The only sign for the Pizza Parlor was the one on the building, and Phoenix knew that. The place wasn't hard to miss, like he had said, but there was no direct path to find it. Stumbling a bit over his own two feet, he muttered profane words under his breath after catching balance and continuing on.
Cicada paused to look around, she had definitely run a block at this point, but she was having trouble spotting it. She decided to run around the block to see if she could spot it. He better not have been lying about it being easy to see.
Crossing his fingers, Phoenix ducked out if the alleyway. Grinning, he didn’t see Cicada as he came out of the alleyway. Now all he had to do was cross the street, and he’d be there.
Cicada was out of breath as she finally spotted Leroys. She cursed under her breath and jogged over to it spotting Phoenix come out of the alleyway. Dick. He knew she would have trouble finding it.
Looking both ways, he caught sight of no vehicles. But he did catch sight of Cicada, which caused him to run in full sprint up to the place with a huge grin. "It has perks growing up in the city!" He shouted out after her.
Cicada sprinted towards the building arriving moments after Phoenix. She looked at him with a slight scowl but she didn't seem to be overly angry, "Dick. You knew I would have trouble finding it. Well, fair game I guess."
“That wasn’t fair in the slightest,” Phoenix laughed, holding his hand out to shake her hand. “I may or may not have taken a very exclusive path, known only to me and a few others. But I’ll take what I can get,”
“Okay then fuck you,” Cicada responded taking his hand and shaking it, “So this is the pizza place huh? Looks nice.”
"Seems rather inappropriate, considering we only met today." He muttered under his breath, rather quickly as if not to be heard. "Yup! This is the place. I use to come here all the time in high school." He replied just as quickly, as a distraction in case she heard.
Cicada raised an eyebrow hearing him mutter something. She wasn't going to ask him though since it was probably just some stupid quip or comment he didn't want her to hear, "So you grew up in this town then?"
"Yup, that's how I managed to get here first." He hummed with a small smile, glancing in through the window. "You hungry? We can grab something to eat if you want."
"Phoenix, you'll learn this quickly, but I am always down to eat" Cicada responded smiling at him. She put her hands in her pockets and pulled out a wallet, "So yeah, we can grab something. Do you want anything?"
"I would, if you weren't going to offer to pay. I don't want to take your money, especially when I've got a good chunk of my own." Phoenix told her, crossing his arms over his chest. "So no thank you, I'll be alright."
"I never said I was paying for you," Cicada responded pulling out her card before slipping the wallet back into her pocket, "Just that I wanted something. If you want something and you want to pay for yourself go for it."
Smiling softly, he poked the tip of her nose with a smile. "Good, I'll do that then." He hummed running his fingers through his hair. "Do you have any idea what you want?"
Cicada resisted the urge to punch him as was her natural reaction when someone unexpectedly touched her. She gave him a smile back and went to open the door, "No idea, but I'm guessing pizza?"
Chuckling, he followed her through the door with a light smile. "Their pepperoni is the best. Trust me, you haven't had good pizza until you've tried that." Phoenix chirped out, walking up to one of the tables. "The menu is up there, let me know when you've decided."
Cicada grinned and followed him figuring he knew what to do. She nodded along looking at the menu, "I think I'll get the pepperoni. Since you recommended it, and apparently I haven't had good pizza until I've tried it."
Snickering softly, he nodded just lightly. "Alright, well then I guess I won't sit." He hummed, turning back to the counter. "You go ahead and order first. I can wait." Phoenix told her, holding a hand out.
Cicada gave him a smile and walked up to the counter. She ordered the pizza slice and paid with her card before stepping away so Phoenix could order. The guy behind the counter seemed nice enough if not for the googoo eyes he slightly had.
The way the young man was watching Cicada set something off in Phoenix. Yet he ignored it. He wasn't going to do anything, assuming she had the ability to protect herself. She was a number ten, she had to know something about defense. So he ignored whatever he was feeling, and quickly ordered his own food. "Wanna sit down?"
Cicada nodded and gave Phoenix a smile. She debated sending a silent threat to the boy behind the counter, but in the end decided not to for fear of Phoenix seeing. She really needed a friend in this place, "Yeah. Any specific table or booth to sit at native?"
Laughing softly, he held out his arm in a leading manner with a smile. "No, but I know where not to sit." Phoenix told her, starting to lead her on. "Do you have a preference between booth or table?"
Cicada laughed slightly with a smile, "I always prefer a booth if possible. And why do you know where not to sit? Make that mistake once?"
"Yup. There's one or two spots, that always ended badly for me. I waited in one spot for over an hour after ordering, turns out they just couldn't see where I was." Phoenix chuckled awkwardly, running his free hand through his hair. "Here, this is a nice one. Ladies first."
