Edward exhales, relieved, as he nods, but the worry didn't escape him.
"This is part of the process then, I presume?"
Anubis nodded, his eyes shifting behind Edward as he freezes.
"Uh…GG! Great to see you."
Edward turns around to see Jean leaning on the doorway to the hall, arms crossed, hair down, eyes puffy.
"Jean, who is this?"
Edward wonders aloud.
Jean chuckles.
"Jean?"
Anubis, still in the facade, responds.
"Yes?"
I cover my face with my hands. Laughing falsely, I slide and put an arm on Jean's shoulder because he is very tall actually no hes like joshs height anyway, "This is Anubis. He lives here too and he can help us!"
I smile at Eddie and Jean, realizing how weird this rp is gonna be.
Jean scoffs as he gives you the side eye.
"Oh, for fuck's sake-what's going on?"
Edward stiffens as he clears his throat.
"Hello, Anubis. Your friend Jean here is going to help Jen get me back to being human again."
There's a long moment of silence, as Edward awaits Jean's response. When Jean says nothing, Edward continues.
"So…Jen says you can help too?"
Anubis snickers to himself as he watches the strange exchange.
I cross my arms and face Jean once again. "I might be mistaken. He doesn't want anything to do with me or my business after all." His stone-cold expression irks me, the hidden feelings under his eyes so far in that you'd think there was no emotion in the first place.
Jean rolls his eyes at you as he scowls.
"That's for safety reasons. You're the one inviting complete strangers into someone else's house."
Jean waves a hand at Anubis as he starts to turn around back into the hall.
"But, please, Jean, take all the time you need. You know where everything is. This is your house after all."
Anubis held back snickering as Edward exchanged incredibly confused glances with you and Anubis.
I keep my glare on Jean because I'm feeling rather passive-aggressive. "That's for safety reasons," I mock under my breath.
"But, please, Jean, take all the time you need. You know where everything is. This is your house after all."
Anubis leaves the room to gather some equipment. He instructs Eddie to stand in the middle of the room and questions him on the whereabouts of his functions.
"Jean, you're sure you know what you're doing right?"
He looks at me with an irritated expression. "Duh."
Edward's eyes fall to the ground as he stations himself in the middle of the room.
"So, Jenny…" He began, eyes rolling back up to gaze at you. "How did you meet Roger?"
Strangely enough, he appeared to be scanning you. He blinks a few times, but a hint of a smile escapes his attempts at hiding his reaction. Though he still remains where he stood, he watched you closely i jsut finsihd reading fanfic i cantd o this
"Uhh," I laugh nervously, "Well, it's a pretty long story…" My hands find their way to my hair. I assume that Roger did not tell Eddie much. Will he hate me? Deem us untrustworthy? We already lied to him about our names… Suddenly I fear that Eddie may not take this prank so easily. I knew he could read me well, if he's constructed anything like Roger.
"It actually isn't," Edward begins, a certain solemnness in his voice that wasn't there before caused Anubis to freeze when he walks back in. In fact, his entire demeanor seemed to have shifted in the blink of an eye. He continues.
"That is, if you know how to tell a story the right way." He squints his eyes at you. "You know, by telling the truth?"
Edward's body language swayed with confidence as if he's comfortable in a tense situation.
"This whole situation is focused on the fact that I'm a machine and you still failed to recognize how much more capable I am than you."
He scoffs at you and Anubis.
"Of course I went through Roger's memories. Since he's got a harddrive for a brain, he won't forget any details."
Annoyance began to bubble up inside me, and I start to feel rather defensive. "You can be the most perfected, powerful machine in the world, Eddie, but none of that means anything if you can't even feel or love. You will never be better than us." I spit. "But, if you think that, go right ahead and fix yourself."
I step back, away from both of them. I don't know why, but I wanted to cry.
I don't think Roger sent him.
Edward grins, but his eyebrows tilted upward. He steps forward, lifting his arms up.
"Look at you. Emotions cloud your judgment. It's a surprise humans have lasted this long withou-"
Edward paused, eyes falling to the ground as he grips his stomach. You could almost hear things twisting and turning all throughout his body as he blinks slowly, his body starting to sway back and forth. He looks up at you, but there was a vacancy in his eyes. With everything he had, he opens his mouth, as the light starts to fade, and he mumbles out,
"I can't…control him."
Anubis finally took action as Edward started to lean a bit too far in one direction, completely losing his balance as consciousness escapes him.
I begin my retaliation in my head, but Eddie falters, causing my anger to reverse into concern. "Who the fuck is him?" I say as I rush forward to catch him. Wait isn't he like, made of metal?
