"This isn't about me," Phoenix insisted with her. He continued to eat his ice cream for a minute, and swallowed it down before continuing. "What do you want to do. I'll be fine with whatever you choose."
"This isn't about me," Phoenix insisted with her. He continued to eat his ice cream for a minute, and swallowed it down before continuing. "What do you want to do. I'll be fine with whatever you choose."
Cicada didn’t know what to do. She was fine when offered stuff and then she said yes or no, but this was different. She took another bite of ice cream, “Let’s make our way back to your car. Is that okay with you?”
"Of course, if you're ready to head back." He nodded with a smile, continuing on with his ice cream. "Just let me know when you're ready to go." Phoenix mumbled, enjoying the taste of the ice cream even more.
"Okay," Cicada continued eating her ice cream calmly. Her shaking from earlier had finally stopped and she was surprised it had taken so long. She let out a breath, "I want to finish my ice cream first."
"That's fine by me." Phoenix hummed with a grin, noticing she seemed more relaxed now. Maybe the switch of topic really did help. Though he was terrible at smoothly doing so. "Whatever you want to do, I'm happy following along."
"Got it," Cicada responded nodding along. She bit her lip unaccustomed to having this type of power. Her parents never let her have it, her friends understood and didn't give it to her, and her ex dangled it in front of her but never gave it to her.
"Are… are you alright? You seem kind of distant… and from what I recall, you didn't sneak off to the bar." Phoenix laughed, trying to lighten the dull spirits in the room. "Did I say something that bothered you? I severely apologize if I did."
Cicada laughed at his bar comment and she pushed a smile onto her face. She shook her head a little, "No you didn't say anything wrong. Just, me things I guess."
"Well if you things need talked about, I'm up for listening." Phoenix informed her with a smile, pulling a napkin up to wipe his face off. "But if you things need to stay with you, that's fine too."
"I think I'll just keep them to myself for now," Cicada responded as she finished up her ice cream. She had a little smile on, "But I'll keep your offer in mind."
"Understandable. Call whenever, and I'll be happy to talk." Phoenix grinned, the slight sugar rush starting to kick in. From the coffee, to the ice cream he started to gain enough energy to keep him awake while driving… and until homework was done.
Cicada laughed and looked to him with a smile glad she chose to befriend him. She pushed the ice cream bowl away, "Thank you for being able to do that. I'm ready to go if you are?"
He still had half a cone, but nodded. "Yup! I can finish this while we walk." Phoenix hummed, sliding out from the booth. "Madam," He offered his hand out to her, his smile still bright.
Cicada smiled as she took his hand laughing. She slid out from the booth spotting his ice cream, "Why thank you sir. It should take us a bit to get back to your car shouldn't it?"
"Yeah, a little bit." Phoenix hummed, leading her on out the door. "And we can walk in silence, or chit-chat. The choice is up to you." He purred, biting in to his cone once again.
Cicada snickered a little as she followed after him. She hadn't expected him to purr at all during this little outing, "We can chit-chat, first question. Where did that purr come from Phoenix?"
His face flushed immensely, and he seemed to stiffen up just a bit. "W-what? I don't seem to know what you're referring to…" Clearly he felt flustered because of the question, and attempted to get by it. Though he had a feeling she would insist.
Cicada could tell he had a stiffened up just slightly at her question. She decided to back away from it since it had only been meant as a little tease and joke, but it could be interesting to see where it lead to. She laughed slightly, "Oh you're fine, Phe. I just noticed it that's all."
Attempting to relax, he forced out a light laugh. "Guess I didn't…" Phoenix mumbled, his voice a little bit higher in pitch than normal. "Though I like that nickname…."
Cicada smiled and held back her laughter at his higher than normal voice. It took nothing to make him flustered, and maybe she would use that for future reference. But they're not a date or dating, they're just friends, "Then I'll keep calling you that Phe. It's a lot faster to say than Phoenix."
"Mmm… true. I always found Phoenix rather formal, but I couldn't really think of any nicknames." He shrugged, finishing off his cone with a light smile. His cheeks were still flushed, but he wasn't as fidgety. "Looks like you found the best one."
Cicada laughed and smiled softly back at him. She was glad that seemed to calm him down probably the change of topic also helped with that, "I guess I did. I'm surprised no one else thought of it first. Um, you can call me Cada since I get to call you Phe."
His lips pulled up into a smirk, and he shook his head. "I like your name though, I'll probably only call you Cada to tease." Phoenix snickered, stretching his free arm out while he yawned. "I need something to hold over you."
"Wonderful," Cicada responded a slight snark to her voice. Her lips were still curved in a smile so there wasn't any real malice behind it at the moment, "It's not something to hold over me ya know? It's just nickname."
"You didn't seem too on board with it, and nicknames can actually be great blackmail." Phoenix joked, looking up at the night sky with a content sigh. "But I was joking."
