Hannah rubbed her wrist, unsure how exactly to answer the principal's question. But she forced herself to say something. “I don't have an excuse for my behavior. Other than the possibility of wanting a bit of an adventure for the first time in my life.”
Answering the mother's on the other hand was much easier. “Kaz and I just met yesterday so he had no reason to mention me.” she said simply as she chose not to mention that yesterday was also her first time playing hooky. Though perhaps it wasn't necessary to say it.
"You could have easily have sought that elsewhere." He shook his head disappointedly.
The mother just scoffed softly, "they need to be punished! And not just regular detention either!"
He rubbed his face, "yes ma'am. We will go over there punishments at a later date. For now they will get Friday school.'
“Yes, sir.” Hannah acknowledged softly, biting her tongue at how Kaz's mother seemed so eager to tear down her own son and not care what happens to anyone else. Her face paled slightly when she realized that, of course, the principal was going to tell her parents about… everything. And she dreaded what her parents would do to her.
Kazuya just seemed very deflated as his mother spoke.
She stood up, brushing herself off with a huff. "You best tell the girls parents as well! They need to know what kind of child they have been raising." She looked at her with disgust, before moving to leave.
The principal exhaled, "I will be telling your parents unfortunately, however since you kids are good students I will lessen the punishments."
Hannah clenched her hands into white-knuckled fists, doing everything she could not to rise to the arrogant, vicious harpy’s snide comments. Though her face was no doubt starting to show her own frustration and disgust. She closed her eyes and let out a slow breath before nodding gratefully at the principal's minor assurance. “Thank you, sir.”
"Your dismissed though I expect you to show up to detention." He sighed softly.
Kazuya immediately got up and left without a word.
“Yes, sir.” Hannah acknowledged, standing and quickly followed after Kaz. “Are you alright?” she whispered once they were out of the office.
Kazuya seemed to pull away from her, trying to loose her in the crowd.
"Just…forget you knew me." He muttered to her, before speeding off and trying to loose her in the crowd
Hannah ran up to him and grabbed his wrist. “I can give you two words to tell you why I can't. And anyway, why should I?” she asked firmly. “Just because your mon is a Karen and got us both in trouble? I can handle it.”
He pulled his wrist away from her.
"I know we're soulmates, but you don't want to be apart of this family. Trust me. Now if you would leave me alone that would be appreciated."
“I don't care. We're in the same boat. Your mom doesn't like me, I can't say I like her either, but I strongly doubt my parents will like you, and I… I’m almost sure you wouldn't like them.” she argued, standing her ground on this. “Yesterday was the best day of my life and I would do it again, regardless of the trouble.”
"It's only going to go downhill from here if you continue to hang out with me, you know that right?" He looked at her with a sad but hopeful look in his eyes.
“That doesn't surprise me.” she nodded with a sigh. “But I'm used to low points, I would like to fight for some higher ones and that would make them sweeter. Wouldn't it?”
He just seemed to grin at her, "yeah that would. I still am sorry about my mom though."
She smiled softly back and shook her head slightly. “Don't apologize. It's not your fault she's… like that.” she cleared her throat at the awkwardness of the statement. “But I am curious how she found out about me, and the two of us skipping school.” she admitted, not judging or blaming him for anything.
He sighed, " she came into my room and took my phone, searching through our texts she found out about yesterday." He rubbed his neck as he spoke.
"Unfortunately I don't think she's gonna let me get away with this one, despite me telling her I was in the hospital."
“Ah. That makes sense.” she nodded. “I guess she doesn't believe in or respect personal privacy. Not that my parents are much better. They probably don't check my phone because they think I don't have any friends to socialize with.” she shrugged, not mentioning that they wouldn't approve of anyone who would want to be her friend.
"No. She does not. I'm honestly just waiting for the time when I can finally leave that hell hole." He stretched out his arms.
“I know that feeling.” she sighed. “Even if it's just a crummy little apartment somewhere… It's better than what we have to deal with.”

"Yeah..your right. We should probably start looking for somewhere. The sooner we can get out..the better it will be."
Hannah smiled softly at him and nodded. “And if you want, we can get a part-time job and split the rent…” she offered, blushing as she realized she didn't mind the idea of sharing a place with him.
He nodded, "yeah definitely. I'm sure I can get a good job to help pay for the appartment." He thought for a moment. "Maybe j can use my parents reputation to get a better paying job."
“And I know how to write up a good resume. I can probably get some of my teachers to let me list them as references.” she added. “I can't wait to get away from my parents.”
"Looks like we're a couple of smart kids well prepared to get away from our controlling parents.' He chuckled softly, though he couldn't wait to get awah from his mom and dad.
She giggled, blushing again, and nodded. “Well, from what we know about our parents… Do you blame us?”
