Anna sighed softly and shook her head. "I'm sorry for what may have happened to you, but trust me, I can handle myself. Last night was just… a moment of weakness. It's alright."
Anna sighed softly and shook her head. "I'm sorry for what may have happened to you, but trust me, I can handle myself. Last night was just… a moment of weakness. It's alright."
Ollie nodded sadly, the feeling of being unneeded hitting harder than anything else he had ever felt.
“So… does that mean I have to go?” He asked quietly, not daring to look back at her
Anna quickly shook her head. “No!” she exclaimed. “No, that isn’t what I meant, I… I’ve found myself quite liking your company actually.”
Ollie looked up, a slight blush appearing across his face as his expression lightened a bit.
“Really?”
Anna found herself blushing as well. “Yes… I’ve been alone for quite some time. It’s nice to have company again.”
Ollie smiled, sitting cross legged on the edge of the bed as he cleared his throat.
"Well, uh… I suppose I can stick around then."
Anna smiled in return and closed her eyes. "I can take you to buy more suitable clothes when I recover from this dreadful headache," she promised. "Harry's clothes are too big for you, but they'll do for the meantime."
Ollie nodded in agreement, slipping off the bed and pulling the sheets back over her. "Alright. I'll leave you be. A-and I'll be ready when you need me" He added, heading towards the door
"Thank you," Anna murmured. She opened her eyes again for a brief second to watch him go. "Feel free to help yourself to anything you'd like in the kitchen."
Ollie smiled and slipped out the door, leaving it open a crack. "Call if you need me!" He shouted on his way back down the stairs, taking her up on the offer and finishing his meal from the night before
Anna nodded, though Ollie couldn't see, and curled up under the sheets again, in the same "little spoon" position she'd been in before and fell back asleep as the Tylenol began to help with her pounding headache.
(They have to be spoonin at some point >:/)
Ollie shifted, and began grooming his tail as he looked around for things to tidy up. It was a habit of his, to organize things to perfection. He thought Anna might appreciate it as well.
With a sigh, he inspected the meager looking fridge, then thought for a moment before heading outside. Ollie grabbed what was left of his last paycheck, and the rest of his "savings", then shifted back into human form. He knew a grocery store somewhere…
(Ahhhh, of course!)
It didn't take long for Anna's sleep to be disturbed. She pitched around a bit on her side of the bed, which made the sheets wrap around her. Her facial features contorted into a wince, and she groaned softly, twitching and desperately wanting to wake up.
Finally, she managed to do just that, and she gasped when she discovered the cocoon she'd made around herself with the sheets. No. Anna began to panic, and she desperately tried to free herself. No no no, oh God, no, please.
Eventually, she got herself out, and she sat upright, panting for breath and shaking her head.
Oliver was busy looking for things Anna would like… that were in his budget. In total he had a little more than one hundred dollars, a decent amount, but not as much as he wanted. He ended up getting bread, more fruits, simple things they could use for meals.
And, a bouquet of flowers he thought might look good on the table.
In the end, his money was completely gone. He had nothing, but that was okay.
Because, he had her..
Ollie started back toward the townhouse, arms full of his findings as he hummed an old tune.
Trembling slightly, Anna slipped her legs out from under the covers and rose to her feet. She took her phone from the nightstand and slipped it into her pocket – just realizing she hadn't even changed clothes from the day before. Shaking her head at the discovery, she cross the hall to an office space where two dressers contained her clothes. A quick debate led her to select a pink button-up blouse and a black skirt, and she brushed her hair briefly since it was still down. She pulled it back into a ponytail and wrapped another piece of hair around the tie expertly. With a resigned sigh, she checked her appearance and nodded. "That's as good as it's going to get," she murmured, and she headed downstairs to find her laptop and Oliver.
Ollie still hadn't arrived, getting distracted by flowers, or stray dogs that frightened him, or the occasional, What am I doing?? thoughts that passed over him from time to time. But, he stayed diligent, knocking on the front door as he continued to juggle his wares.
Anna felt her heart begin to race again at the knock. If it's that bailiff again… She approached the door slowly, slipping out her phone and preparing to call Harry as she opened the door. A sigh of relief escaped her when she saw Oliver instead. "Here," she offered, slipping her phone in the waistband of her skirt and reaching to help him carry the groceries inside. "Why did you go without me? You didn't spend your own money, did you?"
Ollie offered a sheepish smile in exchange, gladly accepting her help as he carried most of the bags to the table.
"I… well you were tired and I didn't want to wake you." He excused himself, choosing not to answer the second question. "I just got a bunch of the staples, plus a few other things I thought you might like."
Anna tilted her head curiously, setting the bags down on the island in her kitchen. "Oh? Like what? And do you have the receipt?" She began to take the items out of the bags and put them away diligently. She had a structure and system to her living space, and while it looked very precise at first glance, it was actually quite simple.
Ollie blushed, stuffing the receipt in his pocket. "Y'know, just… stuff. And uh… other things." He added, taking the flowers and setting them on a table. "Aw shit… I must have misplaced the receipt! Oh well…"
Anna arched her eyebrows and crossed her arms. "You know you're a terribly bad liar, right?" she asked with amusement. "Where is it? I know you have it." Her eyes cut to the flowers, and a soft smile came over her lips.
Ollie smirked, unloading the goods and shrugging. "Well, you're still not getting it. Do those look okay? I didn't know if you'd like them."
Anna flushed a bit. "Ah, yes… they're very nice. I like them." As she bent down to get a vase for the flowers, she caught a glimpse of the white paper peeking out of his pocket. "Oh? Well if you won't give it to me, then I'll just have to take it," she said casually as she stood upright again.
Ollie smiled, so distracted by her entrancement that he forgot about the paper. He growled, attempting to stop her, but it was in her hands soon enough. He shook his head timidly. "Please, please don't pay me back. Please."
Anna pursed her lips and shook her head. "And why not?" she asked challengingly, reading the total amount and folding it up to put in the pocket of her skirt.
