"Yeah, you'll be okay Mori. Just stay still for a sec, okay?" Rachel wrapped bandages around his head gently, not wanting to hurt him anymore. "You know, if you're still upset, I can sing you a song." She said, smiling at the bean. "It's called Wellerman. You ever hear of it?"
"He's right, stay awake." Earl said as he finished wrapping the bandages. "Falling asleep would be the worst thing for you to do right now." Throwing Lilac over his shoulder, he started walking over to the couch to set her down.
(Bean’s a girl-)
Bean and Luka stood up, with Bean holding Lilac’s hand tightly. “Don’t worry sis…we’ll get you patched up…” she smiled as Lilac nodded slowly. “O…Okay…” Lilac muttered.
Mori kept as still as he could, rubbing at his tears with one small fist and smearing a bit of his blood across his cheek. "I-I don't think I've heard of it, no… you don't have to sing if you don't want to, ma'am. I wouldn't want to cause any more trouble…" He winced a bit whenever he was touched, seeming uneasy.
(Wait wrong bean-
bean as in a smol bean, not Bean the character-)
"It's fine. Besides, it'll help calm you down." Rachel said, smiling gently as she finished wrapping the bandages. "There once was a ship that put to sea
And the name of that ship was the Billy o' Tea
The winds blew hard, her bow dipped down
Blow, me bully boys, blow
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go
She had not been two weeks from shore." She took a breath before continuing.
"When down on her a right whale bore
The captain called all hands and swore
He'd take that whale in tow
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go
Before the boat had hit the water
The whale's tail came up and caught her
All hands to the side, harpooned and fought her
When she dived down below (huh)
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum…"
Earl sat Lilac down as gently as possible. "Drink this. You need more than I do." He set his canteen of water down on her lap. "Take it easy, and don't walk without help."
Lilac nodded as she grabbed onto the canteen and started drinking. Bean held her brother close as Luka started shaking a little. “LuLu, you okay?” she asked as Luka shook his head. The blood…it all reminded him too much of what happened with Hailey…
Mori kept close to Rachel while she sang, still trembling where he sat and sniffling quietly. He had his arms loosely around himself, wanting to feel secure but not wanting to hurt himself in the process by squeezing too hard. He closed his eyes, trying to relax, although he wasn't having much luck. "My head hurts…" He whispered weakly.
"It's okay kid…I have some IBProfen that'll help with the headache." Rachel hugged him gently. "Just relax for a bit, okay? Everything will be fine…" She flashed back to her days with her parents. When they were hunting some boar, she had hit her head on a tree. Rachel remembered saying the same thing her father, and how he comforted her while trying to get her to calm down. It was…saddening.
Earl sat down on a chair, sighing with relief. "I need to do more cardio…really need to exercise honestly…" He muttered under his breath.
Bean sat Luka down, holding him close as she brushed her fingers through his hair. “Lilac’s okay…we’re okay…everything will be okay…” she whispered as Luka leaned against her.
Mori nodded weakly, still uneasy, but allowing Rachel to hug him. "What's Ibuprof… profen…?" He asked softly, the word feeling a bit odd and unfamiliar in his mouth. "How is it gonna help my head?"
"It's pills. They help with pain, cancel it out. Trust me, it's useful." Rachel grabbed her canteen and pulled out a small container filled with pills. "Have you taken pills before?" She asked, already thinking of alternate ways of administering the medicine.
"Is everyone all okay? Lilac? Well, other than the knife wound…" Earl added under his breath. "If anyone needs something, I probably have it in my pack." He pulled out a cigarette pack anxiously. He didn't like being trapped. Especially by zombies. It was a recipe for disaster.
Lilac nodded slowly. Bean looked up at Earl. “Yeah, we’re okay…other than Luka needing a minute to calm down, we might be alright…” she sighed as Luka looked away. “Do you have any food in there?”
"Not that I remember, but I can try my best…" Mori eyed the pills warily, fidgeting a bit with his hands. "How do I do it?" He asked, turning his gaze up to Rachel for instruction. "Do I just… you know… eat it?"
