"Whichever you would prefer," Violeta shrugged, and for once, she put all regards of her weight and the quantity of food aside.
"Whichever you would prefer," Violeta shrugged, and for once, she put all regards of her weight and the quantity of food aside.
Gray kissed the side of her head adoringly. “Anything else you’d like, aside from popcorn and coke?”
"Lot's of kissing right after," she mumbled, face suddenly flushed. "But no, nothing other than that."
Gray chuckled. “Oh, love. All you need to do is ask and I’ll gladly kiss you,” he squeezed her hand as they entered the cinema. “I’ll go get us tickets, yeah?”
"Do you want me to pay?" Violeta hastened to offer, sidestepping a horde of younger children returning from the theatre. "I can pay, if you want."
Gray rolled his eyes. “Love, I’m your boyfriend,” he pinched her nose lovingly. “I pay for you. Always. Okay?”
"Not always," Violeta insisted, scrunching up her nose. "That wouldn't be fair to you. And I want to pay sometimes."
“Not a chance, Vy,” Gray chuckled, ruffling her hair. “This isn’t about being fair or unfair. I love you, so this is completely justified. I guess you’ll just have to keep it in.”
I love you.
Each time he spoke those words, her world became a little brighter. "Oh, come on," she pouted playfully, "Not even once?"
Gray shook his head. “Not even once,” he kissed her on the cheek, wanting to change course at the last second but sticking with his earlier decision. Her and pouting? Drove him insane. “And this time, your adorable little face can’t change my kind.”
"What if I…. deprived you of kisses?" she suggested, batting her eyelashes in an innocent manner. "Until you let me pay, hm?"
Gray rolled his eyes. “Darling, you’ll miss my mouth,” he bent down to peck her lips. “So if you deprive me of kisses, you’ll also be damning yourself.”
"You'll cave in quickly," Violeta murmured, ducking her head away from his kiss at the last moment with a mischievous grin. After a second, she lifted it again to look him right in the eye, sliding her tongue over her lower lip. "Especially when I do this."
Gray’s eyes darkened when her tongue slid over her lower lip. He swallowed.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Vy…” he murmured. “Trust me.”
Violeta’s heart stumbled over a beat or two, but the wicked smile only spread further across her lips. “See?” she murmured, biting down on her lower lip now. “You’ll cave in quickly.”
Gray snatched her wrist and pulled her close, his eyes narrowing. “You are so much trouble, aren’t you?” He murmured, mouth nearly brushing against hers. “But maybe next time, Vy. We’ve got a movie to watch.”
He immediately turned around, keeping his control on a tight leash. That woman had no idea just how much he had to struggle to keep himself in check…
Violeta released a breathy exhale, struggling to stay on top of the sudden burst of exhilaration he’d sent spiraling through her. “Then, Let’s watch our movie,” she murmured as they neared the snack counter. “And sit in the far back, where I can attempt to tease you without being seen.”
Gray looked back at her, keeping his expression cool and collected. Why did his heart think falling in love with that vixen was a good idea? She was disastrous for his mental health.
"You know, Vy, it takes a lot of effort for me to keep myself in check," he started slowly, voice lowering an octave. "I don't think it's a good idea to mess with the little control I have."
Violeta’s thin illusion of flirtatious ease faltered and dropped from her face completely, leaving her flustered and blushing in the middle of the cinema. But, somehow, she gathered the courage to murmur a very audible “We’ll see about that,” before nudging Gray into the line for popcorn.
Gray turned his face away, the image of her flustered face flashing in his mind. He held back a groan. How was he expecting himself to be with her when he could hardly keep his cool around her? That beautiful little troublemaker…
"One large bag of popcorn and a large coke, please," he smiled tightly when it was his turn to order. Within a few minutes, he had their drink in one hand and food in the other. He turned to Violeta and quirked an eyebrow.
Violeta reached over to pluck a kernel of popcorn from the bag and popped it into her mouth. Briefly, shame flashed across her features, but she turned her head away before Gray could see it.
When she turned her head away, Gray furrowed his eyebrows. "Vy?" he murmured. "Are you okay? Was it something I said?"
Eat, she tried to tell herself, forcing her expression to clear. You deserve it.
“Let’s go watch the movie!” Violeta urged him, sidestepping his first question. “And no, what could you have done to make me uncomfortable?”
Gray’s frown didn’t lessen, but he didn’t pressure her into answering his question. She’d talk to him when she was ready.
“All eight, let’s go,” he smiled at her, softly bumping their foreheads together. “And as for your question… I am a bit too forward at times. And you’re new to this whole thing, too…”
“You’re doing great,” Violeta assured him, smiling as they approached their theatre. “I trust you.”
