“Mm sounds perfect.” She flashed him a small, but true, smile, humming happily. The kiss had sent her heart into a flutter. “I’ll see you next Friday at 7, then. As a date that is.” She laughed softly.
“Mm sounds perfect.” She flashed him a small, but true, smile, humming happily. The kiss had sent her heart into a flutter. “I’ll see you next Friday at 7, then. As a date that is.” She laughed softly.
Kyle chuckled, “Yes, as a date,” He looked like he was about to say something else when he phone buzzed in his pocket. He sighed, then frowned and checked the message.
Where are you? The twins are wondering where you are and dinner is being made - Giselle.
He sighed again and took that as Giselle’s nice way of saying, ‘Get your ass home right now.’
“Sorry, I’ve gotta go. Giselle will keep pestering me if I stay any longer.” He sent her an apologetic look.
Xio sighed sadly but still nodded kindly. “I understand. Go ahead and get home. I don’t want to get you in trouble. It’s better if Giselle likes me.” She winked, slowly pushing herself off of him. She didn’t want him to leave nor did she want to move but it was to make sure Kai didn’t get in trouble.
“Don’t worry, she already does.” This time it was his turn to wink at her, slowly moving off the couch and stretching his back out, “I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
//BRB doing family night//
“Of course. I’ll see you tomorrow!” She happily pulled him into a quick hug, laughing softly. “I’m sure tomorrow will be just as event filled.”
(Okay, have fun!)
Kai smiled and nodded, placing a soft, lingering kiss to her cheek as he went to get his shoes, “I’m sure it will be. See you tomorrow beautiful.” He winked, quickly pulling on his shoes before waving goodbye and heading to his car.
((Back!))
Xio giggled, laughing. She touched her fingers to her cheek, humming happily. “I’ll see you tomorrow, handsome.” She cooed, waving goodbye to him as she left.
She flopped backwards onto the couch, biting her lip to keep from beaming. She was so happy she had to let out a small cry of happiness. “Miilllooo! He’s so cute… and I get to go out with him!” The cat eyes her from his spot on the coffee table. He had moved there once Kai had left. “Gah… he even kissed my nose and cheek. What that him playing the game or did he want to do that?” She closed her eyes and hugged herself.
(sorry, had classes where I couldn't get to my device)
Kyle couldn't help but smile all the way home. Kyle, the shy, introverted boy, just scored a date with one of the most beautiful, and extroverted people he had ever met. It set his stomach flipping and heart fluttering as he thought about next Friday and he couldn't wait until then.
But he still had Saturday and Sunday to think about before the date. He hoped, though new, his foster family will like Xio, and he hoped Xio liked them. He sighed contently, lost in thought before he pulled up and into the driveway, careful to not hit the other two cars on the other side.
((You’re alright. Welcome back))
Xio was surprised to hear a car pull up into her driveway. She stood, wondering if Kai had left something. To her surprise, and glee, her father had just pulled in. He was home early which meant he could finally rest. He hardly ever ever rested.
“Xio? Are you home?” He asked softly once coming through the door. Milo purred and left his spot to rub against Garrett Alderage’s leg. He smiled softly, leaning down to pet the small car.
“Dad!” Xio nearly knocked him over in a tight hug. He laughed, patting her head. She noticed the splint then. “What did you do?!” She suddenly asked, grabbing her father’s hand and studying his fingers.
“Broke my index and middle finger while moving a few equipments. It’s not too bad but they sent me home early just in case.” He replied nonchalantly.. Xio gave him a dirty look but hugged him nonetheless.
The two proceeded to the kitchen where they made lasagna together. Their night was filled with the, chatting over dinner, Xio admitting she had a date and that date was coming with them on Saturday. Her father joked about it for a little bit before the two began to talk about the heavier side of life. Xio had been correct. She would have to pick up a full-time job after high school. They couldn’t afford a college nor could her father keep the house that long without a second income. The night ended with Garrett retiring to his bedroom and Xio staying up well past the midnight hours texting with Jeremy. Eventually he too fell asleep and she was left alone with her anxious thoughts.
((Should we skip to the next day? Or that Saturday or Sunday?))
(I say skip to Saturday, if you all g with that?)
((I’m good with that!))
