"Surely not. You can't have every single good card in the deck. It's simply not possible." Karia shook his head slightly. Seeing Sam's next card, however, made him freeze. "Or, you know, maybe you can." He placed his card down, sure that it would be taken as soon as he lifted his fingers.
It was, of course. Sam took the card, chuckling.
"I could very well," he agreed. "It's logical, with how few you have." The man laughed a bit. "But it also means that I have many duds as well."
"Ha, truly." Karia sighed. "Now I just have to hope your duds line up with me semi-decent cards. And even then… it will be one hell of a battle."
"Indeed it will! If I don't just crush you now." Sam shook his head a bit, flipping out an ace.
"Ah–" Karia looked at the card, blinked a few times, and looked again. It was a rather comical sight, but he really was shocked by the card Sam had put down. "Are you kidding me! I hope this is a two, just so you can have a good opportunity wasted!" Karia flipped out his card, revealing… another ace. "Gah!"
Sam blinked, laughing heartily. He put his three cards out, not flipping the last one over until Karia had his out as well. He wanted to keep them in suspense for a bit, it seemed.
"So, shall we see you shrink or me grow?" He commented, smirking.
"Uh, let's see me win." Karia slowly put out three cards, then flipped out his fourth card. It was a king. "If you somehow pull out another ace, I swear to the stars I'll strangle you."
Sam laughed some, flipping his card out.
"King," he said calmly, before bursting out into laughter.
"Do you even have enough cards for this?"
"Sam!" Karia wailed, mournfully checking his remaining cards. He had exactly enough to make it through this last turn. "Alright, I'm changing my swear to if you dare to pull out a card either larger or the same as mine. So don't do that, or you will get strangled," Karia warned, putting out his cards and flipping his last one over.
"Okay, okay!" Sam laughed some, putting his own cards down before flipping his over.
"Well, then," he said, moving to collect the pile, "I think it's time for me to take my leave!" He laughed some, winking.
Karia gasped, then reached over and smacked Sam playfully on the arm. "Why? You!" He shook his head, then dramatically collapsed. "It's over, I'm dead. You've killed me with your amazing and ruthless luck. Luckily for you, because I'm dead, you can't get strangled." Karia placed a hand over his eyes, smiling the whole time.
"Oh, what a shame!" Sam said, shuffling the deck, "I was looking forward to that." He laughed, setting the cards down and moving to look down at Karia. He hummed, gently poking Karia's side with a smirk.
"Ah! That's what you get!" Karia laughed and sat up. "Do you regret utterly destroying me?" He raised an eyebrow, then smirked slightly. "Probably not."
"Nope, not at all," Sam said, smirking still. "The look on your face was priceless." He folded his legs under him.
"Hmph, that's what I thought." Karia sighed dramatically and leaned back slightly. "Woe is me, my friend cares naught for my wellbeing." He shook his head sadly.
"Friend?" Sam looked over, a bit surprised. Still, a smile came to his lips, and he looked pleased with it.
"Well, we've committed crimes together." Karia shrugged, laughing a little. "If we weren't at least friends at this point, then that would just be sad, wouldn't it?"
"Yes, it would be." Sam was still smiling some, relaxed as he laughed with Sam. "And we haven't committed too bad of crimes, just a bit of kidnapping and a murder." He chuckled some, glancing towards the bedroom before back to Karia.
"Mmm, it could have been better with more murder, to be honest," Karia smirked at Sam. "But the kidnapping certainly was entertaining and perfect. And it went much smoother than it would have gone if it was just me."
"Murder is messy," Sam pointed out, "Besides, with my methods we can inflict just as much pain without them getting the freedom of dying." Sam chuckled, but nodded.
"And it helps when kidnapping someone to have a way to permanently shut them up, keep them from squirming, and small enough to tuck away somewhere secret."
"Mmm, why do you have to be so sensible?" Karia pressed his lips together, almost pouting at Sam. "But yes, you are indispensable when kidnapping someone. It can get a little messy in here if we did it my way." He laughed.
Sam smirked some at Karia's almost pout, laughing softly.
"It's hard to not be sensible when one has a struggle to understand emotions. Besides, why bother with messy things when you have me now?" He smiled a bit, covering it some with his hand as he laughed again.
"Mmm, yeah. You make everything so much easier. This means that you aren't allowed to leave." Karia rested his chin in his hand. "I would be devastated if you decided to leave. Everything would be so difficult and boring if you did."
"Mm," Samul hummed, looking over. He smirked some, leaning forward.
"It's cute you think I'd ever leave here without taking you with me!" There was humor in Sam's voice, of course, to hide what could be considered a threat.
"Heh, I like that answer." Karia leaned forward a little as well, smirking right back at Sam. "Being kidnapped by a lovely, useful person such as yourself wouldn't be bad at all."
