"I'm not sure…what do you think would be safer?" She asked, realizing being safe was probably more important than comfort at this point. Though if she could get both it would be even better, "Just not many stairs if we go to a town."

"It would be safer to stay in the woods for a few days, and not head into any towns." Jay replied after a moment.
Delia nodded, trusting Jay's decision, "Alright, what are we going to do for food though? I can't hunt in this condition." Leo seemed to agree as well, his tail wagging slightly as he trotted with them.
"I can hunt." Jay replied slowly. "So don't worry about that."
"Then we're all set," She said, rolling her neck and pressing on, "Let's get as far away from there as we can then, shall we?"
Jay nodded a little bit. "Yeah. Let's go." he replied, and kept walking.
Walking with crutches wasn't the easiest and it hurt Delia's arms, but she still kept up, just reminding herself she could get back to walking on her two legs within a few weeks.
Jay was quiet as they walked, frowning a little bit.
She soon found herself back in her thoughts as they walked, now her thoughts slipping back to her past before everything happened, along with how she had been getting along before she had met Jay.
Jay kept walking quietly. Leo was bounding along by their feet, sniffing at everything and wagging his tail a little bit.
"When should we cut over to the road?" She asked, nearly tripping on a fallen log before righting herself and catching up to Jay and Leo.
Jay shrugged a little bit. "In about half an hour we will. Unless you need to cut there sooner?" he looked at her.
Delia shook her head, "Just wondering how long, I don't have to cut over early." As easy as it would be for her to finally get to the road, she just continued on, slipping behind Jay and following his path so she didn't have to look as hard for obstacles.
Jay kept moving, keeping careful track of where they were in relation to the road. Leo trotted along at their feet happily, wagging his tail.
Being back in the open without people around her was actually really nice, the explosions no longer going or able to be heard. She did wonder what happened to everyone though, and even though she didn't like him, she wondered if Caspian had made it out or survived at least.
Jay kept an eye out for anyone or anything nearby. He ran a hand through his hair. He didn't know what had happened to everyone at the camp, and…he didn't really care, either, he realized.
(oo kinda want Caspian to survive now lol)
Delia kept her eyes on the ground in front of herself, watching each step and especially where her crutches were landing each step. "Could we stop for a short break when we get to the road?" She was getting quite tired, but she knew she could continue for a little longer.
(lmao alright)
Jay nodded. "Yeah. We can." He replied, glancing over at her for a moment.
She nodded, not looking up when he glanced at her. Leo trotting beside them made her smile a little though, he was a distraction from the dirt and rocky ground they were walking on.
Jay sighed softly, still walking with her.
"This is a really weird question, but I'm really curious," She admitted, breaking the silence of their walking, "What…what did they do to your mind when you were up in the ship? Do you know everything they changed or added?"
Jay's shoulders stiffened, and he clenched his jaw, not looking at her. "I…would rather not talk about that."
She let out a little bit of a sigh but nodded, "That's ok, I get that." It was probably a painful memory if he remembered it and she knew he probably didn't want to talk, and so she just went back to focusing on moving a little faster through the woods.
Jay nodded a little bit. "Alright." he thought of the book in his backpack, the bloodstained one that his mother had given him.
Delia went silent again and didn't look over at him, still pushing to walk a little faster to avoid the conversation they had dropped.
