Oliver admired the place before him, having not been here before. It was beautiful. He looked up at Shiroka for a moment before looking away, too afraid to speak and ruin the peaceful silence.
Shiroka led them over to two mats set out by the water, where a basket sat. “Would you like to sit with me?” he asked, gesturing gently to the mats with a hopeful little expression on his face
Oliver bit his lip and nodded a little. He sat down on one of the mats, crossing his legs in front of him. He didn’t know why Shiroka was being as nice as he was but he wasn’t going to complain.
Shiroka sat down on the mat beside Oliver’s, the basket sitting between them. “I thought you would like feeding the koi with me. They don’t have much food during the winter, and I think they like the company,” he said, his smile turning softer as he pulled a jar of fish food from the basket
Oliver looked over at Shiroka then back to the pond, “I’ve never fed them before…” He admitted quietly. He didn’t know this place existed, either, “But I’ll give it a go.”
“It’s really easy. You just take a small handful and sprinkle it in. If they really like you, they might even come out of the water a little to eat out of your hand,” Shiroka said with a sweet little grin
Oliver nodded and tilted his head to the side a little. He slowly, almost hesitantly took a small handful of the food before reaching over to sprinkle it into the water.
The koi happily swam to the food, darting this way and that as they ate up the little bits of fish good. Shiroka smiled as he watched, and when he placed a finger just above the water’s surface, one of the bigger koi swam up to nibble the tip while the ninja grinned
Despite himself, Oliver let out a quiet giggle. He dropped some more food into the water, watching them with a small smile and slightly red cheeks.
A very big koi came up to Oliver now, and Shiroka grinned as he watched it. The fish seemingly lumbered up to Oliver, and since his hand was still low to the water, the koi simply did a little wiggle before resting its head on Oliver's palm, which it easily filled
Oliver smiled, it wasn’t big but it was bigger then before. He giggled again moving his hand gently through the water. He removed it a few seconds later.
The big koi just sort of rolled out of Oliver's hand when he pulled it back, its mouth opening and closing as it lumbered over to play with some of the smaller koi. Shiroka grinned at the big guy, getting some more food. "The big one's kind of like a dog, though he's a little slow," he chuckled
Oliver nodded and brought his knees to his chest, resting his chin a top it and wrapping his arms round himself with the cloak, “It’s cute.” He commented quietly, eyes following the big fish.
Shiroka nodded, smiling as he got a few more pieces of food. He sprinkled them in the water closer to the big koi, which lumbered over and scooped a good portion of it up
Oliver smiled slightly, before he rested his cheek on his knees, facing Shiroka, “Thanks-you…” He said after a moment, “For being so kind…”
Shiroka couldn't help the way his previous little smile widened ever so slightly at that. "You don't need to thank me. I just wanted to do something nice for you," he said, glancing down at the grass to hide his smile a little out of habit
"I… I do, though," Oliver protested quietly, "You didn't have to bring me here or stay with me while I ate…"
"I'm just being a friend. And it's no chore if I really do enjoy your company when you feel up to it," Shiroka said again, a finger idly playing with a few strands of grass
Oliver looked back towards the pond, cheeks tinted slightly pink, "I-I enjoy your company, too."
Shiroka couldn't help but let his smile widen at that. "I'm glad that you do," he said, just the lightest hint of pink on his own cheeks from the little compliment
Oliver was quiet after that, just letting the peaceful silence wash over them. He probably could have fallen asleep if he'd let himself.
Shiroka fell into the silence comfortably, hunching ever so slightly forward as he dripped just a few more pieces of fish food into the water, watching the fish with a soft smile
Oliver wrapped the cloak tighter around his shoulders when the breeze picked up. He was grateful for the extra warmth. Even though he wanted to thank Shiroka for it again, he was too tried to speak.
Shiroka looked over at Oliver now, seeing that he had grown tired. "Would you like to go back in now? It's getting a little colder, and you look like you need some rest," he said softly
Oliver pouted slightly. He wanted to stay out here but knew he couldn't stay awake. He nodded a little, "Yes, please." He yawned slightly.
