A chill coffee shop? interesting.
he rolled his eyes at the mention of him having a real name..
'Of course I have a name too, I'm already regretting sharing it with you.' He texted back. surue it was cold and maybe a bit harsh but she would just have to deal with it.
He shoved his hands in his pockets, grabbing a coat that you usually wouldn't find a teen wearkng, it definitely made him look older and more dad like. it was just a simply tan trenchcoat he wore to business.
Again he has never done outings at his pleasure, its always business and gang supplies.
He glanced around until he saw the coffee shop, he had his hair down around this time. He walked into the store and saw her, walked over to her and sat in the both across from her.
She smiled at him as he sat down, ignoring his cold text. "First time i haven't been stood up in a while." Ki looked at his hair, amazed at its length. Most men had cut their hair short, but for some reason it suited him. "Anything in specific you'd like to eat or drink?" She asked him, being nice. Hopefully that could be her key into his life.
"Well then, they dont know what they are missing.." He commented adding onto her comment. he had slipped into a half suit but without the topcoat just undershirt and vest. Kinda like in his looks photo. He turned to stare at her, realizing she was looking at him.
"You find something interesting?" he asked her with a brow raised before she asked her question, he just shrugged.
"I havent been here, what do you suggest?"
"Depends on what you like. Personally I go for vanilla lattes, or iced mochas. They have good scones and muffins too" She said, pulling out her pen and giving it a few puffs. "Sorry for staring, just i really like your hair." Ki got nervous, her thumb rubbing her pen. She had to stop staring at him, he looked very attractive at this moment. Kiera put her hair up in a pony. "So word is that theres been a leak about a gang. One of the most elusive ones in town. I just pray you arent caught up with them. Their pretty serious about things."
"I may just get something more simple." he turned and saw her take a few puffs from her pen. "well that's a bit of surprise, i didn't expect you to pull out a vape pen. You know that send metal into your lungs right?" he sighed, turning to look at the counter before looking back at her. he seemed to fluster up a bit, "if you want, i have been told my hair is very soft…" he's basically saying you can feel his hair. He cleared his throat at mention of gang.
"oh? Well i didn't know you cared so much about my safety."
"You don't know a lot about me anyways." She sighed. Kiera looked at the man, tempted to feel his hair but left it alone. "Got to be concerned about safety. Everyones safety." Ki put her pen away and looked down at the table. "Anyways what would you like, its on me."
"I have a feeling that may change," he commented casually, actually kinda upset although he should be glad she didn't feel his hair. He didn't get that.
"You don't got to do nothing, you just care too much for someone you barely know and strangers." He looked at a menu, just pretend they have a menu lol.
This butt thought she was basically saying he couldn't pay for his own food so he huffed.
"I can pay, I'll just pay for the both of this." Casual flex.
"I'm being nice." She huffed, "I want to. If I'm selfless it may help with my future career." Kiera took her eyes off the table and looked at him. She thought to herself, 'hes more emotionless than i thought.' She spoke up, "You don't have to push me away. Although I get it if you want to." She kept her gaze on him, something felt wrong.
"I suppose it might," He needed to relax, he was still suck in business mode. He was slowly building a lesiure mode, but it was looking all too familar to buisness mode, he was debating asking how to relax.
"Push you away? who said i was pushing you away?" He like generally confused at her, noticing how she was staring at him. was it the hair again? no, she would be looking at his hair and looked as if she was trying to stare into his soul even though he was sure she was just trying to get to the gang. he debated asking her, and just did it anyway.
"do you, know who i am?" he asked, a bit nervous though he didnt know why.
"No one said you were. I know when i am being pushed away." She stated, "Its a well know feeling." Kiera felt awkward now, she didn't know what to talk about with him. So she dropped her stare and began to play with the hem of her sweater. "No i don't. The only thing I know about you is you said your name was Dus, which i think is short for Dustin. I could be wrong though." Kiera said, feeling nervous. She definitely blew her cover. 'Just pray that he doesnt know' she told herself.
