(Awww! And yeah I have a few writing samples from old rps and personal writing projects. And ship’s mechanic actually sounds like a really good idea!!)

(if Jaiden is vouching for you, I'm sure you'll fit just fine :) But again, don't listen to me, ScotchTape runs the show here)

(My opinion can't be that valued XD )

(GOBLIN TIME!)

Pyria was setting up fuses, phosphorous, magnesium and potassium, as well as dancing around sprinkling liberal ammounts of gunpowder.

Upon seeing Inez, she hisses and growls, her rabbit-like ears flattening against her skull.

(Well, I do value your opinion, but also, if anybody had vouched for vimes I'd say the same. I just don't know him is all. 'DoN't tAKe eVerYthINg so PerSOnAlly', Jaiden XD )

(Lol, fair.)

@ScotchTapeWorm group

(Oh- Goodness I've missed quite a lot, hm? Grin Vimes, I would personally adore to have you, whether it be as a mechanic or first mate(we really need both tbh). A crazy mechanic, person would fit in well! I am also more excited than words for goblin time, even with everything going on eh- Upstairs? Updeck? Up?? But, yeah, vimes, if you want a character sheet, pop one up and we'll find a way to work you in as always! )

The Captain continued making eye contact with the Siren, absolutely delighted when the thing decided to actually contribute to their conversation in meaningful words. Then the words registered.

The cheering crew went silent, a few shocked it could actually speak, and the ones with forward thinking skill immediately looking towards their Captain with a look of wary hesitance. After all, Silver-Tongue was not known for taking.. Insubordination well, and the Captain took in the Sirens words.. Slowly.

"Are you done?" The creature had a beautiful speaking voice, rich and full, just an echo of the spell it could unleash in full song. Bronze-eyes that were plotting and planning met his. "you talk too much."

. . .

Axel's violet eyes only showed disgust. Without hesitating, he pulled the trigger on Greed, the poor creature propped up between his legs crumbled without a sound, only a small puff of air leaving its mouth. The sound was deafening, ringing throughout the ship with a terrible, bang. A sound some had become all too acquainted with in the past hour. The Siren's upper half was just a hunk of meat at this point, with barely any head and no lower half, it wasn't at all recognizable as the proud creature it had once been not even the day before. Probably swimming freely, doing.. Whatever it is sea monsters do.

The Captain himself was splattered with blood and gore, his white shirt staining a deep crimson red, chunks of flesh clung to his jacket and face. Silver-Tongue hissed slowly, wiping some blood from his forehead with a disgusted face. His smile had vanished, leaving only murder and hate in his eyes, face twisted into a grimace. Taking three strides forward, purposeful and furious. The tall man approached the net, quickly reloading Greed in a quick, practiced and violent motion. He barely even took aim, already unholstering Avarice from his other leg, shooting the sobbing Siren before it had a chance to move, in the same spot as its friend, right between the eyes. Another bullet quickly followed, directly in the chest.

Silence reigned.

The Captain was breathing deeply, feeling the rage bubbling in his chest. The sound of the gunshots were ringing in his ears, blotting out all other noise. He wanted to scream, to roar, to slaughter every man, woman, or beast on the deck for even daring to look at him. For daring to exist, to look at him with emotions other than fear. His heart matched his furious breathing, a wardrum pounding away, the sound filling his head and thoughts. Axel wanted to take the Sirens corpses and cut them into little bits, paint with the blood, and hunt down more, showing them exactly what he'd done to their friends. Silver-Tongues breathing increased, getting faster with his growing anger, he slowly stalked towards the last remaining Siren, the one with the bronze eyes. He reloaded both of his guns, slowly this time, not the jerky, quick motion he'd done earlier. He made eye contact again, and paused.

Killing this creature now was not enough. Reigning in his temper was no easy task, but after a few heartbeats, the Captain managed it. His face, a mask of hate and a terrible, terrible rage, was quarantined to just his eyes, promising murder and pain and vengeance. A slow, deliberate, and horrible smile grew on Captain Silver-Tongue's face. It held no humor, no mirth, just a sadistic joy at whatever thoughts were flashing through his head. His breathing was still slightly ragged as he smiled, the sound hissing through his teeth.

"You. You've made a mistake, love." The pirates voice had dropped to a whisper, but his tone was no less intense. "Welcome aboard The Deceit, you've made it to hell early." Perhaps it wasn't anything interesting, but the mans 'pirate' accent had disappeared, his voice flat and barely held any inflection to it. If it weren't for his eyes, he sounded dead. It didn't last long. The monster adressed his crew this time.

