Kyle crossed his arms, “Who even are they? Like, what do they do?”
Kyle crossed his arms, “Who even are they? Like, what do they do?”
"She exists for the sole purpose of making our lives worse." Suri glared at the air, and Rodan nodded in agreement. They seemed to be united in complaining about this mysterious woman.
He nodded, looking down at the ground with a small frown. If they didn't like her then he wasn't going to like her, either. He wouldn't pry and ask why they didn't like her, if they wanted him to know then they'd say.
"Suri, I'm going to their Gathering. You shouldn't, you're not safe with the Family and you know it. Ever since you got into the political career, they've been out to get you. And me. Such a high position is beneath them," Rodan said. Suri gaped. "You can't go, they're just as angry at you as me! Not without someone with you, 'course. Besides, it's only Eulidia's funeral. Not like we've got other things to do, better things."
"Can't you get like, a body guard or something?" Kyle suggested, shrugging, "Wouldn't that be best if someone goes?"
"No, more likely than not they'll expect that. I'm a good shot with a gun either way, relax." Rodan shrugged.
(Slowly waiting for Kyle to freak because iT'S eULiDiA'S fUnEraL aND tHeY jUst mET hEr. Will be explained soon enough with terrible pseudoscience, of course. Lol. Sorry.)
(I'm literally so slow it took me a minute to realise holy smokes)
Kyle frowned, staying quiet for a moment, "Why are you going to this… Gathering, again?" He tilted his head to the side.
(Ah, 'tis fine, m'darling. But really, it isn't a big deal that you didn't notice lol.)
"Eulidia's funeral, of course. Why else? She's an Elder, it's her time either way." Suri answered quizzically.
(Well, cure freak out in three… not… one…)
It took a moment for Kyle to register what she said but when it did, his eyes widened and he spluttered to form a sentence, "Wait, what? But I just met her, and you can't have a funeral without a dead body so is someone going to assassinate her or something? You people are messed up, I'm sorry, but it's true."
"Of course not, but good riddance if they were to. No, we just keep a counter on LifespanAverage, it will automatically change depending on the environment and PhysStandard." Rodan told him, as if it should have been obvious.
His mouth dropped but he promptly shut it, "You people are on a different insanity level then my own."
"It's just tech. Really, what's the big deal?" Rodan said, confused.
"Why can't you just let people die naturally?" He raised a brow.
"They do? We just track their time alive for records, that's all." Suri told him. "Humans, so narrow-minded. Really, Suri, he won't understand any of it, don't try to explain." Rodan complained.
Kyle sighed, rubbing at his face with both of his hands, "Can we just… go somewhere where I can at least sit down or take a nap? My mind is going to explode in a minute…"
"There's a floor, try that." Rodan was highly skilled at speaking with a mocking sweetness.
Kyle glared and flipped Rodan off, "Aren't you a bag of sunshine."
"And a bundle of laughs." she added, and the shuttle came to a jolting halt. "Home, or the closest one could come to such an establishment."
"I miss my apartment…" He muttered.
"Get used to it. Suri, go relax. Read a book. I'll make sure the human doesn't get into trouble, alright?" Rodan said. "I'm not sure that's a good idea but I'm too tired to object." Suri made her way out onto the docking platform sluggish and walked inside.
"Why can't I go relax? What are you going to do to me? Experiment on me or something?" He raised a brow, frowning.
"No, you're going to sit on a chair or something and leave me alone." she growled, opening the metal door to their apartments.
"Great. Sounds like loads of fun." Kyle sighed and headed through the doors.
"Whatever. Just don't bother me, I need to get ready for the gathering." she huffed, and with that disappeared down the hall.
Kyle frowned a little, opening his mouth then closing it, his frown deepening, "Fine then… I won't bother you." He muttered.
