Jay flushed a bright red but managed to wrap his arms around Eugene, returning the affection as best as he could.
He slowly let one hand wander up, playing with Eugene’s hair as subtly as he could.
Eugene smelled better than anything Jay had ever had the pleasure of knowing, it almost made him dizzy in delight.
Eugene was very aware of Jay's hand in his hair, no matter how gentle or light Jay's touch was. Involuntarily, he softly leaned into the touch. In all honesty, he would be more than happy to stay in Jay's arms for the rest of the day, probably longer. There was an odd sense of belonging in his arms.
As for Gene's scent, it was a strange mix of pine and vanilla. Very unique, but heavenly.
Jay hummed in delight, closing his eyes and resting his cheek against the other’s head. This was something he could get used to; holding his handsome flatmate in his arms, just ignoring the state of the world outside of the comfortable room they sat in.
Jay took a deep breath in, letting the pine and vanilla fill his senses. He wished he had been this close sooner, wished he had gotten to know Eugene earlier.
Then maybe they’d be a little more than two awkward males cuddling after watching a movie together.
Eugene had that exact thought. He was completely confused why they hadn't talked earlier. With both of their obvious interest in the other, it was almost criminal for them to have started talking so late. But he was glad it was then instead of never.
There was another thing circling in his mind. If they both wanted to go on a date together, they had held hands during the movie, and now they were cuddling, what did this mean for them? Would they become a couple? Eugene was giddy at the thought of that. Or would they just forget about it all and be simply friends?
Jay seemed to be having anxiety over the same thing; would they be friends or more? A couple? Just a small fling? He wanted to be a couple so badly it made his soul ache but how would Eugene react to his emotions. They had technically just met. Would Eugene be weirded out by it?
He cleared his throat and gave the other a small squeeze. “Is this all okay? You’re not… weirded out or anything? W-would you want to continue this? This being the thing between us, that is… I kinda like it. Well, I like it a lot actually. Makes me feel all weird and fuzzy and strange inside and I like that for some reason. It just doesn’t make any sense to me but it does at the same time and-“ he cut himself off, realizing he was starting to ramble.
“Sorry.”
Eugene quite liked listening to Jay talk. There was something so calming and melodic about it, he loved it. A soft smile formed on his lips at what Jay said and he lifted his head. He gently, almost hesitantly, moved his hands up to softly hold Jay's cheeks. Opening his mouth to talk, he flushed a darker red and instantly removed his hands to bury his face back in the crook of Jay's neck. His arms fell over the other boy's shoulders as a soft fit of giggles erupted from Eugene. "I was gonna try to be cool and not a nervous wreck for five seconds, but that didn't work." He said, his words muffled against Jay's skin.
Eugene took a breath to regain his composure. "Um… so I was gonna say that, first off, I really like it when you talk, so never apologize for talking" He swallowed and took another breath. "Also, I'm really glad you say that because I really like this as well and I really wanna continue this… not really sure if I'd be able to happily go on for a while without more of this… from you, of course, not someone else. And the only thing that's different is that I have no idea what I'm feeling and it makes no sense in the slightest."
Jay tensed as he felt Eugene’s hands on his face. He blushed, his mouth falling open slightly as he waited for what Eugene was going to say.
He laughed when the other grew shy, resting his head against Gene’s.
“Is it wrong to say that I find that super cute?” He hummed, biting his lip as the feeling of Eugene's breath against his neck. He liked it.
“It feels right, doesn’t it? Even if it’s strange and we don’t completely understand it, it feels right. I like this a lot, just holding you.”
Eugene was basically in flames he was bushing so much, he could only be thankful that the other couldn't see his face. He wasn't used to anything in this situation. Never had he been this nervous and shy before. Never had he had this feeling towards Jay, towards anyone for that matter, that he still couldn't explain. And no matter how long they would do this, he would never get used it. Although, he wasn't complaining since there was an overall feeling of happiness and excitement.
"I guess it does feel right, huh. I wish I wasn't so nervous and shy though. It's weird. But I really like this too… it just feels right."
Jay smiled softly, rubbing soft circles into Eugene’s back.
“You don’t have to be so shy around me, you know.” He murmured, hesitating before pressing a shy kiss to the other’s head. “Nervous I understand, I’m just that handsome~” he joked, laughing softly. “All jokes aside, you can relax around me. I’m not too intimidating, am I?”
A small shiver ran up Eugene's spine as he felt the small kiss, he smiled softly into Jay's skin. "No, you're not intimidating, not in the slightest. But you're right, you are just that handsome." Eugene giggled softly. "I have no idea why I'm so shy, it's very different from my normal personality. Maybe it'll just take some time before it goes away." As much as he wanted to look at Jay, he was still pretty red and, for some reason, he didn't want Jay to see it.
“It takes time.” Jay murmured, closing his eyes and smiling. He could hardly take how happy he was at the moment.
Jay let out a happy sound and pulled Eugene close, hugging him tightly. “I really like holding you.” He admitted, laughing at himself. “You’re so warm and soft and just huggable.”
A bright smile grew on his lips. Eugene tightened his grip around Jay and held him close as well. "I really like being held by you." He hummed into Jay's skin. He realized that if they had any other conversation before the movie, this might not be happening. It was strange how things happened like that.
Jay giggled, unable to hold in his giddiness. “Mm I guess we’re perfect for each other then.” He teased, humming happily.
He was so overwhelmed and yet so overjoyed. What he was supposed to do next? Just stay and hug and hold Eugene?
He was perfectly content with that. If he had the choice to, he’d stay here forever.
"I guess so," Eugene whispered. If it were possible, he would happily live in Jay's arms. Sadly, that would not work very well, so he decided he'll settle for just staying in them as long as possible. He was suddenly, and guiltily, glad for the quarantine. If it hadn't started, then they would probably still be total strangers.
A thought crossed his mind for the millionth time, what is the world were they now? "I'm pretty sure you asked this already, but I'm gonna ask again. What does this mean for us? I mean, we definitely don't have to put a label on anything, but I don't do very good with that." He said, moving his head so he wasn't muffled by Jay's skin.
Jay smiled happily at Eugene, biting his tongue as he forced himself to think before he spoke.
“I want to make sure to stay in your comfort zone. If you want to, we can keep trying at this before we put a label on us, but I would love to be considered… well… considered your boyfriend…” he blushed, laughing nervously. “But it’s important that I hear what you want to. Being friends is more than enough for me and I’d be lucky to call you one. You’re cool and fun and just a good time. I like hanging around you. So if you don’t want to be a couple, friendship is alright. Don’t feel too pressured.”
Eugene froze for a second at the mention of Jay wanting to be his boyfriend. He didn't know why he froze since he had thought about so many times himself. It must have something to do with hearing it out loud and from the other instead of himself. He then got lost in Jay's voice as he spoke. This didn't happen earlier, so why now?
After a moment of silence, Eugene realized he was supposed to speak. "Oh- um, well I'm almost surprised that you say you want to be… to be my boyfriend…" He trailed off, blushing more. "But not in a bad way or anything, because I would love to be your's as well."
Jay felt uncomfortable in the silence. He was afraid he had driven Eugene away already or had somehow said something wrong.
He let out a quiet sigh of relief when the other responded, closing his eyes and letting out a tired laugh.
“I’m so relieved to hear you want it too, I was afraid I drove you away already.” His grip around Eugene tightened a little. “But you really would want to be mine…? Really?”
Eugene tightened his arms around Jay as well. He lifted his head and placed his forehead on the other boy's. "Of course. Of course I want to." At that point, he was permanently red from so much blush so he'd probably have to just embrace it. "And, I don't think it would be possible for you to drive me away that easily." A soft, but bright smile was on his lips and his eyes were shining.
“Oh phew, I thought I was going to have to woo you all over again,” he mused. Jay wasn’t sure what else or how else to say or act.
It made his stomach flip whenever he looked Eugene in the eye.
Was it bad to want to kiss your attractive flatmate after hanging out for a few hours? In Jay's defense he had wanted that ever since he first laid eyes on Eugene.
Jay cupped the other’s face, bumping their noses together in a playful manner. “You look a little flustered there,” he teased, not even trying to hide how flustered he was himself.
"You didn't have to say anything, you know. But if you keep up with your attractiveness and perfection, I think I just might turn into our school's mascot." (I've made the executive decision that the mascot is a crab lol) Eugene giggled, unable to look anywhere else besides Jay's beautiful, dark eyes. When he had woken up that morning, this was definitely not how he had predicted his evening would go. But he would rather this over almost anything that he would have done.
(I love crabs. I am 100% okay with this 😂)
“Our mascot? Oh dear. I don’t think I can date a crab, they might be a little too… crabby.” He cracked a wicked grin and laughed at his lame joke.
His eyes lit up each time Eugene gave him a happy look or even just looked at him in general. It made his black eyes look like smooth onyx in the sun.
(Perfect!)
Eugene laughed with Jay. "Oh that was so bad!" He said, still laughing. "But, I'm not joking. Have you seen how red I've been from the start of the movie 'til now?" He asked, pausing only to take a breath. "And what do you have against crabs, huh? I would still date you if you were a crab" He joked. One of his hands hesitantly and gently trailed up to Jay's hair, playing with it.
Jay pouted playfully, trying as hard as he could to hold in his laughter. “It’s cute, you know, how red you are and how red you get.”
He smiled softly, laughing at Eugene’s words happily. “Oh you would? Even if I would pinch you? I’m kidding, you know, I’d date you no matter what you were.”
He tensed up at the feeling of Eugene’s hand for a second, both shocked and delighted. He soon melted into the touch, humming.
Eugene would have blushed, but at that point, he couldn't really. So instead he smiled shyly "Once again, we have basically confessed to each other and discovered how perfect we are for each other." His smile only grew. He thought this relationship could lead to nothing except for happiness. They seemed to really be perfect for one another, their personalities perfectly building off the other's
“Isn’t it fun though?” He asked with a happy sigh, leaning in a little closer. He grew nervous, giggling softly and closing his eyes.
“I like it, how we’re so good for each other. Makes things fit together so well… and I feel comfortable around you.”