"Take the whole net into the hold. Don't let the thing go, throw a cup of salt-water on it every hour." His voice hadn't lost that odd tone, but the grin still sat firmly on Axel's face. It seemed like it would stay there forever, a permanent reminder. The crew were eager to please. They'd seem what happened if you refused.

(Um. Sorry? I- I probably should have warned, Axel doesn't take being told 'no' well. T^T Um, if this doesn't work for anyone, I am willing to rewrite it, if its unworkable. This is just what first came to mind. Um. Sorry again? :')) )

(i like that there wasnt any warning, if there were it wouldnt be as much of a surprise)

Kavo nodded slowly to himself as Axel Silver-tongue reacted to the foolish Siren about as well as could be expected. And he was once again surprised by the Captain's merciful streak. 2 deaths in 3 shots was remarkably kind, given how the sirens could have died.
The Deceit did, interestingly enough, have a brig, a barred cell meant for prisoners or insubordinates. With the Captain's tendency to shoot anyone who disagreed with him, it wasn't used much, but it would fit the Siren, net and all.
The crew scrambled to obey, some at least pulling on gloves, others just grabbing the barbed net with their bare hands like idiots. Kavo briefly considered just carrying the whole thing down, himself, but decided he'd done enough in the last little bit. He watched as the mass of men struggled down the hatch into the hold, before turning to the Captain.
The man made him a bit nervous, mostly by his unpredictable moods. Kavo had learned in the course of the day that Silver-tongue could not be counted on to do anything you expected of him exactly how you expected it.
So he stood and waited for orders on a heading, assuming the Captain would have somewhere he wanted to go to sell the siren bits, or at least what they could salvage from the bloody messes left on the deck.

(no please don't warn us!!! I think one of my favorite parts of roleplaying is that nobody knows what the other is going to do and without warning, we simply go off of it. whether it be something big such as this or a small thing like-idk they hold another characters hand out of nowhere lmao)
(Its very nice! And i love how you wrote it too! Absolutely beautiful XD)

Orion waits for the captains expression to change at his words, and they sure as hell did.
Watching the crew go silent as Orions voice echoes through the winds, the tides seemed to fall to silence's hold as the captain moves.
He expected the siren to be shot, in fact-he wanted it. To put them out of their misery like the poor dog it seemed to be.
His eyes focus on whats left of the poor creature, their soul leaving the body. Orion could almost hear their cries even in death. Their face unrecognizable was unsettling but Orion simply takes a deep breath and shakes it off.
just hold it in… hold it in Orion
He jumps in his skin when he comes towards the net, his muscles tensing and flinching with every click of the metal as he reloads the gun. This was it… this is where the captain shot him and sold his pieces to disgusting humans and creatures alike. Would they make him into shark fin soup or have his scales mixed into a witchy concoction?
No matter what it was…at least it would be over now….
BANGGGG
Orion closing his eyes and turning away at the ear deafening sound.
Another one? BANG
Blood splattering on the wooden deck of The Deceit, he turns his head towards the captain, his eyes hesitantly following where the guns were pointed before he reloads them once again. Looking at his dead friend on the ground, then back up at the captain in front of him as he reloads his guns.
Orion knew this would happen. Why was he so shocked?
Though Orions uneasiness only grew as the captains smile did so. What now?

"You"
shit Orion thinks to himself
You've made a mistake, love."
i've really done it now…. just kill me already

"Welcome aboard The Deceit, you've made it to hell early"
Orion cant tell if the tall mans words were to put fear into him or not, but all Orion felt was relief. Phase one of his plan had worked. Now to work out the kinks for phase two.

When he orders the crew to take the net into the hold as well, Orion only wondered about all of the bodies with him. Would they take them out and keep them elsewhere or did he intend to let Orion sit with his dead brethren as they rot.
He tries not to think about it too much, thinking of what to do now. What could he do now? It wasn't like he could get himself out of this heavy ass net all by himself?
"You're a coward. Just like the rest of them." Orion hisses at the captain, his voice soft but his tone sharp and jagged. "I dare you to hide me away instead of face me like the real man you think you are…captain" he says as the crew starts towards him.
"You use nets, other men and guns, as you aren't capable of holding your own in a real fight." Orion finishes, letting the crew take him away. He didn't want to look at the captains face anymore anyway.
Though before they touch the net, Orion braces himself for the barbs about to dig into his flesh and cause even more damage to his body.

