She could see military members helping direct people outside, and both her's and Caspian's eyes widened as they made eye contact. Delia didn't stop though and quickly broke eye contact, hurrying through the open doors and scanning the sky for any drones. There were tons, all swarming over the base, dropping their bombs one at a time and flying away once they were empty.
Jay waited silently, crouched in a shadow. "Leo, hush." he said gruffly. Leo whined again, squirming unhappily.
Her eyes scanned the sky once again before she hurried across the yard of vehicles and people, dodging people who were trying to shoot down the drones. She did glance back at the base though and found Caspian in the crowd, watching him hurry people to safety. Soon her eyes were back on the gate though and she was looking around for Jay.
Jay spotted her, and got up. Leo was still whining and crying, not happy with this turn of events.
Delia was clearly relieved when she saw him and rushed to where he was, trying and failing to say anything about what was going on, her mouth did open like she was going to say something though, but no noise came out. Now it was a question of staying to see what would happen or bolting and abandoning the base.
Jay looked over at her, and gave her a tight smile, eyes flashing around the base. "Where to?" he asked softly.
"Away from here," She replied, glancing at the base again and trying to forget how much it reminded her of when they had taken her brother. Delia finally started moving though, leading the way away from the base to the sound of the explosions hitting over and over.
Jay nodded, and followed Delia. Leo let out a howling whine, crying and whining inside Jay's backpack.
Leo's whines made Delia slow down so she was walking behind Jay, "Leo, I'm here buddy, we're safe, shhh."
Leo barked unhappily, not stopping his whining. Jay sighed softly, rubbing his face with a hand.
"Hey, shhh, what's wrong?" She asked, still walking away from the base and hopefully away from the drones.
Leo kept whining unhappily, squirming and barking. "I don't think he likes the noise." Jay said softly.
Delia nodded, petting the top of Leo's head before leaving the puppy to start looking for the road once again. Once they got there maybe it would be easier to ignore the destruction behind them.
Jay kept walking, eyes flashing around. "We shouldn't head for the road just yet. It'll be a madhouse."
"Where should we go then?" She asked, sure she didn't want to go anywhere near the base and now the road was basically off limits for the moment.
(gtg to bed now. Good night!)
Jay shrugged. "I don't know." he replied softly.
(night!)
Delia nodded, feeling the same way but wanting to get away from here, "We really just need to get to another town, but that means following the road."
Jay nodded. "Yeah. I know." He agreed. "We can cut to the road later."
"For now where should we go then?" She asked, looking around before motioning in a random direction and a forest, "Maybe into woods again is a good idea, then we're semi hidden."
Jay nodded, heading into the woods. "Yeah. It'll provide cover, too." He replied. Leo whined plaintively.
She nodded and walked beside him, already adjusted back to surviving in the wild. A much bigger explosion sounded and Delia almost turned around, forcing her feet to move away from the scene. There was nothing she could to anyway besides survive and get back at the aliens by destroying that ship.
Jay kept walking. "Was it the aliens?" he asked, pressing his lips into a thin line as he asked. He almost didn't want to hear the answer, knowing it would be a yes.
"Well I doubt humans would bomb a base full of humans when the world is in this state of disaster," She replied, sadness clear in her voice. All the lives lost was what bothered her the most. She could care less about the damage they did, but so many good people were probably killed it pained her and she knew the event would be on her mind for at least a few days.
"Yeah." He agreed softly. Did I lead them hear? Is this my fault? He wondered.
Delia continued on though, listening to leo's whines instead of the destruction and mentally cursing the aliens. She wished she could just snap her fingers and make everything better or even just do something simple like send a rocket into the sky at the ship.
