"I'm sorry…" Phoenix whispered weakly, feeling his stomach turn. He already felt awful, but only now did he truly realize what was happening. Clearly she left for a reason- and now he had brought her back, with no way to get back home. God, he felt like a total idiot.
"It's fine, you're fine," Cicada told him softly resisting the urge to pull away. She looked up at him moving her head just softly, "You had no idea I used to live here, and I never brought it up on the ride here."
Phoenix sighed weakly, nodding a little. "I still feel awful… I- I just… it sucks." He muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose and starting to rub his temple. "I feel like this is all a waist- and I should have just gone for something back home."
"No this was a really good idea," Cicada told him rubbing his arm softly. She wanted to reassure him as much possible becuase it wasn't his fault. She gave him a soft kiss on the forehead, "You just picked a bad town for em without knowing it that's all. This place has a lot of good in it."
Phoenix glanced over to her, sighing softly. "But Cicada," He started giving her a soft look, his brow creased. "None of this would be happening if I hadn't wanted to do this. You wouldn't have had to run into your ex again."
"Knowing him, he probably would have found me eventually," Cicada responded with an almost defeated sigh as she glanced away. She glanced back up at him, "So please, please, don't feel bad about this."
"I…I… but…" Phoenix trailed off a little, starting to cave. But his face was lingering with a little bit of guilt. "Alright… I- I'll try not to. But there's no promises."
"Thank you," Cicada whispered softly. She could tell he still felt guilty, but at least he wasn't going to say anything about it, "Really thank you."
Phoenix nodded a little, pulling her back to himself. He gently starting rubbing her shoulders, kissing her head. After some time a knock on their room echoed throughout the room. "Mm, I bet that's the pizza…"
"Probably," Cicada said starting to pull away from him to get it. She had been completely relaxed under his touch and was enjoying just being there without many worries, "I'll get it okay?"
"I can do it, Cicada…" Phoenix whispered, giving her a soft look. He started pushing up off the couch, trying to get to the door first. "I really don't mind, you should just sit."
"If you say so," Cicada responded sitting back down on the couch. She gave Phoenix a soft smile as sherelaxed once more almost curling up on herself, but she stayed seated like a regular person.
Phoenix pulled out his wallet before pulling the door open, ready to tip the guy when given the pizza. After a minute or so of quick small talk, he took the pizza and shut the door behind him. "Mm, how much do you want?"
"Don't know, maybe half," Cicada replied looking over at him. She was leaning against the couch and appeared relaxed, "I ordered a large since I didn't know how hungry you were with your headache and all."
Phoenix nodded a little, pulling a plastic plate up for Cicada. Setting the food on her plate, he brought it in the other room to her. "Do you want something to drink? I think I saw a soda machine out in the hall."
"I can just get water from the kitchen," Cicada responded taking the plate from him. She gave him a little smile and tapped the water bottle, sitting nearby, "And I have a little bit left in this. If you want to get soda though, go right ahead."
"If you don't want it, I'm skipping it. I don't need the sugar." Phoenix told her softly, kissing the top of her head. He gave her a soft smile, picking up her water bottle. "Want me to go fill it?"
"I, if you wouldn't mind, sure," Cicada replied smiling a little. She hadn't expected that, but she really should with Phoenix. It was definitely a change of pace from her ex, "Make sure to get yourself water too okay?"
Phoenix nodded a little, unscrewing the lid as he walked back into the kitchen. He grabbed a glass of water for himself, and brought both of their waters into the living room. "Mm, I'm gonna wait to eat. I will eat, though."
"Okay," Cicada replied before taking a big bite of one of her slices. She patted for him to sit next to him, if he wanted to of course, "Do we want to watch a movie? I think we can rent one off of the Tv."
"Mm, whatever you want. I really don't care." Phoenix shrugged a little, setting his glass down before curling up next to her on the couch. He yawned a little, before resting his head on her shoulder. "I'm probably gonna fall asleep, anyways."
Cicada leaned up against him as she relaxed again. She let out a tired laugh before going to her pizza again, "I don't blame you. If I wasn't hungry than I would probably be about ready to fall asleep as well."
"Mm, I also know I won't be in pain if I'm sleeping." Phoenix mumbled, nuzzling into the crook of her neck. He was growing more and more dopey by the minute, growing numb as well.
"No you won't be," Cicada responded allowing herself to be Phoenix's pillow, basically. She leaned up against him and rested her head on his, "So go ahead and sleep, I'll be joining you soon enough."
“But I need to eat…” Phoenix whispered, not making an effort to move. He did need to eat, but he really didn’t feel like it right now. And sleep was oh so tempting. “You need to tell me to get off my butt and go eat. You’re tempting me to just skip it, and I really shouldn’t.”
