Shaking his head, he looked back upwards with a slight frown. "Nope. Most of my friends are by association." He muttered under his breath, not bothered whether she heard or not. "But thank you, I'd say the same thing if you were a guy."
Cicada heard him a little bit and she resisted the urge to ruffle his hair. That would just be too weird, “Thank and now you have one friend not by association, me.”
"And you actually like me?" He asked her with a raised brow. Of course he found it hard to believe, because all of his 'friends' were siblings of his sisters or only pretended to be his friend to get to his sister. Clearly she was the preferred over the siblings.
"Yeah I actually like you," Cicada responded smiling over at him. She really did enjoy being around him, that's why she was trying so hard to befriend him, "I wouldn't be here if I didn't."
“You can never be too sure, I normally always get the same response. So having you respond differently is nice.” Phoenix hummed softly, letting a smile pull back up on his lips.
Cicada let out a slight laugh as she looked to him, "I'm sure it is. This has been fun Phoenix."
"It has… do you still want to get ice cream afterwards?" Phoenix asked with a slight smile, pushing himself into a sitting position. "There's a good place right down the street."
Cicada smiled and nodded at the offer. She stayed in her sitting position but got ready to stand up, "Sure, I can always go for some ice cream. Mind if I ask what's your favorite ice cream flavor?"
"Don't really have one," Phoenix admitted as he made himself fully get up. "But if it's a good one, vanilla is probably my first choice. If it's on a waffle cone. If not, I don't know what I'd pick."
Cicada finally got up off of the ground smiling. She brushed off her pants as she looked back at him smiling, "Hey that's fine. Totally valid answer to the question. So what do you think you'll get?"
"Not sure. Depends what they have when we get there." Phoenix grinned brushing himself off before taking her hand to lead her. "What about you? Do you have something you'd want most?"
"I'm in a chocolate mood," Cicada responded taking his hand. She thought for a moment as her mind went through different ice cream flavors, "Something with fudge in it would be nice."
"Mmm, sounds like a good plan. This way for ice cream!" Phoenix grinned, jogging along and pull Cicada with him. In the past month and a half, he had to admit, this was the most fun he had had.
Cicada laughed as she caught up to him. This was probably the best time she had had since she had broken up with Brecken. She had a bright smile on that wasn't fake or forced.
As he continued to jog, he saw a small ice cream shop down the street. It was one of the many around. “This is the closest one, are you alright with this?”
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Cicada asked him as she slowed with him. She didn't understand why he felt the need to ask her, "Is it like the worse ice cream shop in town?"
Phoenix laughed weakly, shaking his head. “No, I just wanted to know if you had an opinion.” He hummed, running his fingers through his hair. “Guess I just wanted to double check. I always do.”
Cicada laughed with him. She gave him a reassuring smile, "I really don't. You don't have to double-check everything with me. I'm fine with almost everything okay?"
"It's a lot harder for me to break this habit, than to ask you the question." Phoenix hummed, checking both ways before crossing the street. " Trust me, I've tried in the past."
Cicada nodded and followed after him. She didn't really check the street figuring that it was fine and all of that. She let out a slight hum in thought, "Yeah, I get that. I'll just keep answering your question then."
"You can do that, or just correct me after I ask. Either is fine with me." Phoenix shrugged some, as his feet hit the sidewalk. He continued on down the sidewalk until they reached the ice cream shop. Holding the door for her, he smiled softly as he gestured for her to go in. "Madam~"
Cicada let out a laugh as she stepped in and waited for him. She would probably correct him since that made more sense to her than answering the question at the moment. She gave him a little curtsey, "Sir~"
Snickering, Phoenix followed in after her. Leading her over to the different ice cream selections, he held his hand to the small of her back. "Once we've picked, we can order. My treat." He informed her, hovering over the ice cream flavors as he read them.
Cicada nodded and let Phoenix do what he wanted to. She wasn't going to fight him considering that she considered him a friend. She read the flavors and found a chocolate fudge flavor, and it had brownie bits too! She looked to Phoenix, "Are you ready yet?"
"Mmm, as long as you are." Phoenix smiled softly, stepping back from her after picking mint chocolate chip as his flavor. It sounded appealing, so he decided it was the best option for him tonight. "You go ahead and order first."
