Ember was the only one that wasn't relived to be free, once she was outside she was hit with so many new smells and sounds she felt woozy. She looked at kin with slightly opened eyes, the sun was blinding her it was too bright, she brought her hand up to her face to block out the light as they made their way too the forests edge, she was becoming uneasy. She'd never been outside before she had no idea what to expect an she didn't want to be caught off guard.
(Sorry this is short I just woke up from a nap with a kitten so I'm also a little woozy 🤣😭)
(Wish i had that heaven-)
(Psst you totally could there are like 5 kittens here lol)
(You have to talk to their moma 🤣)
(I'm about to call up liv and smak her 🤣)
Bane scouted the area out, taking the group deeper into the forest. The sunlight weakened him, for he was stronger in shadow. However, the hound didn’t mind as long the others were happy. His footing was heavy, twigs and leaves crunching under his weight. Finally, he had peace. Bane stepped into a grassy clearing, looking out towards the hill in the distance. A little stream ran through the clearing, trees concealing the location. This would work. “We can settle here.” He decreed, sitting on the soft grass. What about warmth, food, and shelter? What were they going to do? He didn’t know, but Obelisk’s men would be on their tails. “Cat boy.” He addressed Kin. “Can you release the wolf of her chip? It would help us in the long run.” Freedom suddenly turned into survival. What Bane thought would be glorious shifted into concern and anxiety. However, the hound pledged to himself he’d watch over the others with him.
Bane stood, an idea coming to mind. Wondering near the forest edge, he collected some sticks. Returning to the clearing, he placed them in a neat pile. With a swift movement, blue flames appeared in his hand. He set the sticks on fire, shaking his hand so the flames diminished. “Warmth is taken care of.” Bane smiled warmly.
Kin smiles, his footsteps silent. He looks at Bane as he was addressed and he nods, looking to the girl. “This may be slightly uncomfortable. But it will not hurt at all.” He smiles warmly, moving so that he was out of her sight. He began quickly working, easily cutting the chip out and crushing it. “There. They have no idea where we are.” He looks at Bane, smiling brightly. Instinctively, he was seeking approval. Why? He had no idea.
Ember only had socks on so she stepped carefully so she didn't get hurt. Once they made it to the clearing she nearly lost her footing, the view was gorgeous, she'd never seen anything like it before. She didn't like that the as band put it 'cat man' was now out of her sight she turned out of her sight she felt a pinch and she turned around sharply barring her teeth at him but he had already gotten the chip out. She reached her hand up and touched the wound, and when she looked at it her fingers were bloody. She scowled at kin before wiping her hand on her pants and crossing her arms before huffing and looking down at the ground, what now." She said stiffly before making her way back over to kin, her wound healed rather quickly but that still didn't like that fact that she didn't much of a warning.
Bane watched Kin perform the operation. He was stilling close to the fire, addressing the kid's technique. He was pretty skilled, quick with his operations. That skill would be useful in the future. Bane nodded at Kin, sitting back. A smile crept upon the hound's face, proud of the kid. Now, he had the wolf to address. "What do we do now? We lie low for the night. I can hunt down some food while you two warm by the fire." Bane straightened his back. "Let's hope Obelisk doesn't find us. If they do, scream and scatter. I will find and protect you." He locked eyes with the group, hoping they accepted him as their leader. All of them needed to escape these woods alive. "I once knew a friend before being traded away. Maybe he can help us." The hound looked forward to potentially seeing his old buddy again.
Kin smiles and nods, “Okay.” He mutters, smiling at Ember and sitting down. “I am sorry if I hurt you. Usually the operation is completely painless. I must have done something wrong. Unless I startled you. If so, I apologize.” He looks around. Seemingly, the forest would be thriving with light by the time night came. He smiles brightly as the found thought came back.
Kin looks back to Bane, “I trust you.” He murmurs.
Ember looked down at her feet and kicked the ground before she moved over to the fire and sat down wrapping her arms around her stomach, she didn't say much she felt very out of place here, in the wild without her usual surroundings. She heard birds chirping I the distance and sighed pulling her legs up to her chest and leaning her head against her knees and looked at the trees the surrounded the clearing, a ball forming in her stomach, fear what a strange feeling she had every right to fear what would happen to her if they were caught she could be killed along with her other comrades. "I- I'm not sure if I trust what is going on.. But I can sence you mean us no harm.. So I trust you. " she said simply not looking over at the hellhound, she felt a safer feeling while around the blue haired boy, kin, but wasn't sure how she felt about the wound she'd received from him.