"Oh i know the feeling way too well, just so you know Im not pushing you away i just…." he sighed. "I dont know how to relax…" he seemed a bit hesitant to admit that he didnt know how to relax. He seemed a bit shocked when she said so but then smiled just a litttle bit, She could be lying, but somehow i dont think she is. He dropped it after a while.
"Your not wrong, for once. I think i might just get a black coffee with a scone." He decided setting the menu down on the table and looking at her, even his resting face was a piercing gaze.
"Alright. Im going to skip out on getting something." Kiera said as she looked at her phone. She might be yelled at when she gets home. But oh well. It was worth it. "Being relaxed will come with time. It will take a bit but you'll be able to some time." She was hopeful about this. Ki looked back at him, all of his features coming together. "I'm sorry…for being so…nosy i guess? Its just my nature of being curious. Sorry if i made you feel on edge." She felt like she needed to apologize. Kiera felt anxious, almost like she was about to explode with questions. But she reeled that in. She focused on his hair again, for some reason, it comforted her.
"Seriously? You know what, im buying you a scone and your going to eat it at the very least take it home." he huffed out, he did just that, ordered two scones and a black coffee.
He then looked back to her.
"Yeah well it will probably come within about a year for me, I barely have time to relax. I barely do things at my lesiure." he sighed at her apology. "Meh its fine i guess, i dont usually have someone that wants to learn about stuff about me even if its just gathering information or profiling someone. im usually always on edge." He noticed her staring at his hair, and smirked just a tad.
"You sure you dont want to feel it? you sure like staring at it a lot."
She blushed when he mentioned feeling his hair, "No…I'm sure." There was something about him that comforted her. Her anxiety kicked in, and that made her lose her appetite, "Thanks for the scone, I'll take it home though." Kiera was very tempted to touch his hair, but she didn't. She respected personal space. "Thanks for walking me out of the dark side of the city. Really appreciate it." She looked at him, his face this time, trying to not stare at his hair.
He noticed her blush, it colored her cheeks rather beautifully he noticed. He blushed a little bit at the thought but immediately suppressed it. "If you say so." He turned to look to see if they had called his name yet and his hair brushed against her face momentarily, it was actually pretty soft.
He turned back to face her. "You dont need to thank me but your welcome anyway." He stared at her, back a his normal mostly emotionless expression.
"Yeah well i didnt want you to get mugged, stabbed or kidnapped. You never know what could happen if you dont have the proper defense." he dropped a slight hint about that he heard her, but he dindt know if she would catch then.
Proper defense. Those words stuck in her like a knife. Maybe he does know.. She thought to herself, damn his hair is soft Kiera gave a short cough "I need to be honest with you." Nows the time to just flat out tell him. If you want to have friends, you need to be honest Ki She thought again. "I'm not actually a secretary. But you already knew that. I know you didn't walk away. You were curious. And you watched me walk into the station." She told him, "You're not as sly as you think Dustin."
"Oh?" he raised an eyebrow, having got his coffee and holding it his hands before taking a long dramatic sip and seting it down.
he snorted when she said that he was curious and waited afterwards. "I knew the whole walk, I heard you talking to yourself in the alley way before starting to talk to you, i just decide to pretend like i didnt here anything, but yes. I id stay afterwards because I knew it wasnt your office building." For someone who says you shouldnt care so much about stranger he sure did care a lot about what happened to her. another dramatically long and loud sip of coffee
"Your not as sly as you think, but im sure you already know that." He looked around the shop.
"So whats your rank? how high up are you?" the questions slipped out before he could stop them.
"Detective." She sighed, "I'm high up, just not where I'd like to be. They have me do undercover ops but to be honest, I always blow my cover. Like now." She gave a small smile, "Trust me, I don't need to be sly around you. Especially when you are going to shut your mouth and let me in." Kiera knew exactly who dustin was. She wasn't dumb. She could tell by the mannerisms, the clothing, the expressions. "So I have a plan."