(Cool cool)
Kai was stressed all day.
He'd spent most of the week staying up late with Levi and Denzel, playing games, gossiping like girls and making pillow forts like little kids. You wouldn't know the twins were nearly twenty one and Kai was eighteen. Then again, the twins brought out the childish, fun side of him and he couldn't be happier about it.
When Saturday rolled around, Kai was beyond stressed to meet Mr Alderage. He practically paced round the house for an hour before trying to busy himself with either piano and guitar practice, panting and drawing and making scenes from snow. He ended up giving himself a migraine and to stop otherwise Giselle would 'whoop his ass for being a massive idiot.'
He showered and combed his hair before trying to find something to wear. After much debating and help from his brothers, he decided to go for a simple, white shirt and ripped light blue denim jeans, tucking the shirt in the front just a little. He paired it with his black and white converse and a simple, but stylish, black and white collage jacket with the number 24 and his last name, Rurrow, on the back, a gift from the twins a while ago.
He grabbed his keys and phone, pushed his glasses up his nose before leaving the house, saying his goodbyes quickly and heading to his car. He climbed in quickly and drove to Xio's, the nerves multiplying by a million as he pulled up at the curb. He climbed out, ran a hand through his hair which was some how still messy even though he brushed it, and knocked on the door.
((Goooossshhh Kai is such a fun charaaacctterrrrr))
Xio could hardly wait for Saturday to arrive. Everyday was the same ritual of talking to Kai during school, offering to hand out with him, and texting Jeremy late night texts. Everything was so hectic that Saturday rolled around before she could take a breath. She was thankful, but nervous. Her father was a little… strange. The black sheep of his family.
Her father, however, was more than ecstatic to meet the boy who had charmed his one and only baby. He asked so many questions about Kai Xio was overwhelmed. She managed to calm him down and even made a little bit of hot chocolate to cool her own nerves.
The knock at the door made her heart skip a beat. She was excited. As she stood to get the door, her father raced passed her, grinning from ear to ear as he answered. “You must be Kai!” He said in that booming, lively voice of his. Xio snuck around her father’s side, smiling,
“Hi Kai…” she said, wanting to run her fingers through her hair. She refrained, however. She had taken hours straightening her hair and then using a curling iron to get those tight curls she loved. She wore her very best lavender blouse complete with a matching scarf and a handmade flower crown. Her pants were a light color and ripped at the knees and thighs. Her shoes had changed today to simple black flats. Her makeup appeared simple but it had taken her hours to get right and complete. She had really wanted to look good today. She would do the same tomorrow. The upcoming Friday would require a ton more effort.
(Aha, tanks. He's my favourite shhhhh, don't tell the others)
Kai chuckled a little and the man's enthusiasm, and he could tell Xio got her excited personality from him. He nodded politely, "Yes, Sir, I'm Kai. It's nice to meet you, Mr Alerage." He smiled and shook his hand (his own had gone back to being the normal, freezing temperature they were, the strange cold passing) firmly before sticking it in his pocket.
He looked to Xio, smiling widely at her and his eyes sparkled, "Hey Xio, long time no see." He wanted to make a comment about how beautiful she looked, but didn't want to embarrass her in front of her dad.
(Haha your secret is safe with me))
“It’s nice to meet you too, Kai. I’m Garrett but you can call me Gary. None of that Mr. Alderage stuff.” He smiled enthusiastically. This man was just like Xio. He too was a part-time author and had taught Xio everything he knew. She even took after him. All except her nose and lips. Those her mother had given to her. Garrett took one look at Kai then one at Xio. His daughter for sure liked this kid.
“Long time no see.” She repeated, giggling softly. She couldn’t help but want to run her fingers through his messy hair. It was cute and she loved it.
“Well, if you two lovebirds want to make it on time for our haunted adventures then we should be heading out now.” Garrett said lovingly, gently nudging his daughter towards the door. And Kai. Though he was a supportive parent, he could also be a little pushy. Especially since Xio had seemingly given up on dating. He wanted the best for her.
Kai's eyes widened at little. So Xio had told Gary about their date. He flushed a little and rubbed at the back of his neck, nodded, "Yes, let's get going. I can drive if you need me too, I don't mind." He shrugged a shoulder once he finished his offer.