"Kind of. You swallow it with some water." Rachel said, handing the canteen and pills to the kid. "Put them in your mouth and drink some water. Best way to do it."
(Ack short-)
"Plenty." He opened up his pack, looking inside. "Let's see…we got corn, bean, green beans, more regular beans, skittles, a burger, casserole, rice, tacos, some pork, and I think squirrel." Earl handed the pack to Bean. "Your pick."
Bean smiled as she grabbed the burger, rice, and skittles. She handed the rice to Lilac and the burger to Luka, keeping the skittles for herself. Once all three of them stated eating, things got a little calmer.
"So… don't chew it?" Mori accepted the pills and the water, examining the pills for a few seconds before sticking them in his mouth. He winced a bit at the taste, drinking some of the water to try and get them to go down. He choked a bit and gagged, coughing until he spit the pills back out into his hand with tears stinging his eyes.
"Whoa, whoa, easy. Not so fast. Don't think about it when you're drinking the water. Just relax and drink the water." Rachel rubbed Mori's back, trying to calm him down. "You okay?"
Earl took the squirrel for himself, preferring the things he hunted. "So where's the other guy? Tohru, or something?"
(Little Fetus loser lmao can't even take pills 😩🙄😔✋🥱😝)
Mori nodded weakly and tried again after he'd regained himself, going slower this time. He still struggled with it quite a bit, but eventually managed to get the pills down. "Nngh… is it… is it always that hard…?"
“No clue…hope he’s okay…” Bean shrugged as she continued to eat the skittles. Once her siblings were finished with their food, she sighed. “How much longer are we gonna be separated from the others…?” Luka muttered as Bean shook her head. “I have no idea, bro…”
(Agajsls I feel that lmaoooo I was way too old when I learned to swallow pills. I still suck at it)
(cries in why do I know how to swallow pills easily)
(Same. Pills are weird)
"You get better at it. In the apocalypse, painkillers will be your friends." Rachel stood up, gathering her gear. "How about we go join the others and relax, eh?"
Earl nodded. "I hope so too." He yawned and sat back in his chair. "Man, despite the zombies and everything, hunting season has never been better.."
(I'm pretty good at swallowing pills aha)
"O-Okay…" Mori got to his feet unsteadily, nearly falling over once he was up, but managing to catch himself on the wall. "Mmm… where… um… where are they…?" He asked weakly, his vision shifting in and out of focus.
“Our dad used to take us hunting too…” Bean muttered. She missed her parents badly. She wondered what they were doing…if they were even alive. Luka hugged Bean because apparently tears had decided to escape her eyes. Great. Just what she needed.
Earl regretted mentioning hunting when he saw how Bean reacted. "…I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." He said as he finished his squirrel.
"I got you." Rachel picked Mori up gently, trying to not cause too much pain as she went dow the stairs. The pills would take a few minutes to kick in, and that would seem like the longest minutes ever to Mori ever. She knew what it was like to have a concussion.
"Mmmmm…" Mori closed his eyes and relaxed a bit in Rachel's arms, wincing whenever his head gave him a particularly sharp pang of pain. He kept his arms crossed over his chest, still trembling from the fear and pain.
“No, no, it’s fine…it was bound to come up anyway…” Bean sighed, pulling Luka close. She would pull Lilac close but that might cause some issues with her wound. She started fiddling with her hair.
"How did you come to that survivor camp, if I may ask?" Earl asked, pulling out a cigarette out of his jacket pocket. "Where's my lighter…" He muttered.
Rachel walked out to the living room, nodding at Earl and glancing at Lilac as she set Mori down next to her. "Now take it easy, okay?"
“We were looking for it for a while…we had been separated from our parents and Lilac and….when we managed to get there, it wasn’t long until our sister Hailey died…” Bean trailed off as she felt Luka tighten his grip on her. Luka didn’t really like talking about Hailey’s death.
