how about a starter for what kinds of things you put in what character fields. I mean there is a ton of helpful variety that gets you thinking but for a newbie writer it can be pretty vague. (I'm talking about fields like mannerisms, or conditions.) It doesn't have to be just character fields it would be helpful for a lot of other things too.

Okay, so you can put asterisks on both sides of a sentence to make it in italics, like this, right? Well, what are all the other little things you can do to mess with font? I'd like a tutorial for that, please?

<> these things with the word "sub"inside makes everything after like this

@"Red_Cactus_Writes_Fantasy (Formerly known as Impossible_Girl)" If you have a look at the first post in this thread, you can find links to all the tutorials that have been made already. I’ve done some on formatting too. :)

@hiimdex

In my documents whenever I press enter it automatically skips one row, is there a way of disabling this or fixing this?

@Dex Pressing enter starts a new paragraph, but you can hold shift when you press enter to just go down one line. Is that what you were looking for?

THANK

frum ember-chan
also, you may have posted this but how to make text smol?

Put this : < sub >
in front of whatever you want small, Just do it without the spaces…

@halfging3r Chihuahua Mom

HEY GUYS, I DISCOVERED A THING!!!!!!

Okay, so you know how, sometimes, if you make a bulleted list, and then make the first word(s) in that list bold, it will offset it to the next line? So, I just figured out that if you put an extra space between your "bullet" character and the first asterisk *, it won't offset it!

I have no idea why this works, but it does, so if anyone needed help with that, there's your fix!

Anyway, have a nice day :)

Hello. I'm new. I don't really understand how to use this..can someone tell me the basics? Like where should I put my drafts..what should be in universe or documents? Are things being saved in documents public for all users? I'm just confused.

Hi Nanala! Welcome to Notebook.ai. If you go to the first post in this thread you’ll find a lot of handy tutorials for the website, both for the forums half and the worldbuilding half.

By default, everything you add to your documents or your universes is private. Only you can see it, unless you change the privacy settings. You can make pages public if you like, but there’s no way to make documents public yet. (Here’s how to make your pages private if you’re not sure.)

Any pages under the Worldbuilding tab are for you to use developing your world! You can add as many characters, locations and items as you want, and connect them all to a universe. These page templates have categories and fields to help you flesh out aspects of your world. For example, the Character page has fields for name, job, looks, family, hobbies, etc. You don’t have to fill in all the options, though, and you can add your own fields if you want extra information.

Documents don’t have fields - they’re like blank pages. Lots of people use them to write parts of their stories. I have one that’s a dumping ground for a bunch of ideas that I haven’t fleshed out yet. It’s up to you!

I hope you enjoy the worldbuilding experience. Feel free to ask me any other questions you have! :)

Hi
i recently started using notebook ai and im still trying to know the functions, have a question, can i refer a character/location/group… during the writing in the documents section? like i start writing the begining and let it find what im looking and if i click later i can see their pages?
Thanks

That's an interesting concept! But I don't think it exists. You can always try suggesting it though!

im going to do it then :) for now using the scenes from worldbuilding to do the history (here i can do something like that and so far is doing the trick) and keeping a backup in the documents just to have it more organized

Already submited the sugestion by mail, in the meaning time discovered something thats quite handy if anyone wants,its not the most pratical way to do the refs but do the trick for now, you can write in any page char, scene… the text you want and do all the refs. Save and just copy the text to the documents page, it will keep all the formating including the refs and you can open the links later directly from the documents

How do i find my inbox

Top right corner. On mobile it looks like an envelope, otherwise it says "inbox". (If you look at the "Starting a private discussion via your inbox" post at the beginning of this thread, there's a version with screenshots that might be helpful.)