Bane stretched, drawing his shoulders up and yawing. He hadn't stretched in forever, making this feel like the best thing on earth. A few joints popped and he grimaced. Such a disgusting sound. He looked over at Ember, regarding her body language. "You are safer with us than in there. Trust me." Bane realized he knew neither of the kids names. It would be difficult to refer to them nameless. So instead of hunting, he glanced at Kin and Ember. "Thank you. I am glad you trust me, but for our trust to go further, we should know each other's names. My name is Bane, yours?" He threw the umbra blade he had in hand, the blade dispersing into shadow. "Are you two hungry? I might be able to fetch fish. I hear a river nearby." The hound wanted to cover everyone's needs before they created a game plan.
Ember didn't look at the man she made a small sound Indicating that she had heard him, she noted the sound of his joints popping, she had especially good hearing so the sound wasn't pleasant for her either. She popped her head up at the question of her name and she thought for a moment "the.. Leader of, Obelisk, used to call me an ember.. I suppose you could call me that as well
(I just got to school so this one is super short sorry!)
(Its ok! ^^ i just woke up- XD)
Kin didn’t seem to hear Bane at first, too focused on running his fingers over the grass. He didn’t even seem to notice Banes joints popping. He blinks and looks up. “Oh. Kin.” He smiles, “And yes. I will follow you.” He looks to Ember. “Are you alright?”
(I just woke up about 3 hours ago lol)
Ember looked over at kin and nodded her head slightly "yes.. I'm okay I'm just tired- I had just got finished testing when you guys showed up.. They give me little bead like things to help me sleep, you guys showed up after they had given me them. " she said looking at the fire her knees face and toes were burning up but the rest of her body was cold and tingling, but she was mesmerized by the flames she'd never seen fire before she didn't even remember what it was called she just liked it.
(Guess who’s back at school. Unfortunately, it’s me. So my replies will be sparse throughout the day until I get home)
Bane smiled at the two. "Kin and Ember. Wonderful names." He called these two children, when in reality, they were young adult who could fend for themselves. He listened into Kin and Ember's conversation, his eyes reflecting the fire. Beads? Like medicine? Bane didn't know much about medicine, but being given things to sleep couldn't be good. "You two should get some rest. I'll go fetch some food." Bane stood, stilling as he listened to his surroundings. There was a running river with deer moving along the bank. Good enough for him. "I'll be back." He shifted into his wolf form and ran into the forest.
Kin watches as Bane runs into the forest, then looks to Ember. “The people used to give me the same thing.” He murmurs, “But I started having some weird allergic reaction to it, so they stopped. Though I did lose much sleep…” He leans against a tree, yawning. He then offers for Ember to sit with him. “I have natural body heat. So you should be warm.”
Ember stalled for a moment before moving over to where kin had sat down and leaned against the tree with him, they've giveing me that stuff my whole life, the leader of Obelisk found me when I was just a few months old.. My mother had been killed so he took me in… They all raised me-" she went quiet for a moment before pulling her legs back up to her chest "it wasn't true.. Was it? It was all a lie, a trick." She looked at her feet which felt a little warmer but the deep from the grass was making them cold and numb.
Kin nods. “Yes…unfortunately…” He stares at the grass, tracing his finger along the cool green blades. “They…didn’t treat me as well as they did you though…” He mutters, tracing the petals of a wild flower.
Embers face went red and she looked away, it was true that she was treated better than most of the other test subject but she still got tested on she was still lied to just like all the other's, the nice room she had was just something they gave her to make her feel loved and accepted. But she wasn't it was just a ruse ruse so she would help them.
Kin sighs, “My apologies if that seemed insensitive…I didn’t mean it that way…” He looks at her, “We’ve all been through Hades and back. I understand what you could have went through.”
Ember shrugged reached to touch a small purple flower that hadn't wilted yet, she didn't pick it but she knocked some dew off of it, " I like it out here.. It's cold, and it smells nice, the smells of Obelisk always burned my nose.. I couldn't ever smell the others that were there.. How did you guys know I was there? "