He frowned, of course she knew. He was dumb for thinking she didnt know and he could just have her think he was some low level gang hoodie.
"As if i would, I havent let anyone in. The only person i ever did let in, was my mother." It was almost as if he was challenging her to try and butt in.
"Oh? and what's this plan of yours?" he was a bit more ice like, his voice a bit sharper.
"You will let me in. I will help you guys evade the police even more." She said, her voice lowered. "If you let me in I can help you. I wont sell any of you out. The station is more so looking to get rid of your rival. The Blood Skulls. We aren't looking at you guys yet." Kiera sighed, looking at him, making pure eye contact, "But i understand if you dont want a cop in the party. It's typical of you guys thinking that most cops will rat you out." She stood up. "Text me once you've though about it."
oh. she meant that kind of let in. It almost made him a bit embarrsed about the mom comment.
"I see, and what will you when your boss starts looking into us?" he asked raising a brow at her, his face completely stotic. He took his last and final drink of the coffee before leaving the porclain mug on the table for the staff. he pt his scone in a box and stood up as well.
"I will think about it, i cant garuntee i will text you about it though."
"I'm not forcing you to." She said, "When it comes down to it, I can lie very well." Ki looked at him, she desperately needed this. "Trust me or not, we aren't after you guys yet. You are more strategic about your plays, the skulls on the other hand, arent. We're trying to deal with the messes they make. You dont leave messes." And with that Kiera left the cafe and let him think about his next move.
He watched as she spoke, then as she left and he sighed puttng a hand to his face and rubbing the bridge of his nose. I can never get away from buisness deals can i? he was had come here to maybe 'hang out' but he wouldnt get that chance and he should have known so sooner.
He waitied till she was out of sight before going back to base in a bad mood blazing his path not caring who he bumped into and just plopping down in his chair when he got back.
Kiera felt bad as she walked home. She lead this man to believe that she wanted to hang out, but yet she made him a business deal. As she walked in the door to the house her aunt started yelling at her, telling her she should've been home earlier. But Ki went straight up to her room and locked the door. I need to fix this, I really wanted to hang out with him, but I let my job take over. she thought as she plopped onto her bed. She kicked her shoes off and stared at the ceiling, he was very attractive though Shut up Ki, you cant think that, hes a gang leader, a man of no emotion.. The next thin Kiera did was shut her eyes, and fall asleep.
(kiera: yes a man of no emotion
earlier: he smirked a little bit- he smiled before it went away- he teased her a little bit- he took a draamtically long sip-)
(time skip? hes not gonna sleep lol, it why he bought the coffee)
(yeah, you wanna start this time?)
He sighed, checking his phone for the 30th time that night. He kept leaning over and checking it, he didn't know why but for some reason he kept expecting a text.
He shouldnt be, there was no promise of her texting him. Why would she text him? He shouldn't be wanting or expecting a apology or just something from her saying she actually wanted to hang out. He chided himself every time he checked it. He needed to stop.
She was just a business partner, nothing more.
He had thought about the deal through out the whole night, staying up pulling another all night and inhaling another cup of black coffee, a bit of honey in it this time. He had texted her around 2-3am, she was probably asleep so why he kept checking his phone he didn't know.
He glanced at his watch, 6:30 am it wasnt as early as he thought it was. He rubbed his tired eyes, bags already appearing under his eyes. He signed off the last of the paper work and set it in his drawer of never ending papers. He had to sort out the last disaster, he had just wanted a quick exchange but he wanted to give Dustin a headache and say that he would turn him in and so he had to do what was necessary. It was a sloppy job but he had to leave time to clean up.
He got up stretching his arms, he walked over to his closet and got out a pair of jogging clothes.
He got changed, sweatpants and a sleeveless shirt. He left the building and began jogging.
(you dont have to, I can if you need me too)
