"Um, yeah. If we're aiming for a healthy diet then we need more fresh fruits and vegetables, and if we happen to find any then I wouldn't mind adding more coffee and chocolate to our suppliesβ¦" Alastor replied, trailing off when he saw Ariella run out. "Should you go after her, or does she want to be left alone?"
Lucky noticed her go, but shook his head at Alastor's question. "As far as I can tell, she wants left alone." He was thinking about the question of fresh fruits and veggies.
"Unfortunately a lot of places will be out of those kids of foods, but β¦ Maybe we can find soup with at least some veggies in it? Or the canned fruit? It's not ideal, but it'll keep us from getting totally sickβ¦"
"That'll work," Alastor agreed. "And trail mix or other food items that are filling and long-lasting would be good to have if for some reason we can't find a place with food for a while."
Lucky nodded slowly. "If we had just this food, how long do you think we'd make it?" If everyone was careful about how much they ate, he was thinking about 4 days, but he wasn't sure if that.
Devon slowly ran his hand over Zeus' back, thinking it would help the dog sleep.
June busted out laughing as soon as Liam did. She was having fun, end.of the world.aside.
Ronni shook her head at Lucas. "Were you not listening? The boys did nothing all day but kick in the doors of other apartments in this building. There's plenty of space for everyone, and no one has to scout." She stepped back from him, noting that he looked pale.
"Lucas, I need you to tell me your symptoms. Right. Now."
There was no way she was just going to gloss over that. Not in a world where a disease had killed everyone.
If he was sick, he could forget about sleeping in the same room as anyone else. Heck, he could forget about sleeping in the same building as the rest of them.
Lucas shook his head and dug in his bag for a bottle of water, unscrewing the cap with shaking hands. He drank half the bottle, lowering the bottle slowly.
"I'm not sick." He said defensively. "I can't be, or I would've died sooner than this."
He took a shaky breath. "But i'm a little dizzy is all."
Ronni watched him warily. She wasn't convinced. Everyone who got sick and died started somewhere, they had symptoms and then they died.
If the people around them were lucky, they didn't spread the disease as they died.
"Come out in the hall with me." She stepped past him into the hall outside the apartment. She wasn't going to risk the group.
Alastor looked at the food thoughtfully. Perks of growing up in a military family meant he was taught about how to ration food in worse case scenarios. At the time, he complained that this information was useless since the chances of a huge disaster like a mass disease were slim. Now he was more grateful than ever before for being taught survival skills like this.
"Honesty, I'd say five at the most," he replied, taking into account how little he ate anyways. "Although I recommend we get more food before those 5 days are up just in case."
Zeus let out another contented sigh before his breathing slowed down a bit and he quickly fell asleep, his body relaxing as he did so.
Devon laid back, carefully so as to not wake up Zeus, he put his arms under his head and closed his eyes, intending to fall asleep.
Lucky nodded quickly. "I was thinking the same thing." He lowered his voice a bit.
"You were a police officer, right?" He was thinking Alastor probably had more training about certain things. Between his knowledge, and Lucky's years of being a Scout and living off the grid, they should be ok.
And apparently Ronni being able to just⦠shoot a man and be fine. He wouldn't have expected that from her, but somehow, he wasnt suprised.
Ronni watched him warily. She wasn't convinced. Everyone who got sick and died started somewhere, they had symptoms and then they died.

"Come out in the hall with me." She stepped past him into the hall outside the apartment. She wasn't going to risk the group.
Lucas walked after her slowly.
He shut the door to the apartment and smiled warily at her, bracing himself against the wall for a second before leaning his back against it and tilting his head upwards.
"I think I might be sick." He said in a slow voice, unlike his own. "Not with the flu but just sick."
"Yeah," Alastor replied, his voice lowering a bit as well, wondering why Lucky did the same. "I mean, my main training was in finding murderers and serial killers, but I did spend around a year and a half being a regular officer first."
Lucky noted the look on his face. "I was just wondering how much training you've had, since I'm not really sure the rest of these know much about either survival or combat. And I've lowered my voice because Americans are funny about police."
Ronni stepped back from him a bit. "I need your symptoms, Lucas. And how would you know it's not the flu? You've never had it or you'd be dead."
Ariella had been outside, head between her knees, working on her breathing when she heard others come outside. Ronni and Lucas. She didn't pay much attention and until she heard hik say he was feeling sick.
That did it. Something in her switched. Like it was the nurse in her. She walked over, put her hand on his shoulder, and pushed him down until he was sitting. She crouched in front of him. "Ronni, can you get my bag from my room please. I've got this." She kept looking at Lucas. "Can you tell me what your symptoms are? What hurts?"
She needed her medical bag before she could do much else.
Ronni hadn't realized the girl had a med bag, but she wordlessly moved to go get it. She'd wanted to keep it quiet, not wanting to alarm the others, but if he was sickβ¦
She grabbed the bag and headed back outside, handing it to Ariella.
Alastor smirked a bit at that, even though it didn't reach his eyes. "There are a few bad cops out there, and unfortunately they're the ones who get the most publicity so everyone who watches the news views every police officer here as evil. But I did have extensive combat training and my family taught me some basic survival skills."
(Me frantically looking up medical terms cause I actually know nothing about nursing.)
Ariella grabbed her otoscope and turned the light part on. She grabbed a mask to be careful and slipped it over her own mouth and nose. She pulled up his eyelids gently, shining the dull like in each of his eyes, checking his pupils.
Lucky nodded quickly, trying to reassure Alastor. "Oh, I get it. My uncle explained the whole mess to me a while back. I just didn't know if you'd want that noised around much."
Survival training was good, though. "What kind of survival training?"
June busted out laughing as soon as Liam did. She was having fun, end.of the world.aside.
"That poor cow." Liam said between laughs. "What have we done to it?"
Alastor shrugged. "I'm used to being hated for what I do, so it wouldn't be a big deal. And as for trainingβ¦" he had to think for a moment. "I guess it was intended for natural disasters like floods or earthquakes, or in cases where I'm stranded in the wild with no contact to any other people. It's been working fine for this pandemic, though. It's kept me alive for this long."
"That poor cow." Liam said between laughs. "What have we done to it?"
"we have murdered a fictional cow" she snorted.
Devon was asleep on the floor with Zeus.
"we have murdered a fictional cow" she snorted.
Liam nodded, slowly regaining his breath. "Now what do we do?" He asked sitting down on the floor in front of June and looking up at her. "I have some frozen raspberries, would you like some?"
Liam nodded, slowly regaining his breath. "Now what do we do?" He asked sitting down on the floor in front of June and looking up at her. "I have some frozen raspberries, would you like some?"
She slams her hand down. "we need a blenderβ¦we can make an alcoholic smoothie"
Liam smiled. "Ok, now you're speaking my language." He said standing up. "Was there one in the kitchen?"
