I smile to him and quickly come up with the dumbest answer.
"Well, I just had a lot of questions regarding ELife and I thought what better way to get answers than directly from an ELife executive?" A mumbled 'fuck' sounds from the earpiece.
"Well that's perfect." He chimes with a smile, turning his full attention to you. "I value my patient's experience over everything, so ask me any question you'd like, I'd love to answer."
Anubis was muttering in your ear as the distant sound of typing resonated through his breaths.
"What's going on?" Kaiholo uttered.
"Dr. Rose ignored the e-mail, something very out of character for him."
"What did you just say?" Kaiholo snapped.
"Don't worry about it, I'll call him from a burner phone. Turning off my earpiece for a second."
The 'patient' sends shivers through me, but I keep my smile. Anubis you better figure something out before I become like Roger.
"So, who founded the company? Was it you? Where did the inspiration come from to make androids?" I start to think of every possible question about an android company possible. Naturally, there are many, regarding the fact that humans have basically played God themselves. This should be easy. After all, I'm quite curious myself.
"Well," Dr. Rose starts, hoping he could remember every question you asked. "I co-founded the company, with my good friend Barry Stynes. He's a technical expert, personally I believe he's the best."
Dr. Rose's eyes trail upwards as he starts to think of his next question.
"Now, where did we get the inspiration? Well-"
His phone dinged. His eyes flicker to read the caller ID before he starts stuttering.
"We had…wh-" His neutral energy darkened as he huffed, grabbing his phone. "I deeply apologize, would you excuse me?"
He stands from his chair and rushes out of the room, assuring you that he'll only be a second.
"Dr. Rose, who is this?"
You hear his muffled voice from the other side of the door.
"He's what? Send someone over there to shut him up."
There's a bit of silence before he sighs heavily.
"Alright, you know what, fine. I'm on my way."
"Okay, okay, if I was a fucking key, where would I be?" I whisper to myself. I rush to the other side of the desk and start opening drawers, looking quickly but carefully in each one. I check in folders and boxes, but nothing. My eyes flicker over the trashcan, which gives me an idea. Thanks, Aloe.
I remove the trash bag and spot a glimmering gold key. This better be the only key in existence. I grab it and return everything to it's original place and head out the door.
My heart's beating loudly. I try to calm myself down and take deep breaths as I walk to where Kai's supposed to be.
Kai hears your pounding heartbeat, turning to face you and starts walking in your direction. As he passes you, you slip the key into his hands.
"Elevators." He utters to you, hoping to get the message across as he speed-walks down the hall. Anubis's voice returns.
"Okay, I'm back. Good job, Ms. GG."
"Hey," Kaiholo interrupts, "You saw how I helped you with Dr. Rose, didn't you?"
I snicker and mutter, "I am blind." I quickly head to the elevator before Kai can outright murder me, and press the button to head to the basement floor (is that wher ei mgoing i cant remember and im too lazy to look).
im still >:'( abt au so imma give u this notif only for u not to have anythign to rprely to
Roger raises an eyebrow at you as you join him on the elevator.
"You really held your composure up there." He utters, a hint of a smirk twitching the corners of his mouth as he turns his eyes back to the doors.
"Good job."
then anubis whispers "gay"
The elevator begins it's descent, the anticipation growing. You're not sure what brought you to this moment, but you know there's no backing out now. Does this count as a revolution? Are you the kind of person to help start one? What does Roger plan on doing after this? What do any of the guys plan on doing after this?
i am absoultey the kind of person ot help starta revolition you bitch
My hands could not get more sweaty, or at least I thought. I start to wonder if I have done anything even close to this in my old life. If I can help distract a murder, this should be totally easy, right? I turn towards Roger as the elevator descends. The curiosity overwhelms the shyness and I suddenly reach towards his metal neck. "Can you, like, feel that?"
roger fucking punches you into oblivion
Roger turns toward you, as if reacting to your touch.
