Cat turned around when she realized realized Aurelie wasn’t heading towards the castle. She cursed under her breath and started following her.
Another person was following Aurelie. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop watching the princess.
She continued to wander for a short while, but decided to just stay where she was. She was certain that if she wasn’t back soon, Eli would try and find her before her father realized she was gone, so her best bet was staying put. At least she had cried all of her tears out, so she wasn’t a sobbing mess any more.
The person dropped from the roof tops when she realized Aurelie wasn’t going anywhere. She grabbed her arm. Cat who was watching Aurelie from a few feet away jumped out of her hiding spot and unsheathes her knife that was in her boot.
Aurelie turned to see who had grabbed her, giving them a glare that was as cold as the arctic tundra. “Let me go,” she growled, not even looking Cat’s direction. A trickle of fear settled in her gut, but she didn’t let it show.
The girls grip loosened slightly and she took a step back but she still held on. She looked small probably no older that 12 maybe 13. She fumbled with something in her pocket.
Aurelie glanced back to see Cat, her already angry glare getting even more upset. “What is happening?” she demanded, definitely having the command of a princess in her voice .
The girl let go of Aurelie stepping away when she noticed Cat. Cat put away her knife when she recognized the girl. “Ava get out of here! There’s a whole festival out here and you choose to rob someone in a back alley?” She questioned shooing the younger girl who went to walk towards Cat.
Aurelie raised her eyebrows. Of course Cat knew this girl. Just great. At least Cat was getting the kid under control, it appeared. Aurelie didn’t particularly want to get robbed. She hoped Eli would show up soon.
Ava rand away and cat looked back at Aurelie. “And that’s why I told you to go home.” She said biting her lip slightly.
“I don’t care,” Aurelie quipped, trying to look as flippant as her words. Inside, she was both miserable and a bit scared as her anger faded a bit. “You don’t get to tell me what to do.”
“I’m just trying to help you. I know you hate me but please just let me show you back to the castle. I don’t want you to get hurt,” she half begged.
“No,” she insisted stubbornly, crossing her arms like a child. “How do I know this isn’t a ploy anyway? Besides, Eli will be here soon enough.” Hopefully.
“It’s not that small of a town. It’ll take him awhile to find you. I’m not trying to do anything. I leave you alone after just please let me show you the way,” she said stepping closer to Aurelie.
Aurelie took a step back. “Just leave me alone!” she cried, glaring at the other girl.
She backed up sighing. “I’ll leave if you really want me too but there’s no way you’re getting home without any help.”
After a moment, Aurelie gave in. She was stubborn, but she knew that Cat was right. “Fine, you can help me. But don’t try to talk to me.”
Cat nodded. “Follow me,” she said turning around and starting to walk.
Aurelie followed quickly, pulling her hood farther down to better conceal her face. She didn’t speak to Cat, keeping her head down and her pace brisk.
(Oof sorry I thought I responded)
It only took them a few minutes to get to the castle. With Cat guiding her no one bothered them. She didnt talk to Aurelie not wanting to make her even more mad.
(it’s fine my dude)
“Thanks,” Aurelie bit out, still being polite in the face of her betrayal. “Now please never speak to me again.”
“Your welcome,” she said hugging herself lightly. “One thing are you going to report me?” She knew the answer but she also needed to make sure so she knew if she had time to grab her stuff and still leave the kingdom.
“No, I’m not, against my better judgement,” Aurelie responded. “Just please…” Her voice cracked with emotion for a moment before she composed herself again. “Please leave now, before I reconsider.”
She nodded backing away from her. “I-I’m just going to get my stuff then I’ll be gone. I will never have to worry about me again I promise,” she said before turning her back to Aurelie and walking away. Her eyes were watery but she didn’t cry.
Aurelie nodded stiffly, watching her go for a moment before she could tear her eyes away and walk inside (through a side entrance of course) and head to her room, where she would probably wallow in self-pity for longer than she should. Grace, or should she say Caterina, had never cared for her, what good would being sad about it do? But whatever she thought, she was still upset.
After cat packed all her things she stood outside of Aurelie’s door. She Knocked playing with something in her pocket.
