Kai was a little shocked at first but covered it up pretty well. His shock turned into a smirk, "I might be, you'll have to found out how kinky I can get." He winked.
Kai was a little shocked at first but covered it up pretty well. His shock turned into a smirk, "I might be, you'll have to found out how kinky I can get." He winked.
Xio flushed. She was caught off guard for a moment. “Oh dear lord Kai… I didn’t expect you to be so dirty.” She shook her head, laughing. “I don’t even want to ask but what kinks are you even talking about?”
"There are a lot of things you don't know about me, Xio," Kai grinned and shifted on the couch so he was lying against the arm rest and pulled Xio on top of him, "I can be pretty dirty if I wanna be, but never had a real use for that part of me."
She gasped softly as she was pulled. She could feel her heartbeat quicken and her face heat. She didn’t resist, however, remaining over him. “I want to learn more about you, Kai.” She admitted. “Do you ever think you’ll have a use for that part of you? Do you want to have a use?” She added, her voice faltering slightly. Why was she so nervous.
Kai shrugged, twisting a strand of her hair around his finger, "Maybe. I'd like to explore that part but I don't have someone to do it with. And if my future partner doesn't like it then I'd gladly lock it away for them, to keep them happy."
Xio felt a chill run down her spine. Exploring such a subject was something she hadn’t really thought about until now. Her breath grew shallow. “Y-you’ll find someone. I’m sure of it.” Just look at how he was around her. This was enough to charm any girl. Xio was sure her face was a deep shade of red by now. Once again she could feel his warmth and smell his scent. Did he wear cologne? She stopped those thoughts right there.
Kai smelled faintly of vanilla due to his body wash and then his cologne too. He smiled faintly up at her, running a hand through her hair gently before resting it on her cheek softly, "I hope so," He said quietly, rubbing his thumb over her cheek, "And I hope you find someone, too."
Xio moved in a little closer, shivering softly at his touch. Yes, she wanted to find someone. But it was more of a matter of who she wanted. At this moment, Kai was a little too tempting. She gently placed her own hand over his, closing her eyes. She was afraid of how he could switch her mood upside down so quickly. “I look forward to that day. Quite a lot actually.”
Kai didn't know why he felt slightly sad at the thought of Xio being with someone. Yes, he wanted her to be happy but… some part of him wanted her to be happy with him. He pushed the thought away, "Me too. Even though it might not happen, I'll keep dreaming, though. It;s one of the only nice dreams I have at the moment."
“It’ll happen.” She assured, resting her head on his chest. He was comforting and strangely comfortable. “Who wouldn’t want someone like you? Warm and handsome and nice smelling…” she blushed, laughing softly. “And you’re friendly, you really do let people in, and as I’ve said before, your soul is just good.” She had no idea what she was saying now. Her thoughts lept off her tongue as if she had been enchanted.
Kai chuckled, the sound deep and warm, "Thank-you, Xio. I can say the same back to you. Pretty, fun loving, bubbly and kind to everyone yet you don't put up with things that aren't right," He smiled, going back to playing with her hair, "You'll find someone easily, I know you will. With me… when people find out about my powers, they see a freak, a monster, someone who could hurt them if I wanted. And… I can. I can hurt people but I would never. And maybe they're right, maybe I am a monster," He sighed, "And the sad part is, is that I believe it. I believed it before they told me."
She started out smiling but that faded from her face. She lifted her head, an almost angry look on her face. It was more concerned, however. She took his hand in her own and intertwined their fingers. “You’re not a monster Kai. Those who fear you aren’t meant to be in your life. Maybe they would’ve been the ones to hurt you… I know you’re not a monster, you refused to freeze Jason and me. I’ve never seen you hurt anyone. I wouldn’t hesitate to murder someone but you would.” She wrapped her free arm around his neck, wondering for a moment how the game turned out this way.
“Don’t believe it… I can’t make you but I am going to beg you to not believe it. You’re the sweetest person ever.” She burried her face in his chest, taking a deep breath. “No wonder I’ve fallen for you.” She said in a half-joking tone, her voice hushed. She really had fallen for him, even if she didn’t want to admit it.
Kai felt like he was on the verge of tears but he held them back, not wanting to Xio to see him cry like a baby. She'd probably think him weak for getting caught up over something like this, "I am, Xio. You might not see it, and I'm glad you don't but I am. Sooner or later you will, everyone does."
He wrapped her tighter in the embrace, never wanting to let go and wanting to stay here forever. He could get used to this. Holding Xio like this, comforting each other. But he knew she'd leave, Even though she might not think so now, she would, he knew it.
“Kai…” she leaned up and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. “But I’m not like them.” She said softly. “I’m going to stay even if you scare me. How could one part of you change how I see you?” She buried her face in the crook of his neck, caught up in the moment. She too wanted to cry. She didn’t want to.
“You’re not a monster. You have a monster. I have a monster too. Everyone does.”