(sorry this isn't too well written. Im all over the place rn :~;)

@ScotchTapeWorm group

Breathing out deeply through his nose, the Captain never once let his grin fall, not when some of the dead Sirens blood dripped down into his eyes, making the world crimson before his secondary eye-lids handled the problem, not when the creature taunted him, in fact his grin only widened at that. Axel didn't bother to respond, he knew he wasn't a coward, he'd danced with death too many times to truly fear it.

As a matter of fact, Silver-Tongue prided himself in never, once, fighting fair. As a child, he cheated at every game, he had two older brothers, if he ever wanted to win, one learned to fight dirty. Hit under the belt, strike when your opponent was down. A fair fight didn't exist, it was a myth created by fools to make them feel better themselves. In Axel's mind there were only two kinds of people, the kind who won, at all costs, and those who lost. He liked to think of himself as a winner.

Besides, what was fairness in a world like the one they lived in? Kavo would always win in a contest of strength, no matter how hard a human trained their body, a Siren would always win a competition for singing, no matter how talented the opponents were, the Captain himself could feel danger before others. Was that fair? No, but he had survived and he had won. The dirtier the win, the more accomplished Silver-Tongue felt, if his opponents were too afraid to do something, that was just an exploitable flaw, not a moral paragon.

Oddly enough, the Sirens last biting comments as it and the mound of corpses were dragged to the brig had buoyed the Captains mood. It had amused him greatly to think about, his smile becoming more genuine, the lines of anger around his eyes never quite disappearing, but smoothing out. His hope was that the bronze-eyed Siren would find its own way out of the net, so they could drag the corpses out later, but they could always extract it if it couldn't manage to free itself. Even slightly rotted, the reward for the bodies was great. It jogged his memory and the Captain began barking orders to begin fishing out any salvageable corpses, just Sirens, not the sailors. It was considered an honorable death and the men seemed enthusiastic to deny their enemies even that. They got to work, and the Captain rubbed his chin, deep in thought.

The wisest course would have been to turn right around and head back to the little un-named port town, selling their goods and making a tidy profit in probably the least amount of time they'd ever had. But in all likelihood, the port had already been absolutely glutted with new arrivals, Silver-Tongue had shown up among the first for a reason, if you were clever you could get the merchants to make you more favorable deals, as they hadn't yet been burned by any of the other crews. The next nearest town was a two days travel to the west, which would require a small amount of doubling back, avoiding the opening of the port towns cove. If they got most of the corpses in the chilled room the Captain had already set up, they'd probably last until then. That settled it then!

In an infinitely better mood than his rampage a few seconds earlier, The Captain came up to Kavo, smiling genially.

"We're headin' to Harpsford Bay, Kavo! You know where it is? Maps 'er in the maproom if not, yer smart, I'm sure you won't dissapoint! Where'd the lass wiggle off to?" The Captain looked around for Inez, his brows starting to pull down into a frown, he looked more puzzled than angry though. The intense friendliness was off-putting, and the rage hadn't quite dissipated from Axel's eyes, he was putting on a front, a happy face just seconds away from snapping. His eyes were more intense than normal, darting around like he was looking for an excuse to do something.

(me too, i think its pretty great!)

BANG

Guns again, Inez thought, her attempt to read labels interrupted. A bit of yelling, struggle. Inez actively chose not to think about it, looking back at the label. She didn't recognize the first letter. Or second, or fourth. Something above her (or what she assumed was above her) scuffled around. She kept trying to- The footsteps again. No, they are coming from inside, nearby. Inez haphazardly dropped the vial, and luckily it didn't break. She peered behind some boxes. A short creature, hiding behind a stack of stuff, was putting something on the floor. It hissed at her, a response that had become normal. "Hi." Inez greeted the creature casually, wondering how long they'd been there. She assumed it was female, but it was dark. "How long have you been here?" Her eyes widened in realization. "You didn't hear me, uh-" Inez decided not to bring it up. "Never mind. What are you doing? I haven't seen you here." Again, distracted. She wondered if it spoke English only after asking her questions.

