Aron nodded a little. He frowned. "Wait…how so?" He asked slowly. "What happens if we don't find them?" He raised his eyebrows a little.
Aron nodded a little. He frowned. "Wait…how so?" He asked slowly. "What happens if we don't find them?" He raised his eyebrows a little.
Cicada had her head hung her mind swirling with thoughts. She took a deep breath, "If we meet our Authors, do you think we could go back to our worlds?"
"Your be surprised how many have tried anyway." Soldier S shrugged, having dealt with those kinds of situations before. K could be heard talking nearby, around the next corner.
"Still." Soldier K went quiet for a moment.
"It's kind of like a parrot. Sure, if you hear it talking from another room you might mistake it for a person, but when you are face to face with it, it's still just a parrot. While you were in your world, you could have easily have been taken for a human. But here? You're just a character." He turned the corner with Noel, raising an eyebrow when he saw S and Syzen.
"Thought you were supposed to be in Agent U's room."
"You were taking too long."
”Oh, Noel” Syzen said plainly, not really surprised to see the young man.
”Why is it that every time someone from our world gets into trouble it’s always us two?!” Noel complained, clearly annoyed by situation.
Syzen laughed a bit before answering: ”Don’t ask me, ask the dude who always throws us in these situation, especially whenever he feels like we’ve been quiet for too long”
(Merry Christmas everyone!)
"Well… You know those doors you passed on the way here? You'll probably end up behind one of them." They shook their head. "It drives most insane." Then, Akira turned to Cicada.
"Yeah, if they decided to. It's their call, in the end." They shrugged. At this time, a girl appeared in the doorway.
"Akira," she said, clearly annoyed, "Is this what you're going to do every time I leave you alone?" Akira shrugged.
"Maaaybe?" They have a nervous smile. The girl sighed, stepping in and making herself quite vulnerable.
Soldier K rolled his eyes, a bit peeved for some reason. S chuckled.
"Com'on, we should get back to the processing room before we get in trouble…" He sighed. K, if he had been gentle before, didn't bother now as he forced Noel forward.
Cicada looked to the door and the girl. Her hand held her staff close to her as she studied this new face.
Aron's hands twitched, desperate to grab at his sword and hold it. Not necessarily even use it, just hold it.
"Let's go, Akira," the girl said, holding out her hand. Akira sighed, standing up. They hesitated a moment, then put their hand in the girl's. In a flash, Akira was gone, and the girl was putting her hands in her pockets.
"You're both going to see your agent's soon," she said simply. "If suggest coming up with an excuse." She walked to the door and paused.
"Like Akira said, I hope you find your Authors."
"What do you mean excuse?" Cicada asked standing up. She still had her hands on the staff and stepped towards the door towards the door.
"A way to explain why your here other than your Author bringing you here. Anything. If they think you came here because of your Author, you'll never be able to leave." The girl paused again, lips pursed. She obviously wasn't saying everything she knew.
"Is that everything?" Cicada probed her staying where she was, "And what might your name be before you leave."
Aron narrowed his eyes a little bit. "Why are you even saying this?" He demanded. "This doesn't make sense. Any of it. How do we know you aren't lying?"
The girl was silent a moment.
"Just because I work here doesn't mean I agree with how they treat characters." She looked directly at Aron.
"And you don't. And I can't change whether you believe me or not- I'm not your Authors, and I wouldn't ask them to." She sighed, turning around and stepping out of the room.
"You can call me Coral."
"Thank you Coral for the advice," Cicada told her. She became much less defensive though still had her guard up.
Aron shook his head, muscles in his arms clenching tight. He wanted to hit something. Wanted to hit someone. I've done this before. Lies and words and I don't know who to trust and I'm trapped and oh god it hurts– stop it. Snap out of it. You aren't there anymore. He told himself. But his mind was already starting to spiral out of his control, and he hated it.
Cicada turned and saw Aron freaking out a little. She took a step towards him, "Are you doing okay?"
Aron nodded. His breathing was too fast, his eyes too wide. He pressed the heels of his hands together, eyes flashing around the cell. –walls are closing in– he took a deep breath.
Cicada took a slight step towards him and spoke in a soft calming manner, "You're fine okay? Nothing is going to hurt you in here. I'm not going to hurt you. I don't think the people here are going to hurt you either."
Coral had already disappeared down the hall when Cicada spoke, leaving the two alone. Of course, it wasn't long before two soldiers appeared. They stepped into the room, heading towards Aron. These one on the right was Soldier E, the crueler one from the transport. The one on the left was different, but seemed to have the same mindset as E by the way he smirked at Aron.
Aron shook his head at Cicada a little bit, sucking in a breath –can't breathe can't breathe can't breathe oh god it hurts i can't breathe somebody please I can't breathe– he shook his head again, focusing on the soldier as best he could.
The two soldiers stepped forward, each taking one of Aron's arms.
"Let's go," E said, seeing how distressed Aron was. The other soldier turned to Cicada.
"You'll get called soon enough," he said with a smirk. Wherever Aron was being taken, it didn't sound good.
Cicada kept her calm despite the feeling of terror that washed over her, "First to come last to leave I suppose."
Aron took a deep breath, shoving his thoughts away and struggling against the soldiers grips. "Saefortha kalíen!" He snapped, not seeming to notice that he had reverted to his native tongue. "Kaz nie'ka!"
Soldier E cursed, and they dragged him out of the room, the bonds from before reappearing and keeping Aron from doing much.
"Count yourself lucky," the other soldier said, looking at Cicada one last time. With that, they started pulling Aron away.
Sometime after, a female soldier appeared, carrying a notebook and a pencil. She seemed to be writing something.
Aron growled at them, still struggling and trying to get their hands off of him. "Let go!" He snarled.
Cicada looked up to see the female with a notebook. Cada had gone back to sitting down and glanced up at her. She said nothing.