Kai nodded hesitantly, releasing a shaky breath a squeezing his eyes shut to keep a lock on his tears. His face was flushed a light shade of red from the kiss, even though he knew it was just a friendly gesture. A couple tears managed to escape, "I just want the monster to go away, Xio. I've tried but nothing works… nothing except…" He swallowed, "And I couldn't even do that right…"
Xio shot up suddenly. She knew what he had tried. She almost wish she didn’t know. “K-Kai…” Soon, her own tears were trailing down her cheeks. She took in a shaky, sobbing breath and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. “You have no idea how happy I am that you failed…”
She fell silent for a moment, her body wracked with shudders. “Please don’t leave me.” She finally said. Her sobs became uncontrollable. “I don’t want to lose you either. I think I’ve finally found the one person who I like and it’s you, Kai. Let me help you… I want to help you get rid of the monster. You don’t have to… to…” she couldn’t finish. Depression and suicide had been a part of her life. Before her parents split she had a friend named Marcus. He had been a part of Marx’s gang but he wanted out. Xio was his escape.
He too had struggled to fight the same monster Kai was facing. Marcus lost. His body was found broken and cold at the bottom of a building. No one mourned his death but Xio. That monster was horrible. She wanted it to be killed for good. She wished she could kill it for good.
Kai suddenly felt quietly for mentioning it. He never wanted to see Xio like this ever again and it made him feel bad because he caused it. Even know he was still messing things up. He shushed her softly, holding her close as silent tears streamed down his face as he let Xio calm before he replied.
"Xio, please don't cry, it's not worth crying over," He said softly, running a hand through her hair, "You can help, I'll let you help me. You've made me smile and laugh more then anyone else has in a couple then the entire of my eighteen years of life. I'll…" He swallowed a lump in his throat, "I'll try and get better. I promise I'll try and be better…" His voice became quieter as he spoke.
She sobbed for another minute before he was able to calm her down. She wiped the tears from her eyes and hoped that her mascara hadn’t run. “It’s worth crying over, Kai. You’re worth it. Worth everything.” She closed her eyes, sniffling. She loved feeling his fingers in her hair. She loved the warmth he gave. She couldn’t bear to lose him to that monster of an illness. Not when he was so alive under her currently.
“You don’t have to be better… you just have to get better.” She mumbled, wiping the tears from his face with a gentle hand. “I don’t want you to change yourself. You’re fine the way you are. Don’t let the monster win.” If it won, she wouldn’t know if she had at least a little chance with him. Even if it was minuscule.
Kai leaned into her touches, still running a gentle hand through hair hair as she calmed down, “I-I know. I’ll fight it. If not for myself but for you,” He let his hand rest on her cheek, “I don’t want to see you cry like this or be in pain ever again…”
She took a shaky laugh and leaned into his hand. “Stop… you’re going to make me fall for you.” She sniffled again, wondering just how broken he really was. Suicidal… It made her fear for his life. She couldn’t change anything now… she would have to be a friend for him. A friend could help him out more. No more childish thoughts about a romance that might not even be there. “I’ll be by your side, Kai. No matter what monster tries to take you, I’ll kill it…”
Kai chuckled, “If you keep saying stuff like that it’s going to be me who falls for you.” He’d be lying if he said he hadn’t already fallen. But he knew Xio was afraid of relationships after Marx and didn’t want to over step. If she wanted to stay friends then he’d have to live with that.
“Mm, maybe that would be fun.” She hinted slightly, blushing. She wanted to give her life another chance. Even if she was a failure in relationships. She could make him happy… maybe. There was that doubt again. ‘If she had only been a better girlfriend…’ that’s what she told herself everyday. ‘Then maybe Marx wouldn’t have hurt her’.
"Do you…" Kai released a breath and took a moment to gain some confidence, "Do you maybe want to, and you don't have to say yes because you know, we've only known each other for a little while but… do you maybe want to go on a date, sometime? To see if we could make it work? I-I know what you said, about being afraid to get into a relationship and I know I said that I… I wasn't really interested in stuff like this but.. I-I'm willing to give it a try if you are. You don't have to say yes, but I would really love it if you did."
Xio was overwhelmingly happy. But also hesitant. She wanted to go out with him so badly it hurt. He wanted to so it should have been fine. It should have made her say yes right away. But a little voice held her back and told her to give it up. Kai deserved someone who was good in a relationship.
“A-actually I’d love to Kai. I’m willing to give it a try.” She said once pushing that voice down. She could try. She could do it. She wanted a relationship didn’t she? And it was Kai who had asked her out. How could she resist? She couldn’t. “I want to… I want to try again. And I want it to be with you…”
Kai grinned, pressing a small, feather light kiss to her nose, “Next Friday? I’ll pick you up at seven?” He already had ideas running through his brain at a million miles an hour, never stopping or focusing on one for a long amount of time.
