"Humans didn't even know alien existed. Yeah, we've gone into space and explored the planets in our solar system but there wasn't anything like this…" Kyle found it weird to speak in past tense about everything.
"Humans didn't even know alien existed. Yeah, we've gone into space and explored the planets in our solar system but there wasn't anything like this…" Kyle found it weird to speak in past tense about everything.
"Well, space is really quite small and there's bound to be other planets nearby." Suri pointed out.
"Maybe here, but in the Milky Way, the only planet with life- that had life was Earth." Kyle sighed and looked down at his lap.
"I was kidding. Listen, I, er… I'm sorry. This must be difficult to process." Suri said awkwardly.
"You have no idea," Kyle shook his head a little, "You don't have to be sorry… I'll… I'll be okay." Liar.
"Is there anything I can do? Within reasonable parameters, obviously." Suri asked.
Kyle shrugged a shoulder, "I don't know. My life has been turned upside down and inside out, I don't even know how to feel about everything…"
"A natural reaction to shock. Listen, just come get something to eat. A day like this takes a lot out of you." Suri told him.
"Do I really have a choice in that? Fine, but if it's some type of weird space goo I'm not touching it." Kyle replied.
"I assure you, I have no intention of feeding you anything gelatinous or otherwise." Suri said.
"Okay. But if you do then I'll never trust you again." Kyle raised an eyebrow.
"Why would I even-nevermind. You're too stubborn to discuss this with, you know." she glared.
Kyle shrugged and stood, "So I've been told. But, there were people worse then me."
"I dread to think. Wait here." Suri waved a dismissive hand and walked off into another room.
Kyle sighed, "Where else am I gonna go but here?" He called out.
Suri didn't hear him, however. She entered a kitchen with rounded walls and metallic shelves, various odd machines all over. After chopping and stirring and boiling a wide variety of foodstuffs, she came out with a plate of noodles and a strange but delicious looking sauce, paired with water and a bowl of faintly glowing blue fruit like pomegranates.
“That… actually doesn’t look too bad,” Kyle cracked a small smile, “What are the fruits?”
"We call them Judas Pearls. They're really good, and have a sort of tingly feel like a spark or something when you eat them." she said, bouncing slightly on her heels.
He nodded, "Well… thank-you, Suri."
"It's nothing, really. Listen, I… Parliament needs me, I've spent too long chatting. Omega only knows how selfish I feel right now, but I need to leave for this, it's very important. Are you okay here?" Suri asked.
Kyle nodded, "Yeah, I understand, Madam Imperial. But, seriously, go. I'll be fine. I might take a nap or something after."
"I'm sorry I've been forced to leave so abruptly. Rodan may be around later if you need anything." she said. "The doors aren't locked, but I wouldn't recommend leaving. The building itself is positively labyrinthine, and the city's in uproar at my choice to, well… y'know. I don't want you getting hurt. I'll be back in a few spans, it'll be hardly any time at all. Bye!" she said, exiting through the hallway.
Kyle watched her go, keeping his eyes on the door before turning to the food. He didn't know how hungry he was feeling until he had smelt the food. He devoured it quickly before turning to the window. He still didn't know how he felt about everything. He was on an alien planet! That's crazy. He sighed and shook his head before deciding to take a nap.
Suri came back several spans later, quite a few hours in Earth Time, and closed the door softly. She was exhausted. Rodan seemed to be working late, she didn't look to be anywhere in the living space and Suri probably would have been greeted the second she walked in the door either way. "Kai? I'm back!" Suri called.
Kyle looked up from where he was positioned on the couch, blinking the sleep from his eyes as he did so, "Oh, how'd it go?"