Kavo watched the Captain's mood swing wide from what it had been. Somehow, the Siren's attempt to taunt him or barb him or jab at him or otherwise bother him had… well, failed was putting it mildly.
Silver-tongue seemed weirdly happy.
He thought for a long moment, before barking orders. The sailors who hadn't been part of the willing party to drag the sirne and corpses into the brig jumped at the chance to show they were just as loyal, by fishing out corpses. Kavo was about to join them, when the Captain stepped up to him.
Kavo did indeed know where Harpsford Bay was, and began running calculations in his head about travel time and speed and wind direction and tilt, before he was pulled from that by the question about Inez. He noted the Captain's displeasure, and his volatile mood, and immediately did his best to shield the gentle cook.
"Sir, I sent her below to find something to take care of this." He indicated the wound on his chest. It was shallow, and had already clotted, but it was his best excuse, and honesty was the best policy with a madman. "I can retrieve her if you'd like, since I sent her off." The Karcaon made sure to put the responsibility on his shoulders as much as possible, so the volatile Captain would have no reason to blame Inez for missing his spectacle.

Pyria pauses, tilting her head. Considering.

After a moment, she hisses again and goes back to placing the violent shinies down, then steps back and smiles.

"Boom." she says, pointing at the ship, then at the fuses, metals and gunpowder.

She makes a clapping gesture, which produces sparks and the sound of flint striking steel.

She does it again.

The Captain waved Kavo off, if he sent the Karcaon to find Inez, he'd just end up having to wait around even more. He was restless, not quite sure what to do with himself after the violence and blood was over. A part of his chest felt hollowed out and empty, compared to the thrill of before.
"Ignore it, I'll…" Silver-Tongue trailed off, unsure of where he was going with his own sentence. The tall man looked.. Distant, and highly distracted. If he'd sat and thought about it long enough, the Captain probably would have pressed on such a weak excuse, the wound was hardly life-threatening, but as it was the Captain waved it off. Maybe the girl got a bit too green at the gills with all the gore, or she had wanted to do something on her own. His mind couldn't stay on one topic too long anyways, his mind wandering from thing to thing.

Not finishing his half-constructed sentence, the pirate captain left the crab-man standing on the deck, retreating to his own cabin. The crew would handle themselves, both satisfied and afraid from the show, a good combination to have in general. The Captains quarters contained many silks, either hanging from the ceiling in weirdly intricate braids, or laid across other furniture in no discernible pattern or reason to it. The only thing resembling a theme was that all of the furniture was of a kind of dark, expensive wood, making the shadows look deeper in the corners, really selling the illusion of walking into a beasts den.

There were many things to look at, some would say too many, the room had so many oddities as to assault the eyes, every object vying for attention over another. Treasures and trinkets set up seemingly at random. But what was usually noticed was, instead of a window, a small tank was set up where one would be. It vaguely resembled a fish tank, mixed with a terrarium. It wasn't filled with water, but was instead a little ecosystem with a little pool in the side, a small house set up, and lots of vegetation filling it.

Still deeply engrossed in thought, the Captain approached the tank, knocking some food in it for Trix. Amused as the little pixie creature poked its head out of its little home. As always, she glared at him and made a rude gesture before going to retrieve whatever food he vaguely assumed little beasties like her ate, probably destroying her diet. As she searched, she kept glancing up at the Captain warily, looking more on edge than usual. Trix was a little fairy creature, with delicate wings that resembled a dragonflies and she couldn't have stood at over an inch and a half tall. She had leaf-green eyes and brown hair that didn't go past her thin neck. She used to be able to speak, but it was in an annoying tinkling sort of way, so she couldn't speak anymore. Silver-Tongue watched her for a few moments, before she found the food he'd left her and she retreated to her home. He wasn't quite sure why he kept the fairy, though he was 80% sure she was good luck, maybe he liked being able to have a creature firmly sat in a box that he could move, something he could crush in the palm of his hand if he wanted.

Besides, now that Trix couldn't make much noise anymore, it was a cute little pet. With a deep sigh, the Captain ran his hand through his hair, he probably looked frightful. With all the blood coating him, it was no wonder the little dear looked scared. For now, Axel settled on a change of clothes, switching out his usual jacket for a deep purple one, changing his stained shirt while he was at it. Taking a wash cloth in his calloused hands, Axel began to clean off his neck and hands as well, though Siren blood seemed particularly stubborn to remove from skin.

He sat in one of his chairs, heaving out a long sigh. It had been a long day and the pirate captain was thoughtful. He could feel his muscles begin to relax, starting at his lower spine. Silver-Tongue lounged like a cat, one leg thrown over the arm of the chair, his arm hung down the back. With his free hand he picked up a book, aimlessly flipping through it as he decided whether to do something else or sleep. He still felt tense, which was odd, he usually got the best sleep directly after a fight. Dark brows knitted themselves into a frown, the air still didn't taste quite right.. It was unsettling.
