“Thank you for driving us, Harper,” Kasey said with a smile at her brother.
The older man just nodded, giving his sister a quick smile back. “Be careful, you two. Try not to get in any more dangerous situations, yeah?” he chuckled, though his eyes flashed worriedly.
“Yeah. We’ll try not to. Right, love?” Kasey asked Liam.
Liam gave Harper a two fingered salute, "Will do Boss, will do."
Kasey chuckled softly and started walking away after bidding her brother goodbye. Once they were in the apartment, the sound of skittering kitten paws made its way to her ears. A heartbeat later, Quake appeared and began rubbing herself against their legs.
“Hey, baby,” Kasey murmured with a smile. “Did you miss us? Are you hungry?”
Liam beamed at the kitten and soon enough, the older cat arrived, clearly unimpressed at his dads state and lack of absence. Slowly, Liam peeled away from Kasey and sat on the ground next to the couch, his cat climbing into his lap, "I told you we were bad parents Kasey," He said, pouting a little, "Mortem is unhappy with me."
Kasey laughed softly as Quake began mewing for food and attention. She leaned down and pet the kitten a little bit before starting for the kitchen.
“I’m going to feed them. Can you grab me their bowls, love? Or are you still too unsteady?” she asked, glancing over at Liam.
"I'd get them but I can't move…" Liam replied, gesturing to the cat that was curled up in his lap, "And I don't want to make him even more mad."
Kasey grinned, laughing softly. “Okay. I’ll grab them, then,” she said, already making her way over. She almost tripped on Quake when the kitten rubbed against her legs again, so she picked her up and started petting her as she walked.
As soon as Mortem head Kasey pick up the food bowls, he was up and out of Liam's lap and walking towards Kasey. Liam huffed, "Traitor."
Kasey chuckled and set Quake down, then licked il the bowls. She was careful not to step on either of the cats as she made her way back to the kitchen, which slowed her progress some. After filling the bowls, she just set then on the floor and let the cats eat.
“So that’s done… We should probably get you into bed,” she mused, looking over at Liam. “Can you walk if I help you again?”
Liam nodded, though he did stand from where he was sitting by himself, even if he wobbled slightly when he was up right, "Yeah, that would be for the best… thanks sunshine…"
Kasey made her way over and wrapped her arm around his waist, setting his arm over her shoulders. “Do you need to use the bathroom or anything first?” she asked softly as they started down the hall.
Liam shook his head, blinking his eyes open that had drooped slightly, "No, I'm fine. Thanks though…" He mumbled.
“All right,” Kasey hummed.
They reached the bedroom, and she opened the door to lead him inside. Once they were at the bed, she let him lay down on it.
“I’ll be in the living room if you need me, okay?”
Liam nodded, slowly getting under the covers, "C-Can you wait me my meds? P-Please?" He asked, remembering he needed to take them as he hadn't in a while.
Kasey pauses in the doorway and glanced over at Liam. She nodded, giving him a small smile.
“Yeah, love. I’ll grab your meds,” she said softly before disappearing into the bathroom. A moment later, she walked back into the room and dumped out a pill onto her hand, handing it to Liam.
Liam dry swallowed the pill, clearly having done it a hundred times already, “Thanks…” He mumbled, offering a small, tight lipped smile.
Kasey gave him a soft smile and leaned down to kiss his forehead. “Do you want me to join you? Or is it all right if I go read on the couch?”
"I-It's okay, you can go read if you want." Liam replied, settling back into the bed and making himself comfortable.
“You sure?” Kasey asked softly, lips tilting downward in a concerned frown. “I can stay here if you want…”
“No, no it’s fine. I-I’ll be fine.” He seemed to be saying the last part more to himself then anyone else but he offered Kasey a small smile.
Kasey looked at him a moment longer, her eyes soft as she did, before leaning down to kiss his cheek gently. “Okay. I’ll just be in the living room with a book, the cats, and some ice cream, then,” she chuckled. “Call me if you need me.”
Liam nodded, "Okay, I will." He sighed softly, pulling the covers further up his body.
Kasey brushed her hand over his cheek gently before leaving the room. She made her way over to the kitchen, grabbing a book on the way, and made herself a bowl of popcorn. With her book under her arm and the bowl of popcorn in her hands, she sat down in the living room and opened the book.
Liam nestled back into the bed, making himself as comfortable as he could. He closed his eyes, not fighting off sleep anymore as he slipped into unconsciousness.
After about half an hour of reading, Kasey finished her popcorn. She set her book down, gently pushed her kitten off her lap, then brought the bowl out to the sink. After washing it, she laid down on the couch and started her book up again.