"I feel the pressure in the area around my body, but I don't have nerves connected to that half of me. If I was fully robotic, I wouldn't be able to feel anything. It's a distraction, according to Dr. Rose."
Roger lifts his human hand towards your's that rested on his neck, as he holds it.
"They hate me because I'm closer to human than they are. Even Dr. Rose."
The doors open as he finishes his sentence, causing him to drop your hand and face forward.
"Are you ready?" He utters, stepping forward down the hall as he opens a door labeled "RESTRICTED AREA".
What seemed like thousands of cyborgs stood in a perfect line and rows in the large room, lit up by faint lights built into the ceiling that turned on as Roger opened the door.
"Ready? Bro, I don't even know what I'm do- woah," I start to say until the lines of all different cyborgs caught my eye. The ominous sight sent an overwhelming sense of anxiety in me - blank expressions on blank people staring straight ahead. It was unsettling. almost like mannequins but worse. Is this what sleep paralysis feels like?
I approach one cyborg, in fear that he would wake up at any moment. "Yo, I'm scared," I whisper out.
"Yo, I'm scared." You utter under your breath, but Roger still heard you. He smiled faintly to himself before turning to you. He approached a cyborg himself, grabbing her hand and reaching for a button under her chin.
"That's good, that means you're human."
He presses the button, quickening the cyborg as she almost falls from her stiff position. She seemed dizzy and confused, so Roger whispers reassuringly to her.
"You're okay, I'm here to save you. Activate as many people as you can and tell them the same."
Roger turns back to you and points to the cyborg you're standing in front of.
"Repeat that to everyone you come across to create a chain reaction. Don't worry, they still have their emotions, that's the last thing they take from you. They know that now."
I look at Roger, raising an eyebrow "Markus?" I mutter, then look up at the tall cyborg I originally walked to. I pressed the same button under his chin and he suddenly awakens. I quickly whisper. "You're okay, I'm here to save you. Activate as many people as you can and tell them the same, okay?"
He slowly nods at me and turns around to the cyborg behind him. Soon, the basement erupted with noise.
don't "markus" roger he is HIS OWN PERSON and he DESERVES RESPECT
"Shit, security's already spotted you."
Anubis's voice whispered in your ear, Roger looks at you from across the room, as if to confirm that you heard him too.
"Jean, can you get in there?"
Jean scoffs, a sense of urgency arising in the air.
"Cams on high alert, I'm not putting my face on record for this."
Roger, hearing the conversation, begins talking to one of the cyborgs, causing the cyborg to react with anger and determination, but quickly turning around to spread the message to the rest of the room.
Roger turns to you.
"There's weapons in the back. They're heavy but I'm sure you could work with them."
"There are weapons in the back. They're heavy but I'm sure you could work with them."
I stare at Roger in shock. I don't know how to work with weapons at all. Even if I did in the past, that's not helpful here. Nonetheless, I nod to him and head to the back. I walk through the door and all types of weapons greet my eyes, nowhere could I look without seeing something. A cyborg followed me and started to hand some of the others weapons. I picked up a dagger and threw its pouch around my waist and began to pass guns and other things I couldn't recognize. I nearly drowned out the sound of everybody yelling in anger at the company. Is this what war sounds like?
Though all of the cyborgs started to mix together, flooding the area with chatter, war cries, hype, and various excitable sounds, you find Roger standing in front of you, a strange look on his face. Though he wasn't capable of expressing his emotions as well, he tried his best. For a moment he just gazed at you, what seemed like a million thoughts running through his head that he, whether or not he wanted to try, couldn't control. After a few seconds, he embraces you in a hug-albeit a tight one, but it was a hug.
"I'd be dead today if it weren't for you. Thank you."
Roger throws his arms around me, nearly choking me out. I return the hug gently. "I'd be dead today if it weren't for you. Thank you," he mutters, causing me to hug tighter.
"I figured a couple of memories weren't worth someone's death anyways. Don't even trip, man."
me, looking @ the document:
