(Forgive me. ;-;)
Ashley groaned and rolled out of bed. She walked over to the bathroom, careful to close the door behind herself, and lifted the lid of the toilet. Sitting down beside it, she held her hair up and leaned over. Soon, a soft retching sound could be heard through the door.
The morning sickness hadn’t gotten better, but at least it hadn’t gotten worse, either. By now, Ashley knew it was coming before she threw up, so she could prepare herself a little.
Lucas rolled over, the sounds of throwing up reaching his ears. He immediately got out of bed, although drowsy, and made his way into the bathroom, opening the door.
“Ash?” He murmured, sitting down and rubbing her back softly. “I’ve told you to wake me up whenever you feel like this.”
Ashley’s only acknowledgment of his statement was the wave of her hand. She was fine. She could handle this on her own. Even if she didn’t like it…
He stood up.
"I'm going to get you some water," he said softly because walking out to get a glass of water.
Ashley nodded slowly. She wasn’t done, but she really hoped she was soon. At least by the time Lucas came back.
Gosh, did she hate throwing up… She really hoped that was the worst part of the pregnancy. Well, other than the giving birth part. Obviously.
Lucas came back with a glass of water. Ashley was still in the same spot. He sighed. He hated seeing her suffer like this, especially when he couldn't do anything about it.
"Just a few more weeks," he murmured. "It usually lasts fourteen weeks…"
A few last dry heaves made their way past her lips before she tore off some toilet paper and wiped her mouth off. She leaned back, reaching for the water Lucas had brought her.
“I know… I can’t wait for it to be over,” she croaked.
"It'll be over before you know it," he said soothingly, patting her head gently. "Yours could even go away before the usual time."
“Or it could last longer,” Ashley muttered under her breath as she sipped on the water. “I really don’t want to go to my classes today…”
"Don't," Lucas replied. "You don't have to go if you don't feel better. I'll ask students in your class to give me notes for things you'll miss."
Ashley looked up at Lucas with a small, grateful smile. “Thank you, babe. You’re the best… I think I’m going to shower, now. You can join me if you’d like, but you don’t have to.”
Lucas pressed his lips to her forehead.
"If I join you in the shower, I might not be able to keep my hands off of you," Lucas teased.
Ashley chuckled softly and leaned into him a little, careful not to get any vomit on him.
“I’m sure you could try,” she said with a smile.
Lucas snorted.
"Woman, do you not know what your body does to me?" he shook his head. "It takes so much out of me not to claim you on normal occasions. Do you think I could control myself in the shower?"
Ashley blushed a little at his words, clearing her throat and glancing away for a moment.
“Right… Of course,” she mumbled before looking up at him with a small smile. “Can you try, though? For me?”
Lucas sighed.
"Can't say no to you, can I?" he stood up, stretching. "Time to test my self-control."
Ashley’s smile grew into a wide grin, and she reached her hands up for Lucas to help her up. “You’re the best. I would kiss you if I didn’t have vomit breath.”
"Right, please don't kiss me with your vomit breath," Lucas grimaced in an attempt to tease Ashley. "I might throw up, too."
“Gross,” Ashley chuckled as she stood. “I’m going to brush my teeth quick. Would you mind getting the water running?”
Lucas obliged, turning on the shower to warm, letting it run.
"You want the bath or just shower?" he questioned curiously, looking at her as she grabbed her toothbrush.
“Honestly, as much as I would love to take a bath, I think I would fall back asleep,” Ashley chuckled before beginning to brush her teeth.