He could tell Gary was going to tease them the entire evening about their date and would probably question him loads about himself as most fathers do. He'd try his best to answer all questions Gary threw his way to the best of his ability and not giving away his sob story and secret too quickly.
Xio blushed, softly hitting her father. He waved her away, laughing. “Don’t worry Mari. I’m not going to embarrass you too much tonight.” He said with a large grin. She felt as if those words were a lie. “I’ll be happy to drive, Kai. You go ahead and chat with Mari. I’ve heard a lot of good things about you. But she failed to tell me who your family is. Mind if I ask?” Garrett asked as he led the two to his car. He eyes Kai’s car, whistling. “That’s a pretty car you got there kid.”
Xio seemed to lag behind a bit. She was already embarrassed. She flushed when her father’s conversation changed to how Xio went off about Kai. He told a little too much for her to enjoy like how she had mentioned he smelled like vanilla and how she loved his hair when it was messy.
Kai nodded and followed Garrett to his car, "Family? Right yeah, uh," He frowned a little but quickly forced a small smile, "Well, I-I have my mum, dad and my two older brothers. They live in Australia but are visiting right now." It was obvious he was reluctant to talk about it, but he did anyway. He swallowed and hoped Xio wouldn't out him about the lie, though he was sure it was obvious. Well, it wasn't a complete lie, they were his foster family, "And thanks, the car was a gift."
He chuckled at what Garrett had said Xio told him, sending her a wink afterwards, "I'm glad someone likes my hair messy, no matter what I do it just can't be helped."
Xio gave him a curious look but didn’t call him out. If he wanted to keep his family a secret then she would respect that. “Pretty nice gift.” Garrett said softly. For a moment he seemed a little down. His mood picked right back up when Kai chuckled. “It seems like all the guys she has dated have messy hair.
“Daad.” Xio whined, puffing up her cheeks and letting out an angry breath. However, Kai’s little wink had made her face hot. Somehow knowing she was going on a date with this boy made his actions all the more attractive. “I do like messy hair. And glasses.” She said quietly, biting her lip as her father climbed into the front seat of his small truck. Xio opened the door for Kai to get in before her.
Kai chuckled again, shaking his head slightly, "I'm glad I tick both those boxes then." He grinned widely, his mood picking up again. He ran a hand through his hair as he spoke, partly to make it messier and partly to get it out of his face.
"Thanks." He said to Xio has he, not so gracefully, climbed into the car and scooted over so Xio could get in to.
She smiled, laughing softly. “You tick more than just those two.” She hinted, winking in return. She glanced at her father. He was beaming with pride.
“You two are rather perfect for each other.” He said with a large grin. “Not many can put up with Mari’s comments.”
As soon as Xio had climbed into the backseat, Garrett was off. Xio gasped, quickly buckling. The way her father drove made her sick sometimes. She looked over at Kai, glancing at his hair with a grin. She leaned over, running her fingers through his messy hair.
Kai grinned, “I’m glad you think so, you tick more then two boxes in my book, too,” He couldn’t help but smile when he saw Garrett smile, “I’m glad you think we do. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone like Xio before.”
He couldn’t help but close his eyes when she touched his hair, “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like that.” He muttered.
“She’s one of a kind that girl.” Garrett sighed softly. “But too naive at times.” Xio frowned at those added words.
“No I’m not.” She stuck her tongue out. “But I do agree. I’m rather a good fit for Kai’s awkwardness.” She teased.
Xio was surprised by how soft his hair felt in her fingers. She leaned closer, playing with it for a bit. “It’s soft… so I’m glad you like that.”
Kai grinned and then frowned, “Okay okay, I know I’m awkward but there’s no need to point it out Xio.”
“I use more conditioner then shampoo, hence why it’s so soft,” He chuckled at a sudden thought, “The twins tried to braid it once. It was halarious.”
“Mm, it’s fun to point it out.” She giggled to herself. As he explained to her the reasonings behind his soft hair, she gently pulled him closer. “I’m going to braid it.” She said with a determination.
Garrett watched from the mirror while they were stopped at a light. He sighed loudly. “Japanese is ok, right Kai?” He asked after a moment.
