Sam continued to sleep peacefully, snuggled close to Karia. This wasn't how he had expected his night to go, but he wasn't upset in the least by it. He let out a soft breath, a smile coming to his lips.
"Mm…"
Sam continued to sleep peacefully, snuggled close to Karia. This wasn't how he had expected his night to go, but he wasn't upset in the least by it. He let out a soft breath, a smile coming to his lips.
"Mm…"
Karia was fully intending on not falling asleep. He intended to simply stay there until Sam woke up, but he was so comfortable that he couldn't stop himself. His descent into sleep was slow, so he managed to make sure Sam was still comfortable before he too fell asleep.
Sam slept peacefully throughout the night, keeping himself close to Karia and more than comfortable. He woke up in the morning, rubbing at his eyes. He looked up to remember he was laying on Karia, smiling slightly. He moved to pull away and stand up, running a hand through his hair and walking to his room to get ready for the day. He hummed, stepping in and closing the door. He glanced at Augustine and Harina on the bed, then grabbed his brush.
Karia slept a dreamless sleep, which he rather appreciated. Maybe it had something to do with Sam, though he didn't know for sure. When he woke up, Sam had already left. Karia took his time getting up and walked lazily to his room. The door to Sam's room was closed, so that's where Karia guessed he was.
Sam hummed as he brushed his head, moving to sit down as he did. He crossed his legs, a small smile still clinging to his lips. He had a feeling it wouldn't be leaving any time soon.
"So, you two, didn't cause any trouble while I slept with Karia, did you?" He teased, knowing how impossible it was for Harina and Augustine to do anything.
Karia gently kicked his door closed and set about getting ready for another day of entertaining things and funny people. Well, that would be his ideal day. How wonderful would that day be?
"You what?" The exclamation slipped past Harina's lips before she could stop herself, and she immediately pressed her lips together. Augustine didn't react to Sam's words, staring forward vacantly. It seemed they'd simply given up.
Sam snorted some at Harina's response to his words, laughing some.
"Yes, what did you think I was doing when I didn't come back in here for the night? I must admit, it was more enjoyable being intimate with someone than I had assumed before. Karia was quite encouraging and gentle with me." Sam hummed some still brushing his hair before setting his brush down. He looked down at Augustine, who had failed to react to his words, moving to pick them up.
"Hm? Nothing at all?" He asked, turning Augustine to be looking up at him.
Harina spluttered, muttered something that contained 'unnecessary and 'why me', and went quiet. Augustine attempted to maintain their vacant stare but being forced to look right at Sam apparently snapped them out of it. "I don't care," They snapped, voice dark and angry.
"Ah, now that's more like it~" Sam said, laughing some. Augustine's anger didn't affect him, then, if anything making him laugh more. "For a moment there I thought I might as well put you in the bag with the others. Tell me, why so pouty, hm?" Sam leaned forward some, looking down at Augustine.
"Why am I pouty?" Augustine asked, sounding as though they couldn't believe the question they'd just been asked. "Why do you think?" Harina gave a small sound of agreement, giving off the air of wanting to agree but not wanting to do anything that might make Sam angry. Fearful anger, perhaps.
"I have no idea," Sam said, shrugging some. "I haven't done anything exceedingly painful to you, after all. So far Karia and I have just been messing with you two. I mean, if you don't like that, I could always stop holding back." The man lifted Augustine closer to his face, smiling. It didn't match his eyes, though, a hard, sadistic glint showing.
Augustine growled, then went quiet. It seemed they didn't want to push Sam anymore. Harina somehow became quieter, despite not having said anything recently. The two avoided his eyes, as well.
Sam let out a sigh, looking between Augustine and Harina.
"You two are no fun, did you know that? Hopefully, this Adrian is going to be more entertaining to deal with once he gets added to the collection." He sat Augustine down by Harina's side, standing up.
"Though, if not that's no skin off my back. I'd suggest thinking over what your choice is going to be in the future, though, because I've suddenly decided that I'm not going to have more than two of you out at a time, and I'm going to keep the most entertaining ones out."
Harina took a sharp breath at the mention of Adrian. Augustine didn't have such a severe reaction, but they did look surprised.
"You're going after Adrian?" They asked softly, voice full of surprise. "Good luck with that." Augustine scoffed.
"Heh, yeah." Harina laughed nervously.
"While I didn't have to prove it with either of you, I'm a skilled fighter." Sam glanced back over, still smiling some. "Besides, you both know it only takes a single knick for the process to start." He moved over to the bed, kneeling down and taking Harina's chin gently in his hand.
