got yourself killed."
You scoff, not believing him. If you're dead, how are you talking to him?
"What? What do you mean?"
Anubis winced as he spoke.
"Well, uh…it was actually- Hmm."
He struggled to find the words as he inhaled deeply.
"You got yourself backed into a corner with Jean. He decided that in order to save himself and I, he needed to…sacrifice you."
"If I'm dead, how am I-"
"This is the final scene." He interrupted you.
"The last goodbye before it's all over. Well, I guess it's not exactly all over anymore, right? Think of it as a little transitional moment."
"Then what are you doing here?"
"Me? Well, I'm not who you might think I am. I just thought this environment and this face would be the most comforting for a goodbye. But I also got inspired from a song to write this scene. I don't even know if it'll make it to the final cut, but I thought it'd be neat, ya know?"
You blink your eyes, trying to comprehend everything at once. When you open your eyes, Anubis was no longer in the room. Instead, it was, a girl. She was familiar, but you don't think you've seen her ever since you woke up in Yuki's cabin. The surroundings change as well. We're both sitting on an elevated bed, but the time hasn't changed.
"I guess now it's not really a goodbye. More like a hello." She mutters. "Okay, just for added effect, I'd like to note that it was actually 12:26 AM on March 27 when I wrote this. I was listening to a song called "i shouldn't be awake by kevatta" and within minutes I wrote this whole scene. You already were making your way to Jean's bad ending by this time, so I figured I could write this whole thing out while its fresh in my head, and then have it for the end of BGM." The girl grins. "Kaiholo would be proud of you."
She drops her grin.
"That's a lie. He'd mostly be furious with Jean. Then he'd be sad for you. But if he knew you were here, he'd feel better."

@icecubes

I look at her, though she is a bit of a fuzzy blur, like I'm dreaming, and smirk. "He does know I'm here, silly. I'd make you make him know."
I adjust my position in the bed. "So, this is it, huh? Jean was a lost cause anyway."

@AloeVera groupMentallyImInACottage

I let out a grin. "Yeah, he knows. And Jean sucks. I'd kick his ass if he ever had the misfortune of meeting me."
I look down and scratch my neck nervously. "Even though that was my fault."

@icecubes

I put a hand on your shoulder. "I'd kill me if I ever dated Jean. Don't trip. Plus, maybe I'll take revenge on him one day."

@AloeVera groupMentallyImInACottage

I shrug, holding back a bit of laughter. "I mean, you'll get the chance, won't you?"
I smirk, looking at you.

@icecubes

Pulling out the gun that still happens to be on my body, I laugh, "I don't know, will I?" I place it gently on the bed, pointing at the wall.
I try to remember what the song you listened to was, but my memory is lagging. The world starts to dim out and the memories of the simulation fade.
Before I know it, I'm gone.
