"You're such the charmer." She murmured with a laugh. She watched her father drive, his shoulders sagging. "I can't say I don't enjoy your compliments because they honestly make me so happy." She poked at his side once more.
The building they had turned into the year-round haunted house was indeed an old factory. The building looked ominous and a little sketchy to Xio but seeing how excited her father was, she seemed to relax. "Alright, you two. Lets hurry in." Garrett said with a laugh and a grin.
“I know, and you’re the only person I’m thinking of charming,” Kai grinned and poked her back in the side before climbing out the car. He took her hand once she was out and shut the door with his foot smoothly, “Ready to get scared?”
“I feel so honored.” She giggled. She gave his hand a squeeze and hummed happily. “I’m honestly not. I know you’ll probably scare me more.” She teased.
Garrett was already at the entrance, handing the woman in the booth their tickets.
Kai chuckled, “It’s possible. When you least expect it I’m gonna make you scream the loudest you ever have.” He said, leading them over to the entrance.
“That sounded a little dirty.” She said with a grin. She followed him with a sigh, staring at the entrance as they moved along to the first few rooms.
Kai chuckled deeply, “It might have been intended that way, or maybe not.” He shrugged, “You’ll never know.”
Xio gasped softly, shuddering at the thought. It made her less afraid and more… interested in him. “That is, if you can make me scream.” She laughed softly, her hand tightening around his.
As they made their way through the first few floors, a guide explained the rules. At anytime you could tap out by using the glow stick they had given you. The closest worker would lead you to an exit and you could leave. Xio snuck her glow stick back in the bin. She wasn’t going to even be tempted to tap out.
The second they were set free to wander, Garrett had all but disappeared. His hearty laugh could be heard from a few floors away. Xio had tried to keep up with him as best as she could but often found herself being dragged into different rooms by the staff.
She was small, so she was an easy target.
“Your dad really likes this place, doesn’t he?” Kai raised an eyebrow as he watched the older man hurriedly disappear from the two of them. Not that he minded, he liked spending time alone with Xio.
“He loves it. He loves all things paranormal or scary. You should hear him talk about ghosts. Man he’s convinced they’re real.” She said with a soft laugh, jumping at a few notices coming from the curtain ahead. She didn’t like them.
He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "If ghosts are real I'd find a medium so I could talk to Maria," He muttered, keeping his eyes open for any jump scares, "But they aren't so there's no point."
Xio fell silent. He was right. They weren’t real. She gave him a reassuring nudge. She had no words to give to him but offered her presence for comfort.
Xio nearly jumped out of her skin when a man popped out with a metal pipe screaming in gibberish. Her face paled beyond what it had before and she felt sick. She immediately turned to Kai, burying her face in his chest and shivering.
When the man jumped out Kai cursed under his breath before he chuckled and turned to Xio. He wrapped her in his arms and kissed her head and rubbed at her back, "Damn, I wish I was as scary as you man, good job!" He grinned before looking to Xio, "You right, beautiful?"
The man seemed a little disappointed he didn’t get Kai but with a content nod he moved on to the next room. Screams could be heard from that one as well. “Metal pipes…” she shivered, looking as if she was going to say something before she shook her head and looked up at him. “I’m alright.” She murmured as she rested her cheek on his chest. He was so warm. “We should keep going.”
Kai frowned a little. He'd have to remember that little fact in case it came in handy. He sighed and nodded, "If you're sure you're okay then yes, we should keep moving." He kissed her head one more time and gave her a small squeeze before leading them into the next room.
“I’m good!” She said firmly, smiling at him. This one was yet again a fake. She gigged slightly, looking around this room. All manners of fake blood and gore laid around. Xio bit her lip. She could probably tell Kai how each and every blood stain came to be. But she would wait to tell him that.
Her psychotic state of mind would have to be hidden until she got to know him better. Jeremy already knew. She wrote crime novels sometimes. Not often but sometimes.
//I’m going to bed early tonight. I’m getting myself stress-sick. (Lowkey tho, I might risk my mental and physical health and keep up with my bad habits.) If my writing gets low quality, that is the reason.//
(Hey, that's all good. You're mental health is more important! Take care babe!)
Kai still didn't quite believe her but didn't mention it and just nodded, "Alright, if you say so." he smiled back, though it was slightly strained. he sighed and looked around the room, too and his eyes landed on some form of stretching machine. He raised an eyebrow and looked away.
