"What are you gonna do?"
"What are you gonna do?"
"Just this and that. Don't worry about it."
"You should get some sleep too…"
"I will, don't worry…"
Ferran didn't have the energy to argue with her anymore. He sighed and drifted off, wondering what tomorrow would bring.
She left, closing the door behind her. After cleaning up behind them, eating something, and wedging a chair under the back door handle, she crawled into the bed of the bedroom next door, drifting off to sleep almost immediately.
Ferran jerked awake. Where was he? Sunlight streamed in through a window. Where was Alice? He tried to call her name, nothing came out.
"Relax," Alice soothed, walking into his room. "I'm right here."
Ferran took deep breathes and nodded. His chest wheezed, Not good.
"You feeling a little better?"
Ferran shook his head. "Everything hurts…"
Alice sighed. That wasn't good. "Anyway, you should eat something."
"I don't know if I can…"
"Look, if you can't eat anything, and can barely move, then you probably need to see a doctor."
"But then we get caught for breaking into a house."
"Going to jail is better than you getting permanently injured or something!"
"Fine! I'll try and eat something…"
"There isn't a whole lot of fresh food and stuff, but there's a box of Eggo waffles in the freezer. Will you eat that?"
"Sure…"
She nodded at him and rushed downstairs, stuffing a couple frozen waffles in the toaster. When they popped out, she grabbed one and took a bite, then piled the rest on a plate and carried it upstairs.
Ferran grimaced at the smells coming from the kitchen. Nausea hit him. Oh boy.
Alice walked into the room. "They don't smell that bad," she said.
"Yeah….they do…..are you sure that the people who live here are coming back?"
"Obviously I can't be 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure. Don't worry about it, okay?"
"Okay…" Ferran did not want to eat those waffles.
