“That wasn’t a personal question though?” Lochlin chuckled, highly amused.
“That wasn’t a personal question though?” Lochlin chuckled, highly amused.
Morrigan chose not to dignify his statement with an answer, instead turning to the next page of Pet Cemetery without looking up.
“I really would love to know you better Morrigan. You seem like such an interesting person.” Lochlin replied to her stubborn silence.
“Bullshit,” Morrigan scoffed, pushing hair from her eyes. “you just want to annoy me.”
“I’m not that horrible. I just want to talk to you.” He said, continuing to grin.
Morrigan snapped her book shut. “Fine,” she spat, “Talk to me.”
Lochlin sat forward with his head in his hand. “So Morrigan, how are you?” He asked, deciding to play nice until she felt comfortable telling him things.
“Fine until you came,” she muttered, never breaking eye contact. “And you?”
“I seem to have that effect on people.” Lochlin sighed. “I’m doing okay. Next question. You got a boyfriend?”
Morrigan's body went rigid. "No. What's it to you?"
“Not a thing, just wondering. Girlfriend, anyone?” He asked again, hiding a sly smile.
"No," Morrigan practically growled. Her scowl and angry façade was ruined by her subtly trembling hands, which she'd balled into fists around her book. "No relationships."
“Okay then. Next question. Why are your fists clenched so tight around that book?”
By now, Morrigan was practically tearing the cover to shreds with her nails, which were noticeably jagged from how often she bit them. "Stop," she forced out, shutting her eyes and forcing the awful memories away. "Stop with the questions. Please."
“Oh I already have everything I need to know Morrigan. You seem to give everything away with a single look.” He said, leaning back in his chair with a smug grin.
Morrigan was paralyzed, unable to move from her seat. She pursed her trembling lips, shook her hair in front of her face; it was as if she'd wilted within a number of seconds.
“I thought you would’ve expected it.” Lochlin sighed happily, glancing around them.
Stupid bitch.
A voice echoed through her head. Cruel eyes, just like her own, flashed through her mind. "Stop."
Lochlin noticed her current state and felt a twinge of guilt flash through him. He ignored it and sighed deeply, closing his eyes.
After a few minutes, Morrigan rose to her feet and crossed the room to Lochlin. Without waiting another second, she pulled her fist back and drove it into his face.
(Haha gottem)
Lochlin yelped and jumped to his feet, holding a hand to his face as blood slowly dripped from his noise. He used his other hand to wrap around Morrigan’s neck, his fingernails digging into her skin. “Don’t touch me again.” He spat, face to face with her.
(Lmao)
Morrigan reacted immediately, ignoring the voices in her head that had suddenly risen to a deafening crescendo. Without missing a beat, she drove her foot repeatedly between Lochlin’s legs until he let her go, then grabbed his arm and shoved him away.
Lochlin let out a short laugh. He was on the ground now, legs spread out in front of him. "That all you got?" He asked, his hand still pressed to his bleeding nose.
Morrigan turned, snatched up her book from the floor, and walked into the kitchen without looking back. The moment her face was angled away from his, her enraged expression melted into one of panic and fear. His hands around her neck….. They’d felt just like her father’s.
Lochlin sighed and flopped onto his back, pinching the bridge of his nose to stop the bleeding. He considered leaving, to put them out of their misery, but he didn't have anywhere else to go at the moment.