//Thanks fam. ^^’//
“This place is rather big. I wonder where my father is now…?” She bit her lip as she moved to the middle of the room. There were no staff and it was strangely quiet. She sighed loudly. “It feels so lonely around here sometimes.” She admitted, laughing at herself. “No screams, no staff.”
(Sorry, school was up my ass today)
"Gary is probably laughing at someone who tried to scare him or something," He chuckled as he imagined the scene, "They're planning something. I can feel it. That's why it's so quiet."
//It’s alright! I understand that. Take your time. I’ll be patient.//
“Sounds like him.” She sighed. He loved this stuff. She only liked writing about it. Her father was one of a kind. “You think?” She hummed softly, taking his hand and pulling him with her to the stretching machine. “Maybe they’ll strap you here?” She teased, placing her hand on his chest. She just wanted to make contact with him in some form or another.
(Thanks :) Also, fair warning, I'm not gonna be active for a lot tomorrow. I'm doing something with my girlfriend (and friends) for her birthday.)
Kai smirked, wrapping an arm around her, "Maybe they will. That'll be some kinky stuff. Or maybe they'll strap you down and it'll turn into some BDSM type thing," He shrugged, "Not gonna lie, that would be hot."
//Niiiiicceeee tell her a random person half way across the world says happy birthday.//
Xio turned pink at the thought. “Note to self, Kai really enjoys BDSM.” She hummed softly. “Hot in general or are you hinting that I make it attractive?” Her lips curled into a wicked grin. “So I guess if we ever go at it I know how to turn you on.”
(I will!)
"I don't really enjoy it. I just enjoy it," He shrugged again and smirked, "And both. It's hot in generally but with you it would be even better," He chuckled darkly, "Now you now my dirty secret. I'm into BDSM, not even the twins know."
//Yay! ^^ mmm, Maybe I’ll use tomorrow as a mental health break day haha//
“Mmhm.” She winked at him, slowly moving to the curtain that marked the next room. “You’re saying that to a friend? I mean, I’m flattered you think I’d look hot tied up, but is it something you really want to see?” She paused, tilting her head. “Really? I have black mail on you now. For the twins of course.” Xio would never tell the twins unless Kai wanted her too. But it was fun to tease him.
Seconds after ducking past the curtain Xio was grabbed at the waist and thrown into a side room. She realized a little too late that the room was tiny. Yet the one who had pushed her in still managed to stuff Kai in After her. Xio gasped softly, her face pale and her breath shaky. That man had come out of nowhere. She began to laugh, running a hand through her hair. The door had been shut and locked behind them. The only light they had came from a small green light above them. The room was more of a closet, barely accommodating the two teens.
(Aha, not a bad idea)
Kai rolled his eyes, "Yeah yeah, blackmail them all you want. Actually don't, they'd make my life a living hell." He chuckled before it turned into a confused expression as he was shoved into the closet. He sighed loudly and dramatically, "Wow, locked in a closet with you. Never thought I'd be in this situation."
Xio was flustered. Just the two of them in a small space? She could feel the air between them burn and depend attention. She wanted to close the gap between them. She nodded slowly, looking up at him. Pressing her hands and palms to the wall behind her, Xio flattened out her back. “M-me neither. It’s a little cramped.” She said with a laugh. “At least I’m locked up with you and not my father.” She paused. “Actually, I’d rather it be my father.” She joked, “He won’t try anything funny.” She teased Kai, titling her head up at his frame. She wanted to run her fingers through his hair. It looked soft against the small light.
Kai held his hands up in defense. It was tricking as the space was so small they barely fit but he managed to do it with some careful maneuvering, "I would never do anything sweetheart, you know I wouldn't." But he sent her a wink anyway, just for fun.
“Mhmm. That’s what they all say.” She giggled softly. “I’m glad I can trust you Kai. It means a lot.” She hummed. Xio pressed herself up against the wall a little more. This was torture she wasn’t pretty sure. She suddenly grinned. “What would you do if you didn’t have self control?”
Kai thought for a moment, thinking hard when in reality he already new what he would do if he didn’t have any self control. After a minute or two, he just smirked down at her, “I’ll leave that for you to think and figure out. And hey, maybe one day you might find out you were right.”
