“Mhmm, now, over there is where I need to be right now. Math and I believe Communications. Why they put the two together, I have no clue.” Phoenix snickered, rolling his eyes. “It’s an odd pair in my opinion.”
“Mhmm, now, over there is where I need to be right now. Math and I believe Communications. Why they put the two together, I have no clue.” Phoenix snickered, rolling his eyes. “It’s an odd pair in my opinion.”
“Yeah it is,” Cicada responded looking over at the building, “At least the math department isn’t shoved off in an old building. That’s how it was at my old campus.”
"The math teachers demanded a better building, I guess." Phoenix chuckled, glancing over to her. "I need to head to that class, so I'll see you later, right?" He hummed, running a hand through his hair.
"Right!" Cicada nodded and smiled up at him. She was excited for later, hopefully he would call her a friend after today. Hopefully. She waited a moment before asking, "Before you go, mind giving me directions to the science building?"
"Down the path, by the English building on the right." He hummed, resting a hand on her shoulder and turning her gaze upon the science hall. "It's the one with the big telescope. They do planetarium shows once a month."
Cicada gave him a smile as she spotted the science building. Yeah, she wasn't going to forget it was the one with the big telescope, "Got it. Thank you for helping me out Phoenix. I really appreciate it. Good luck in class."
"Thanks, I'll do my best." He chirped giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. "Good luck in science. Have a good time!" Phoenix chirped running off to head to math. He didn't want to be late, but he didn't want to be rude either. Waving over his shoulder, he grinned.
Cicada smiled and waved back at him. She let out a long sigh. She had a while before her next class started and decided she needed to take some time to herself. Most of the day had been spent trying to befriend people, and while she loved being around others, it was difficult to keep her mask up all the time.
(Do we wanna time skip until later, so we're not stuck?)
(Yeah. Do you mind starting?)
(Nope, not in the slightest! I'll need a couple minutes, but it'll be up)
(Got it. Thanks!)
The sun hung low in the sky, as the night began to grow cool. Phoenix ran a hand through his hair trying to make himself more presentable after a longer day. His sister was going to insist to make sure he looked nice, so he attempted to meet her lowest standard. He wasn't 'going out' with Cicada, just showing her around town. But Savanna didn't see it that way. She refused to listen to his objections. He hadn't had the chance to tell her that she was incredibly dangerous. For safety measures, he grabbed a pocket knife and tucked it into his jeans pocket. Heading out, he found his sister standing on the floor level of the dorms.
Cicada had changed after her class, just because she knew the nights around hear tended to get cool. She switched from her dress and leggings to jeans and a leather jacket. It was almost a sigh of relief to feel the extra weight of the jacket on her torso. She looked at herself in the mirror, this wasn't a date and she wasn't going to make it one. Just a girl trying to make some friends. She checked her phone seeing a few texts from her old friends and ignored the others. Cada was about to walk out of her dorm to meet up with Phoenix when she paused. She bit her lip before stepping back into her room and slipping a sheathed knife into her boot. If she kept it anywhere else it might show and she needed it for safety reasons. With a knife now on her person, she felt fine leaving the dorm room and sent a message to Phoenix telling him she was on her way.
"Is this do-able?" Phoenix asked Savanna, noting his phone buzzed in his back pocket. Savanna looked up from examining a silver bracelet on her wrist, up to Phoenix with a half smile. "I'd much prefer you be wearing something else. You're going out with a girl tonight, don't you think you should have a little more class?" She asked him, standing up to adjust little details. Letting out a soft sigh, he let her do her thing. "It's not a date Sav, I'm just showing her the town." He attempted to reason, pulling away from her gentle touch. "It won't be, if you dress like this. But fine, I'll leave you be. Go enjoy your evening."
Cicada hadn't gotten a response but continued her way to the cafe they had agreed to meet at. If he wasn't there already he would be soon right? She couldn't worry about things like that, it wasn't like he was obligated to come or anything. She just hoped she didn't get stood up.
At her words, he ran off to get there on time. Shooting her a text in an apology form, Phoenix waved over his shoulder to Savanna before getting into his car. "See you, sis!" He shouted, pulling out of the parking space. "Alright, I need to get there quickly… I'm already late…" He muttered, running a hand down his face.
Cicada heard her phone go off and she smiled seeing Phoenix's apology. He must've gotten caught up talking with someone, so she wasn't that mad. She sent him a message back as she waited outside the cafe telling him it was fine. She was already there waiting.
Glancing at the text notification, he smiled softly as he was relieved. Letting out a short breath, he pulled up into a parking space and shut off his car. Grabbing his phone, he quickly did a check on his car to make sure it was clean. If they were driving, he was going to offer. He didn't want a junked up car. Pushing his car door open, he nodded before shutting and locking the door.
Cicada smiled as she saw Phonix. Her own car was parked next to his surprisingly. It made it a whole lot easier to remember where it was since the two were right next to eachother. She walked to him and his car with a smile, "Hey, glad you made it. This your car?"
At the sound of her voice, he jumped just slightly. It seemed to be a habit of hers, to constantly make him jump. "Yeah sorry I was late. My sister decided to get in the way." Phoenix laughed weakly, rubbing the back of his neck. "But yeah, this is my car. It's not anything fancy, but it works for me."
"It's not bad," Cicada remarked with a little laugh. She hadn't meant to scare him, but it was a little humorous that it happened. She looked at him closer seeing that he had changed outfits and, he didn't look bad. He was cuter than before for sure, "And I take it the new look is a product of your sisters?"
"Heh, thanks. I had to work on it for a bit, but it's still getting me places." Phoenix laughed lightly, scanning her up and down. He had to admit, she looked nice. It even half distracted him from the impressive warning above her head. Letting out a slight huff, he looked down at his own outfit with a nod. "Yeah, Savanna is very opinionated if I'm going out anywhere, with anyone."
"Even though it's not a date?" Cicada asked with a laugh. She knew he knew it wasn't a date and figured his sister came to her own conclusions. At least she hoped that was the case. She had changed because her dress wasn't the most comfortable thing she owned and she liked this better anyway.
"I tried telling her that, she only argued with me." Phoenix mumbled, running his hand down his face. "Did you wanna grab a coffee before we go? I'm not sure I can make it tonight without some caffeine." He hummed out, walking up to the glass door. Pushing it open, he held it for her to walk through.