Alarmed I quickly pull back and a loud bang rumbled through the room. I cringe at the sound, anticipating a very angry Jean.
Anubis recalls what Eddie told him and began unscrewing bolts and other technological stuff. He better wake up real fucking fast so I can fight him over emotions. Bitch.
"I got something," Anubis began, studying Edward closely as a bookworm enveloped in a book.
"His…well, his robot brain, I can force run diagnostics."
As Anubis continues, Jean stumbles in, obviously irritated, mumbling about how he "must be the only one who sleeps in this damn house".
"Diagnostics couldn't come up with anything, it said nothing's wrong. I think it's lying on purpose." Anubis utters, more thinking out loud than anything.
"If this is another robot boy about to die, can you at least take him outside?" Jean hisses.
jean you sleep the least out of everyone in this room
I glare up at Jean. "He's not dying."
Turning back to Anubis, I ramble off suggestions. "I know the smallest bit of coding? Can't we just, like find that and disable it or something?" I
Anubis blinks, nodding his head.
"Okay, uhm…"
Jean took a spot next to you, crossing his arms as he watched Anubis.
"Okay, this is weird…there's something foreign running his hard drive- like it's basically controlling his-"
Edward's eyes open quickly as he moves fast. First, he grabs Anubis's wrists. He then pulls Anubis to the floor and uses the momentum to stand up, twisting Anubis's arm on the way up. He holds Anubis down with his foot, only to come face to face with Jean holding a gun to Edward's head.
When Edward pauses, you realize what Anubis had done to his face in order to access the inner parts of Edward's mechanics. He looked just like Roger; half robot, half human.
Everything happens so fast, I'm not really sure how to react. I know Eddie is more of a robot slave than Roger is, but the appearance of Eddie's mechanical parts still struck me in an odd way. It was just more confirmation that he wasn't really us, no, not at all. I move slightly behind Jean in fear.
"Let him go," Jean states casually, not even any edge in his voice, as Edward squints his eyes at Jean.
When Edward speaks, the filter that cleared his voice must have been disabled, and he sounds completely technological.
"I know you don't want to risk footage of you with an unregistered weapon reaching any sort of authorities, so I suggest you dro-"
Edward freezes on his words again, his expression softening.
"I don't have much time. You're gonna have to shut me off manually until you can get the overriding program out of my system. The nape of my neck is where you ca-"
While Edward struggled to maintain control, Anubis scrambled to his feet, Jean holding Edward down while he looked at you expectantly.
I awkwardly reach behind his neck and blindly search for a button or switch of some sort. Eddie didn't make it easy either. His body struggles and he whips his head back and forth aggressively. "Oh my god, could you STOP jesus christ…." I mutter. My fingers discover a button hidden in the depths of his short hair and I press it down.
Almost immediately, Edward fell limp. His head leaned forward, falling against you as Jean and Anubis hold him halfway up.
"Okay, that should make it much easier on me." Anubis commented.
"I'm going back to sleep. If anymore loud noises wake me up again tonight, someone's losing an eye."
Anubis rolled his eyes silently at Jean as soon as Jean closed the door.
"Fuck that guy, amirite?"
Anubis snides as he continues to examine Edward's inner mechanical parts.
"No for real, he's tryna kick me the fuck out. Asshole. I literally don't know who I am."
I watch Anubis as he works the engineering part of his brain. He types codes and whatnot on his computer, turning Eddie around and searching for certain buttons or something.
After some time, a lot of petting Prince, and maybe a little bit of dozing off, Anubis finally chirped victoriously.
"Okay, I think he should be good." He eyed you suspiciously as he r̸̮̣̯̰̓͐̊̆̂e̸̹̭̮͉̿͂a̴͖̦͆̎̐͘c̶̡̧͖̮͎͓̅̈́̄͝h̴̺̖̘̪̔͌̅̅͠ę̸̝̥͍̩̎̌̅̄͝͠͠ gestured for you to come over, taking a step away from the unconscious boy. As you gazed at him, he looked so relaxed. In fact, the more you think about it, this is the most human he's ever looked. His eyebrows rest in a gentle upward tilt, his muscles somehow not tensed up; he looked comfortable.
I scoot over and lift his head into my lap gently. Reaching around his warm neck, I locate the same button once again and power him up. A faint whirring rang about the room and life slowly enters his body. He takes a sudden breath that slows down again to a steady rhythm. I brush a piece of curled hair out of his face. "gay," i whisper