"Anything to share, dearie? You seem nervous. Any information that could help me will get you much favor, you know, something you'll find you'll need."
Augustine narrowed their eyes at Sam, looking slightly offended. Harina looked as though she regretted her life choices, but she opened her mouth at the mention of favor. "Wel… he… he has a weapon. A girl named Moriarty. She–"
"She has this weird control over metal," Augustine interrupted, giving Harina a smug look. "She's the best fighter he has. She's the one you have to watch out for."
Sam looked down when Augustine interrupted Harina, moving to knock their head with one knuckle.
"I asked her, not you," he chided, looking back to Harina. "Thank you, for your help. I won't forget this, hm?" Sam paused, looking over Harina's face for a moment.
"What's your connection to this Moriarty?" He suddenly asked. "You sound like you have one, but I'm not sure what kind."
Augustine huffed in annoyance, seeming mad that Sam hadn't acknowledged their input. Harina pressed her lips together. "I got into a couple of fights with her. She stole something from me one time and killed a lot of my people. Just the usual stuff."
"Ah, I see." Sam figured there might be more to the story, but he didn't really care. He lightly patted Harina's cheek, offering a smile before pulling back. He looked to Augustine, then, using a finger to tilt their head up to look at Sam.
"If I want your input on something, I'll ask for it, understood? And perhaps next time you'll be the one to offer your help. If you're not in the bag by then, of course."
"Fine," Augustine snapped, trying and failing not to look alarmed by the mention of the bag. Harina looked as though she was about to laugh.
"Sam! What do you want for breakfast?" Karia's voice came from the kitchen, accompanied by the sound of something metal crashing to the ground. "Oops."
Sam chuckled faintly, letting his hand drop from Augustine's chin. The doll didn't know half of how bad the bag really was, but they would eventually.
"Well, what do you have?" Sam called out. He stepped back, moving to the door. He walked out, coming to the kitchen to see just what all had happened.
Karia, in an attempt to grab a loaf of bread from behind a couple of tin cups– why either of those was anywhere near each other was anybody's guess– had knocked the cups to the ground. When Sam walked in, Karia was staring at the cups with a look of intense disappointment and mild confusion, a bag of sliced bread in his hand. "Bread," Karia said in answer to Sam's question. "Bread and water. Maybe oatmeal if I can find it. I'm pretty sure we have butter. You can look for other things too." He waved the loaf of bread at the kitchen.
"Uh huh, I see." Sam moved to pick the tin cups up and set them on the counter, letting out a small sigh through his nose.
"You know, I think it would be a good idea for us to get some groceries later." The man started to poke around to see just what he could find that was edible.
"Heh, that might be a good idea." Karia laughed lightly and set the loaf of bread onto the counter. After doing a scan of the refrigerator, he found an almost empty tub of fake butter, which meant he had all the ingredients for toast.
Sam didn't come up with anything they could really use for breakfast, turning back to Karia.
"We'll do it later, then," he said confidently. "And get some proper ingredients for us to cook with." The man put his hands in his sweater pocket, walking over to Karia's side. "Once we get our hands on the new dolls, of course."
Karia nodded in agreement, tossing a piece of bread into the toaster as he did. "Do you want one?" He asked, glancing over at Sam. "Oh, yeah! Who did we say we were going after next? Adrian?" Karia frowned, tapping his chin. "Yeah, that sounds right. I think."
"Adrian, mhm," Sam confirmed. "And just one piece is good with me, I don't really eat breakfast. "Though, I'm curious to see how the fight will go if we encounter Moriarty beforehand. My weapon is made of metal, after all, and things could get… complicated."
"Alright." Karia nodded, tossing another slice of toast into the toaster. "Ah, yes, Moriarty. She's a tough one. A really interesting person, though." He shrugged. "I might be able to convince her to let us get away with it, though that's not a sure thing at all."
"Oh? I'm not one to leave this to chance, but I do think that that should be our first plan if you think you could. Always prepared for a fight, though." Sam leaned against the counter, thinking.
"If need be, I could kill her. I have other weapons, of course. Hell, I could use Harina, that could be interesting."
"Well, of course." Karia nodded, laughing slightly. The toaster let out a half-hearted pinging sound and he opened it. The toast was less toast and more slightly warm bread, but that was fine with him. "Here." He handed Sam his piece, then frowned. "You can use Harina? How?"
